Excursion with the forest rangers of the Stelvio National Park in Val d'Ultimo. Starting from the end of September, with the return of autumn, the roar of the red deer echoes through the forests of the Stelvio National Park. Gstral, Kaseracker, Merl-Tennen – The History and stories behind Field Names around Oberbozen with Expert Johannes Ortner. Meeting point: 10 a.m. at Oberbozen train station. Duration: 5 hours, bring a picnic in your backpack. Hiking price: €15, free with RittenCard. Language: German & Italian. On this hike around Oberbozen, we will trace the origins of old Ritten field names such as Gstral, Höll, Kaseracker, and Tennen. Field names are "concise landscape formulas", reflecting the settlement and linguistic history of Ritten. However, these names also hold clues about past agricultural activities, local vegetation, and even prehistoric times. Field names often reflect how people perceived and categorized their surroundings. Ethnologist and name researcher Johannes Ortner will provide further insights into these and other local peculiarities. Registration with the tourist office by 5 p.m. the day before.

Approach from Stuls/Stulles to the Rafeinhof farm. Follow the original trail called "Jaufenkamm" no. 16 through the forest and across mountain meadows to the summit with ist panoramic views of the Ötztal, Stubai, Sarntal und Zillertal Alps. The special exhibition "Grass and Teeth" at the Natural History Museum presents the cultural history of alpine pastoralism, the wild animals before human settlement, and the changes in the landscape caused by grazing animals and today’s shepherds. Guided tours and an easy-to-understand exhibition brochure are now available. What connects a bronze stag, a porphyry marmot, and an alpine pasture full of sheep? The special exhibition "Grass and Teeth - al pascolo - may safely graze" at the South Tyrol Natural History Museum tells the story of life on the alpine pasture through pictures and objects – from grazing and wild animals in the Alps, from old and new shepherds, to cheese and herbs, everyday knowledge, and tradition. Now the exhibition is also available in easy language: In cooperation with the OKAY Office for Easy Language of Lebenshilfe, the museum offers guided tours designed for people with learning difficulties, families, and anyone who wants clear, simple, and illustrative explanations. The guided tours last about 45 minutes, take place in German or Italian, and are suitable for children aged nine and up and adults. Participation costs five euros per person (including museum entry). Scheduled dates are September 26 and October 17, at 4:00 pm in German and 5:00 pm in Italian. Additional dates are available upon request. They tell stories of star gazers, Swiss Zäuerli yodels, and King Laurin’s enchanted Rosengarten. With drums, violin, flugelhorn, accordion, and double bass, they bring to life unheard tales from gentle alpine evenings. When summer slowly draws to a close, the farmers bring their cows, calves, and sheep down from the mountain pastures. The reception in the valley is a celebration for everyone! Start of the festival at 10.00 am Arrival of the animals in Maiern at 11.30am At the end of September, the animals return from their summer retreat. After months of gorging themselves on lush Alpine meadows and recharging their batteries in the sun for the winter, cows and calves, sheep, and lambs migrate from the mountain to the valley. There, the numerous spectators await the festively decorated animals. But only with traditional music, in good company, and South Tyrolean specialities is the Alpine transhumance complete. Enjoyment and fun are well taken care of!

The Dolomites Medium Delicious Trail is a foot race along the paths of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, about 35 km with 1,900 metres of positive difference in altitude, starting from the centre of La Villa in front of the tourist office. Maximum time: 9 hours. From the centre of La Villa, the route follows for a stretch the Path of the Artists and leads to San Cassiano. There begins the ascent along the Altin ski run to the iconic Gran Risa and Piz La Villa, crosses the Armentarola area and the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. From there, the path takes the runners up to Mt. Lagazuoi at an altitude of 2,778 m, followed by the descent to the finish line at Pocol, for a total of around 35 km and 1.900 metres of elevation gain: pure pleasure! There are wonderful refreshment points along the Alta Badia route, which have been set up by Team Delicious, where you can take a break and enjoy quality products and local specialities. Thousands of runners, from more than twenty countries around the world, have participated in the event in recent years on the trails that witnessed the historical events of the First World War. During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.
