Wood-paneled traditional parlours, homegrown products and South Tyrolean hospitality: During your visit to our farmhouse inns, our farmers will proudly offer e.g., homemade lemon balm or red currant juice, flavourful traditional dishes such as black salsify soup, speck-flavoured dumplings, local fruits and Alto Adige wines.
What makes these farmhouse inns so special? “Hofschänke” farmhouse inns are located outside of our seven wine-growing regions and therefore do not offer their own wine. Of course, you can still enjoy wine during your visit. Your hosts will serve you a selection of wines from South Tyrol from our region’s wineries and vineyards.
“Buschenschänke” farmhouse inns are located within our wine regions, produce their own wines, and therefore offer you their house wines. This is also where the popular tradition of Törggelen has its origins. In the past, after the grape harvest, farmers used to invite people to their wine cellars for wine tastings in autumn. This is when wine merchants, connoisseurs and winemakers would meet to taste the new vintages. A Marende snack featuring Speck Alto Adige PGI, cheeses and warm dishes from the farmer's kitchen were added to these sociable gatherings over the course of time. Nowadays, Törggelen is an annual seasonal event that is revived every year from October to the end of November in the farmhouse inns.
