The bells are ringing all over the year but never as lovely and comforting as during Christmas. Maybe it’s the special atmosphere or the wonderful memories that let us love the Christmastime, but also the Christmas bells spread the magic – it’s simply the happiest time of the year. Sterzing in the north of Southtyrol is surrounded by the beautiful sound of ringing bells in all its forms and sounds. The hollow and smooth sound of the church bells, or even the friendly bells of local cows and farm animals – every bell has his own importance. Christmas in Sterzing is all about joyful bells with their warming sounds.

The traditional Christmas market takes place from 26th November 2021 to 6th January 2022 in the town centre of Brunico. From 24 November to 7 January Brixen Tourism presents the light and music show “COLORS. A Homage to Peace”. Also this year the lighting effects will be produced by the French light artists Spectaculaires. Musical highlights will be provided by a children's peace choir, consisting of young singers from all twin towns of Brixen under the direction of conductor Stephen Lloyd. The choir will sing live on the premiere weekend.

TWO RACES, ONE UNIQUE EVENT From December 16th to 18th, the Ski World Cup returns to Alta Badia. Elite competitors will once again show their talent on the slopes with an adrenaline-fueled exhibition of skiing excellence. The difference between legend and also-ran can be a fraction of a second. And you will get to live and breathe every moment. Share the excitement with other enthusiasts as the competitors cross the finish line, where every last curve is the ultimate test of nerve. Once more, in this 38th edition, the world's best ski racers will battle on one of the most difficult tracks in the white circus. The unmissable spectacle of the men’s giant slalom taking place on the Gran Risa, in the heart of the spectacular Dolomite mountains. From Alberto Tomba to Bode Miller and Marcel Hirscher, there are many champions who have triumphed on this track, which is one of the hardest slopes in the world. During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.

Pre-Christmas time is San Candido time: from 21st to 22nd December, the FIS Ski Cross World Cup will take place in the holiday region 3 Zinnen Dolomites for the 14th time. Fans of the "Formula 1 of skiing" can once again look forward to a total of four spectacular races at the Monte Baranci.

The world's cross-country skiing elite will once again be guests in Dobbiaco - together we will celebrate the turn of the year. From 30 December to 1 January 2024, the best cross-country skiers in the world will be competing for prestigious World Cup points in the Nordic Arena in Dobbiaco. The Coop Fis Tour de Ski performance by Le Gruyère AOP 2023/2024 will open like fireworks on 30 December 2023 with a sprint in the free technique. The classic individual race will take place on 31 December and the crowning glory will be the pursuit race , with a new unique course overlooking the Three Peaks on 1 January 2024. Stay tuned.

The hardest race in South Tyrol! 12.01.2024 - Mini 3 Zinnen Ski Marathon The Mini 3 Zinnen Ski Marathon for all children and young people is all about having fun. The youngest participants open the event at 4.00 pm in the Nordic Arena in Dobbiaco. Before the prize-giving ceremony, the "balloon glow" with model balloons creates a unique atmosphere. Food and drink as well as musical entertainment will be provided. On 13.01.2024 + 14.01.2024 the 48th Pustertaler-Ski Marathon will take place, one of the most traditional cross-country races in South Tyrol and a sporting spectacle for all cross-country skiers. For hundreds of athletes one of the most important Italian winter events in the field of cross-country skiing. The Country Wedding in Kastelruth has already become a tradition. It's the authentic reproduction of an historical farmer's wedding like those celebrated since time immemorial at the foot of the Seiser Alm.
The throngs of participants wear their traditional garments with great pride – one of the reasons why the event has developed into one of South Tyrol's most spectacular pageants.

When the snow glistens in the moonlight and torches light the circular cross-country slopes with start and finish in Compaccio, it’s Moonlight Classic time on the Seiser Alm in the Dolomites. On February 2023, the participants of the cross-country race buckle up their skiers and glide through the night. The fascination of the cross-country contest by night is unbroken – since its beginnings in the year 2007. South Tyrol Moonlight Classic Seiser Alm has it all: sports competition by night, trial of strength on international level and sports fun on Europe’s largest alpine pasture in the heart of the Dolomites. The participants can choose between the 15km and the 30km track. Both tracks are to be run exclusively in the classical diagonal stride technique.

On January 30, 2024, the Audi FIS Ski World Cup on the Erta slope goes into the next round!
The women's giant slalom on the Erta has now established itself as a renowned race and can no longer be missed in the ski scene. The Erta slope is quite impressive - with a length of 1,325 m, a difference in altitude of 405 m and a maximum gradient of 61%, it demands the fullest skill and a large portion of courage from the participants.

The 46th Dobbiaco-Cortina Cross Country Race will take place on 4th and 5th February 2023. the start is in Landro at the foot of the Three Peaks direction Toblach, from there it descends to the Lake of Toblach, 1.5 km from the Nordic Arena, then turns back to the War cemetery, Landro Lake, the Viewpoint of the Three Peaks and Carbonin. Pass Cimabanche is the highest point of the course. From there the track goes downwards to Ospitale and finally finishes at Cortina d’Ampezzo town center – bus station area.

World Championship Sledge Sports 2024 in Villnöss valley on the natural track "Ranuier Rungg" in St. Magdalena. On Saturday, the practice runs and the first race runs will take place. On Sunday, the races for doubles and singles will begin. Detailed programme follows.

40-YEARS GSIESERTAL LAUF WITH GREAT ANNIVERSARY EVENTS! The Gsiesertal Lauf is one of the best-known and best-loved ski marathons in the entire Alpine region. It is the second largest ski marathon in Italy, and is held on the 3rd weekend in February in the Gsies Valley, South Tyrol (Italy). Ever since it was first held back in 1984, this race has never once been cancelled due to weather conditions. In 2021, the event was cancelled for reasons of force majeure (Corona). The event attracts a great deal of international skiers, with a good forty nations at the starting line every year and a great many World and Olympic Champions listed on the roll of honour. The race runs along two routes, one of 30 km and one of 42 km; the classic race is held on Saturday and the skating race on Sunday. The amateur “Just for Fun” group. with none of the stress of rankings and timekeeping, is also extremely popular, and the programme of events also includes the “Gsiesertal-KIDS-run” on Saturday. The Südtirol Gardenissima is a prestigious alpine skiing race held annually in Val Gardena. It is known as the longest giant slalom in the world, with an impressive 6-kilometer track that runs from the summit of Seceda to the base station of Col Raiser. The Südtirol Gardenissima attracts participants of various skill levels, allowing all ski enthusiasts to experience the uniqueness of this race. Every year, 700 participants from different countries around the world take part, emphasizing the popularity and significance of this event in the international skiing calendar. The 26th edition of the Südtirol Gardenissima will take place on March 23 and, as always, will bring together some of the best Italian and international athletes, along with well-known personalities from the skiing world.

From game to game: Galloping into the Middle Ages is every spring the returning motto in the Dolomites region Seiser Alm. After the start at the Trostburg Castel in Waidbruck/Ponte Gardena the tournament goes on with four stages: at the Kofel/Mount Calvary in Kastelruth takes place the traditional ring jousting. The second game, the labyrinth, is on program at the Matzlbödele in Seis.The third of four stages takes place at the Völser Weiher lake with its gallop. The tournament concludes with the game at Prösels Castle, the ride through posts. All four Dolomite passes around the Sella massif (Passo Gardena, Passo Campolongo, Passo Pordoi and passo Sella) are closed from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. to motor vehicles on this day, leaving the roads entirely free to cyclists. The Dolomites Bike Day ia a unique kind of Saturday! Cyclists of all abilities can ride together on closed roads, up and down the local mountain cols and passes. The 51km loop is open to anyone: professionals, amateurs, youngsters, and beginners. Even using an e-bike is allowed! On this Saturday, from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. the Dolomites passes roads Campolongo, Falzarego and Valparola will be closed to the traffic and reserved exclusively for cyclists. At the non-competitive cycling event, every cyclist can take part for free. We recommend to ride in counterclockwise direction. The village of Laas is known for its marble quarry, which attracts artists and students from many countries. But it is also known for its organic products such as fruit and vegetables and especially its juicy apricots. The Marble Village combines both at the "Marmor&Marillen" festival, with a beautiful market, food stands, live music, children's programme and where artists and sculptors exhibit their works. For more than 20 years, this cultural and fun festival has brought visitors closer to the ancient traditions of fruit growing and marble extraction in Laas.

The famouse mountain run from Sesto to the Rifugio Locatelli on Saturday 14 of September will take place for the 27th time. The original route takes the maximum of 1000 participants over 17 kilometres with an elevation profile of 1333 metres on perfectly signed paths from Sesto through the stunning mountains of the Sesto Dolomites to the finish at the Rifugio Antonio Locatelli, just below the three impressive peaks that are known all over the world.
