No matter which Guest Pass type you have, free public transport is always guaranteed. You can use your Guest Pass on buses, trains and some cable cars to travel across South Tyrol. Stay laid-back, listen to music and read a book.

Regional trains
Local buses - city buses, intercity buses, ski buses and hiking buses
Cable cars - to Ritten, Meransen, Kohlern and Mölten

Where can the South Tyrol/Südtirol Guest Pass not be used?

The South Tyrol Guest Pass is not valid for Nightliner buses and shuttles, journeys with long-distance trains (e.g. EC trains, Railjet, Frecciarossa, Frecciargento, Italo) or with regional trains on the Brenner-Innsbruck and Innichen/San Candido-Lienz sections, for bicycle or animal transport, and on the following tourist bus routes:

Line 444 Toblach/Dobbiaco – Misurina – Dolomites Region 3 Zinnen/Auronzohütte;
Line 440 Kreuzbergpass – Fischleintal – Sexten/Sesto;
Shuttle line 439 Welsberg/Monguelfo – Prags;
Line 442 Toblach – Niederdorf/Villabassa – Prags during the period 10 July – 10 September 2024.

Some Guest Pass types provide free admission to a high number of museums in South Tyrol.

The Guest Pass is the ultimate travel pass available in South Tyrol. It was designed to give you the best holiday perks and comfort while travelling around the region. With only one pass, free access to public transport is always guaranteed, and depending on where you're staying, museums and exclusive activities are accessible for free or one-money saving price.

The Guest Pass offers a wealth of benefits that help maintain your wellbeing during your holiday. Free public transport, including trains, buses, and some cable cars is always assured. Some Guest Pass types also provide free admission to museums and other unmissable experiences that change according to the area you're staying in. You can ask for more detailed information at your accommodation.

Keep in mind: the Guest Pass is not valid for traveling on long-distance trains (e.g., EC trains, Railjet, Frecciargento, Italo), for transporting bicycles and animals, and on some tourist bus lines.

To get your Guest Pass, all you have to do is book a room in one of South Tyrol's accommodations. As of now, the Guest Pass is available in both paper and digital formats.

Paper Guest Pass: Some accommodations only offer a paper Guest Pass. You can get it upon check-in.

Digital Guest Pass: If your accommodation offers a digital Guest Pass, you'll receive it either via email before your arrival or upon check-in.

Regardless of whether you have the Guest Pass as a card or in digital form, you must validate it before you can use certain services. When you board public transport, for example, you must present your Guest Pass card (name + date of stay of max. 7 days is entered on the back of the card by the host; for longer stays, another ticket will be issued) at the blue ticket machines by holding the QR code over the QR code scanner at the bottom of the ticket checking device. Magnetic stripe cards are not validated, these are tickets that must be available for visual inspection.

Check the expiration date on your Guest Pass. Your Guest Pass is valid for the entire duration of your stay!
