    Wild herbs in the kitchen - Lana in bloom 2024

    "LANA IN BLOOM" – in pots and on plates. That spring is tentatively preparing to make its debut, is noticeable from the first bulbs appearing on the new branches of trees and shrubs, or well-tended pot plants in private gardens, and a wide range of herbs growing in the wild. Nature’s reawakening also fires the creative imagination of the restaurant chefs in and around Lana. Between 1 – 30 April 2023, during the "Lana in Bloom" gourmet weeks, there are abundant reinterpretations of traditional delicacies using seasonal wild herbs and fresh local ingredients. Lana’s annual food festival is supplemented with local D.O.C. certified wines, fastidious attention to detail — and an overall ‘feel-good’ atmosphere.

    Asparagus season in Terlan

    n the villages of Vilpian, Siebeneich and Terlan asparagus has been grown for centuries. Today 15 asparagus growers in Terlan plant approx. 10 ha of high quality asparagus and sell it under the trade mark and hallmark of excellence Margarete. The elegant looking and extremely mild tasting Terlan asparagus is very popular with the connoisseurs of this white spring vegetable. In April and May several restaurants invite visitors to enjoy classic and creative asparagus dishes made with the valuable Margarete asparagus. Fresh asparagus with home-cured ham, boiled potatoes and Bozner sauce is one of the classics. The meal is accompanied by the fine, mineral containing Terlano “asparagus wine” (Sauvignon) from the Terlan winery.

    The private distillery "Wezl" in Riffian/Rifiano has been around since 2012. Jochen Kofler produces over 20 varieties of grappa and fruit brandies with much love and skill. Multiple awards at the Destillata, including "Edelbrand of the Year 2016" for Grappa Merlot. Named "Italy's national winner" and "Distillery of the highest quality" in 2019. Jochen invites you to visit of the private distillery "Wezl", where he explains how the fine brandies are distilled and they are tasted with delicious chocolate.

    Saint Urban night in Terlan

    Saint Urban of Langres is the patron of wine in the German speaking area. He is celebrated on the 25th of May. For this occasion a prayer for good weather and the blessing of the wineries takes place in the chapel of the 'Köstenholz' residence at 6 p.m.. Afterwards, the wineries of Terlano and Settequerce/Siebeneich serve their precious wines and some culinary delights – be it sunny or rainy.     If you hadn’t realised it before, when the first rays of sun timidly appear on the surrounding peaks you will see just how much it was worth getting up so early. A sunrise mountain tour on the Schlern mountain is a very special experience. A shuttle bus will take you to the Saltner Tschapit hut, where the ascent begins. Equipped with headlamps, you will arrive at Monte Petz (2,564 m) at around 6:50, in perfect time for the sunrise. After this natural spectacle, a well-earned breakfast awaits you at the Schlernhaus mountain refuge, also known as the “castle in the mountains”.     Saus dl Altonn - The Flavour of autumn

    The peacefulness and colours of autumn are the frame to "Saus dl Altonn", the flavours of autumn, an event created to exalt this wonderful period of the year with good food, the genuine produce of the land and activities dedicated to nature and to the Dolomites. From September 17th to October 1st 2023, a few mountain huts of Alta Badia, that can be reached on foot, by bicycle or by cableway, will be matched with a producer and the corresponding locally product of excellence. Each mountain hut will present a menu specially created for the occasion, highlighting the product assigned. Over the two weeks of the event, the producers will be present at the huts to illustrate the special features of their products, which may also be directly purchased. The programme also envisages many other activities aimed at revealing the many excellences of Alta Badia, enjoying an absolutely unforgettable experience in the Dolomites.
