    It is all about the almost extinct Villnösser Brillenschaf sheep. South Tyrol’s oldest sheep breed has a characterizing dark pigmentation around the eyes, and it seems really like the sheep are wearing glasses. During the culinary Lamb weeks from 28th September to 8th October 2023 you may taste a variety of dishes made of this special lamb in one of the participating restaurants of Funes.

The Gourmet Skisafari celebrates the official start of the culinary winter season on the slopes, with a very special kind of ski safari. At a number of mountain huts, Michelin-starred chefs will be treating skiers to their delicious dishes, using top-quality products - a hallmark of our region. Skiers will have the chance to move from one mountain hut to another, trying each chef’s creations. During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region.     Val Gardena is a paradise for skiers regardless of their level: newbies and passionate amateur skiers spend their holidays in the valley. However, for a few days a year, the skiing slopes of Dolomites Val Gardena attract the creme de la creme of skiing. And you, as our guests, will have the opportunity of following the skiing stars live from the edge of the slopes as they battle for a place on the podium of the FIS World Cup. The history of the World Cup in Dolomites Val Gardena goes back to the 1970s. The Saslong slope is one of the most beautiful and well-known stages of the world cup, what with its famous and feared ‘camel hump’ and speeds of up to 100 km an hour. The Ski World Cup took place in 1970 in Dolomites Val Gardena, among other places; on that occasion the whole skiing world set its eyes on the Saslong slope. Women and men took part in dozens and dozens of races on the slope as well as on the region’s other famous slopes: Ronc, Ciampinoi and Cir. Today, a super-G and a men’s downhill race take place in Dolomites Val Gardena once a year. Local celebrities and international legends fulfilled their dream of one day being the winner of the FIS ski World Cup in Dolomites Val Gardena. Among the winners of the downhill we have known skiers such as Peter Müller, Rob Boyd, Michael Walchhofer and Kristian Ghedina.

    The world's cross-country skiing elite will once again be guests in Dobbiaco - together we will celebrate the turn of the year. From 30 December to 1 January 2024, the best cross-country skiers in the world will be competing for prestigious World Cup points in the Nordic Arena in Dobbiaco. The Coop Fis Tour de Ski performance by Le Gruyère AOP 2023/2024 will open like fireworks on 30 December 2023 with a sprint in the free technique. The classic individual race will take place on 31 December and the crowning glory will be the pursuit race , with a new unique course overlooking the Three Peaks on 1 January 2024. Stay tuned.

    Southtyrolien Moonlight Classic at the Seiser Alm - The Race

    When the snow glistens in the moonlight and torches light the circular cross-country slopes with start and finish in Compaccio, it’s Moonlight Classic time on the Seiser Alm in the Dolomites. On February 2023, the participants of the cross-country race buckle up their skiers and glide through the night. The fascination of the cross-country contest by night is unbroken – since its beginnings in the year 2007. South Tyrol Moonlight Classic Seiser Alm has it all: sports competition by night, trial of strength on international level and sports fun on Europe’s largest alpine pasture in the heart of the Dolomites. The participants can choose between the 15km and the 30km track. Both tracks are to be run exclusively in the classical diagonal stride technique.

    The 46th Dobbiaco-Cortina Cross Country Race will take place on 4th and 5th February 2023. the start is in Landro at the foot of the Three Peaks direction Toblach, from there it descends to the Lake of Toblach, 1.5 km from the Nordic Arena, then turns back to the War cemetery, Landro Lake, the Viewpoint of the Three Peaks and Carbonin. Pass Cimabanche is the highest point of the course. From there the track goes downwards to Ospitale and finally finishes at Cortina d’Ampezzo town center – bus station area.

    40-YEARS GSIESERTAL LAUF WITH GREAT ANNIVERSARY EVENTS! The Gsiesertal Lauf is one of the best-known and best-loved ski marathons in the entire Alpine region. It is the second largest ski marathon in Italy, and is held on the 3rd weekend in February in the Gsies Valley, South Tyrol (Italy). Ever since it was first held back in 1984, this race has never once been cancelled due to weather conditions. In 2021, the event was cancelled for reasons of force majeure (Corona). The event attracts a great deal of international skiers, with a good forty nations at the starting line every year and a great many World and Olympic Champions listed on the roll of honour. The race runs along two routes, one of 30 km and one of 42 km; the classic race is held on Saturday and the skating race on Sunday. The amateur “Just for Fun” group. with none of the stress of rankings and timekeeping, is also extremely popular, and the programme of events also includes the “Gsiesertal-KIDS-run” on Saturday.     Südtirol Gardenissima: World's longest Giant Slalom

    The Südtirol Gardenissima is a prestigious alpine skiing race held annually in Val Gardena. It is known as the longest giant slalom in the world, with an impressive 6-kilometer track that runs from the summit of Seceda to the base station of Col Raiser. The Südtirol Gardenissima attracts participants of various skill levels, allowing all ski enthusiasts to experience the uniqueness of this race. Every year, 700 participants from different countries around the world take part, emphasizing the popularity and significance of this event in the international skiing calendar. The 26th edition of the Südtirol Gardenissima will take place on March 23 and, as always, will bring together some of the best Italian and international athletes, along with well-known personalities from the skiing world.

    All four Dolomite passes around the Sella massif (Passo Gardena, Passo Campolongo, Passo Pordoi and passo Sella) are closed from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. to motor vehicles on this day, leaving the roads entirely free to cyclists. A unique chance to enjoy the freedom of these Alpine roads on your bicycle. Participation is open to everybody and completely free of charge. Start is at the Nives Square in Selva Val Gardena.

    The Dolomites Bike Day ia a unique kind of Saturday! Cyclists of all abilities can ride together on closed roads, up and down the local mountain cols and passes. The 51km loop is open to anyone: professionals, amateurs, youngsters, and beginners. Even using an e-bike is allowed! On this Saturday, from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. the Dolomites passes roads Campolongo, Falzarego and Valparola will be closed to the traffic and reserved exclusively for cyclists. At the non-competitive cycling event, every cyclist can take part for free. We recommend to ride in counterclockwise direction. During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.
