Cultural events in South Tyrol

33 artists from Val Gardena will exhibit in different stores of Ortisei their piece of art from September 16 to November 5, 2023. The respective works will be on display in the shop windows or in the stores. A jury of experts will award prizes for the best design. In addition, a public prize will also be awarded for the most beautiful installation and all customers of the participating stores may participate in a raffle with great value vouchers. The prizes are kindly sponsored by Raiffeisen Gherdëina. The castle ruins of Festenstein can be descirbed as Andriano's symbol. It reigns over Andriano from the lofty, rocky outcrop of the Gola del Rio Gaida, Its location was certainly a pondered chioce by the stonemason to ensure the weapns of the enemies would never reach the castle. At the same time, the spectacular lcation of the castle offers a 360° view across the lower Valle dell'Adige. Festenstein was first mentioned in written documente in the mid- 13th century. In 2008, Count Meinhard Khuen Belasi purchased teh castle ruins and commissioned, together with the South Tyralean Office for Cultural Heritage, various restoration measures to secure the state of the walls and protect the caste from further dererioration. “Alpine Advent in Val Sarentino with the magic of the stars”. This year in Val Sarentino, the visitors of our Christmas street market will be further enchanted by a myriad of shining stars. 20 wooden stands will display the traditional, handcrafted and unique products made in Val Sarentino, while the food and wine stands will offer local goodies such as sweet and airy Krapfen, Striezl (Sarentino-style fried bread) and rye bread. The Tyrolean Advent in the Castle will be taking place in the historic ambience of Tyrol Castle. Tyrol Castle provides an atmospheric backdrop for a genuine South Tyrolean Christmas experience. Local exhibitors will present traditional handicrafts such as felting, pottery, turning, spinning, braiding, dyeing and the production of ceramics or jewelry in the castle's rooms. There will be a well-balanced program of events for visitors every day during Advent in the Castle: whilst crackling fires make for a cozy atmosphere, food stands will offer traditional dishes, baked goods and drinks. The Christmas market will also be attended by choirs and music groups, and there will also be all kinds of entertainment for children.

On Friday, 1th dicember, the traditional manger exhibition in St. Pauls | Eppan opens its doors. Until the 8th of January over 100 mangers can be admired in the illuminated windows, bowfronts and alcoves in the streets of the charming historic town centre.

The beautiful historic center of Castelrotto once again provides the backdrop for the many small stalls that offer gifts, handicrafts, nativity figures, South Tyrolean products, herbs, candles and much more for sale to visitors. With mulled wine and fragrant cookies, homemade "Kastelruther Krapfen" visitors can listen to the Christmas music, escape the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle and experience a few contemplative moments. This year we will pass the time with handicrafts and games for our little visitors, while the adults can comfortably taste a fragrant mulled wine. Wise brass instruments, alphorn players, choirs and singers will round off the Christmas program. Of course, the "Kastelruther Spatzen" will also give their Christmas concert in the tennis hall in Telfen/Kastelruth on 08. and 09.12.2023.

Traditional parade from San Nicolo with the 'Krampus' in the center of Dobbiaco. They pass the S. Giovanni Street and go to the center of Dobbiaco. In the center all children receive a present from San Nicolo. For all viewers and children there is also a free 'Krampus' zone to see the spectacle.

And once again the blossoms and wild herbs of Lana and the surrounding area are the main actors during the spring event "LANA IN BLOOM", from 1 April to 30 April 2024. A colourful programme of events enriches the spring awakening for guests and locals. Creative workshops, themed lectures, cooking courses as well as wild herb walks and much more fill the four weeks in April. The centre of Lana comes alive on Saturday, 6 April with more than 50 South Tyrolean farmer's stalls on the "Delights from local farms". Sunday, 21 April is dedicated to the "Blossom Farm Festival", when the farms and estates in Lana and the surrounding area open their kitchens and cellars to the public.
