    in the Commandery Lengmoos at 3.30 p.m., Price: € 7. The Upcycling Band consists of four professional percussionists and multi-instrumentalists from the Trentino–South Tyrol region: Max Castlunger, Georg Malfertheiner, Manfred Gampenrieder, Mirko Pedrotti. All three of the region’s language groups — German, Italian, and Ladin — are represented. Through music, they have found the best form of communication! These percussion virtuosos perform exclusively on instruments and sound objects built personally by Max Castlunger from reused materials, embracing sustainability. A one-of-a-kind sound experience that delights both the ears and the eyes! Their music is inspired by a wide range of world music traditions and transports the audience to distant lands.     The cattle return from the alpine pastures to the valley and Sesto celebrates! The cows in particular are elaborately decorated on their return from the alpine pastures: the leading cow and the cows that follow her wear wreaths decorated with sayings, images of saints and elaborate embroidery. The Almabtrieb is combined with a festival to celebrate the safe return of the animals.

The road is closed to motorised traffic from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. from Oberplanitzing junction to the Mendel Pass. So it's free to ride for cyclists!

    Bike Autumn: Peaks & Trails 2.0

    This tour is a must – because it’s simply a lot of fun! The guides from Plose Bike have discovered new, challenging trails, accessible with an additional climb. For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, there’s also a classic, easier route. Look forward to three summits and varied trails! The Gitschberg and Jochtal cable cars take care of most of the elevation gain. After a steep climb, we reach the Kleine Gitsch, our first summit. From there, technical, flowy, and rough trails lead us down into the Vals Valley, where a gentle climb brings us to the next lift. After another ride up, we reach our lunch break. Refueled and refreshed, we continue to the second peak, the Stoanamandl. A short rest, a deep breath, and we soak in the view. Then it’s on to the third high point, the Alte Karl, where we enjoy our final summit moment. The ride back to Brixen is a mix of flowy and rough trails, plus a short stretch of forest road. • Mandatory equipment: Helmet, knee and elbow pads • Recommended: Back protector • Difficulty STS: S2 – advanced mountain biking skills required • Fitness level: 3/5 • Ascent: approx. 2,300 m (1,500 m of which by shuttle and cable car) • Descent: approx. 2,900 m • Distance: approx. 50 km • Enduro (also suitable for E-MTB), full-day tour Note: The ticket for the ascent (lift/funicular) can be purchased on site.

    Sunrise hike on the Rosszahn ridge with breakfast in the Tierser Alpl hut

    “Morning is the golden hour”. Never a truer word was said, as you’ll see when you get to the Rosszahnscharte ridge high above the Seiser Alm and behold the glow of early-morning light over the Dolomites at dawn. A shuttle service will take you to the Seiser Alm. Together with the mountain guide, you hike towards Panorama and, later, cross the slopes of the Goldknopf at the foot of the Rosszahnscharte ridge. A narrow hiking trail then winds upwards in a steep ascent to the Rosszahnscharte ridge (2,499 m), for the breath-taking beauty of the sunrise. Just a few minutes’ walk from here will take you to the Tierser Alpl mountain refuge, where you can recharge your batteries for the descent with a mountain breakfast. DURATION OF THE HIKE (WITHOUT REST) 2:20 h to Rosszahnscharte ridge (6,2 km; 662m uphill) 10 min from Rosszahnscharte ridge to Tierser Alpl mountain refuge (0,7 km; 56 m downhill) 2:05 h from Tierser Alpl mountain refuge to Compatsch (6,9 km; 56 m uphill, 663 m downhill)

    33 artists from Val Gardena will exhibit in different stores of Ortisei their piece of art from September 20 to November 2, 2025. The respective works will be on display in the shop windows or in the stores. A jury of experts will award prizes for the best design. In addition, a public prize will also be awarded for the most beautiful installation and all customers of the participating stores may participate in a raffle with great value vouchers. The prizes are kindly sponsored by Raiffeisen Gherdëina. "Shop & Art Urtijëi" should be seen above all as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and networking between these two traditional economy branches. Through this project, the aim is to make Ortisei better known as an open-air shopping center and as an artists' village.

Of course, there is no shortage of good music or company. So, off to the Schupfenfest in Jenesien, possibly in traditional costumes: lederhosen and dirndl!
