GLORENZA ADVENT MARKET 2023 Under the motto "Lights-Smells-Sounds" the Advent market will finally take place again in Glurns. Time for contemplation and culinary highlights. With the medieval backdrop and the romantic alleys of the town, this Advent market is unique. It is characterized by contemplative and musical moments with brass groups and choirs. More than 45 merchants offer their self-produced and handcrafted goods. There will alsobe pre-Christmas crafts, fairy tales and Punch and Judy shows for children. The gastronomic stalls spoil the visitors with culinary delights and warm drinks.

The Tyrolean Advent in the Castle will be taking place in the historic ambience of Tyrol Castle. Tyrol Castle provides an atmospheric backdrop for a genuine South Tyrolean Christmas experience. Local exhibitors will present traditional handicrafts such as felting, pottery, turning, spinning, braiding, dyeing and the production of ceramics or jewelry in the castle's rooms. There will be a well-balanced program of events for visitors every day during Advent in the Castle: whilst crackling fires make for a cozy atmosphere, food stands will offer traditional dishes, baked goods and drinks. The Christmas market will also be attended by choirs and music groups, and there will also be all kinds of entertainment for children.

“Alpine Advent in Val Sarentino with the magic of the stars”. This year in Val Sarentino, the visitors of our Christmas street market will be further enchanted by a myriad of shining stars. 20 wooden stands will display the traditional, handcrafted and unique products made in Val Sarentino, while the food and wine stands will offer local goodies such as sweet and airy Krapfen, Striezl (Sarentino-style fried bread) and rye bread. On Friday, 1th dicember, the traditional manger exhibition in St. Pauls | Eppan opens its doors. Until the 6th of January over 100 mangers can be admired in the illuminated windows, bowfronts and alcoves in the streets of the charming historic town centre.

The beautiful historic center of Castelrotto once again provides the backdrop for the many small stalls that offer gifts, handicrafts, nativity figures, South Tyrolean products, herbs, candles and much more for sale to visitors. With mulled wine and fragrant cookies, homemade "Kastelruther Krapfen" visitors can listen to the Christmas music, escape the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle and experience a few contemplative moments. This year we will pass the time with handicrafts and games for our little visitors, while the adults can comfortably taste a fragrant mulled wine. The traditional Christmas market takes place from 26th November 2021 to 6th January 2022 in the town centre of Brunico. The guests will find lovely decorated stands with arts and craft, sweet treats and handmade gifts as well as several culinary delights at the Christmas market. In a valley in which dialect and garb are still alive, it is not unusual that its tradition is thoroughly cultivated. The „Klöckeln“, is a pre-Christian custom practised the first weeks of December and has an old tradition.

The snow is transformed and comes to life through the snow sculpture competition in Selva di Val Gardena. This competition, now in its 27th edition, is an adventure in creativity and originality, where participants challenge themselves by working with a fascinating and intricate medium. The result? Perfect and evocative works that seem to come to life. This competition has now become a tradition, having started in the early '90s. Sculptors and artists, mainly from the valley, who typically work with wood, enjoy three days of creating their giant-sized figures in icy snow. It's a spectacle that you can admire for hours, always discovering new details meticulously carved by the sculptors. This year, the theme of the competition focuses on the lives of farmers and their work, promising to sculpt a fascinating picture of this important aspect of culture. The winners of the snow sculpture competition will be chosen by an expert jury. In addition, a People's Choice Award will be awarded separately. The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, 30 December 2023 at 4 p.m. on the municipal meadow.

Snow Sculpturing Festival taking place at San Candido/Innichen and at San Vigilio di Marebbe/St. Vigil in Enneberg. With the help of water and the freezing temperatures, fresh snow from the surroundings is packed to form giant cubes measuring 3x3x3 metres and placed at various points in the village.

SCULPTURE IN SNOW - at 2500 m Artists will transform giant blocks of snow into extraordinary sculptures on the topic of "Chess - newly interpreted". Four days of work, two the number of sculptors from each team, three meters by three sizes of cubes of snow mold. Let yourself be surprised...

The Country Wedding in Kastelruth has already become a tradition. It's the authentic reproduction of an historical farmer's wedding like those celebrated since time immemorial at the foot of the Seiser Alm.
The throngs of participants wear their traditional garments with great pride – one of the reasons why the event has developed into one of South Tyrol's most spectacular pageants.

And once again the blossoms and wild herbs of Lana and the surrounding area are the main actors during the spring event "LANA IN BLOOM", from 1 April to 30 April 2024. A colourful programme of events enriches the spring awakening for guests and locals. Creative workshops, themed lectures, cooking courses as well as wild herb walks and much more fill the four weeks in April. The centre of Lana comes alive on Saturday, 6 April with more than 50 South Tyrolean farmer's stalls on the "Delights from local farms". Sunday, 21 April is dedicated to the "Blossom Farm Festival", when the farms and estates in Lana and the surrounding area open their kitchens and cellars to the public.

The Alta Pusteria International Choral Festival is a non competitive choral event that takes place in Val Pusteria: this valley, one among the most beautiful one of the whole Alpine arc, is located at the border between Italy (Sudtirol region) and Austria (Osttirol region) at the foot of the Dolomites. The Festival programme includes about sixty performances divided into real concerts, “Open Air Reviews” and Meeting-Days, in which each participating choir can freely perform their repertoire. The first edition of the Festival took place in 1998. The variety of the locations selected for the performances together with the extremely rich repertoire presented by the participating choirs make this event not only one of the most spectacular international choral festivals but also a unique opportunity of mutual and fruitful exchange between different musical cultures.

Barthlmastag is an important Rittner vacation with a long tradition. It is celebrated annually on August 24 and takes its name from the patron saint of shepherds and farmers, St. Bartholomew. In the past, on this day, the farmers met on the Rittner Alm for the cattle drive and the subsequent market. The cattle of the farmers, who spent the summer on the alp, are herded together at the Saltner hut and driven in at noon with “Goasslschnoellen”, Saltner calls, neighing and yelling. The meeting point is a fenced-in area, the “Stricker Pfarrer”, where in earlier years the Barthlmas market took place, where the farmers met to do various business. Today the market takes place in Pemmern, where agricultural products from the region are offered. Since 1927, the spectacle has been accompanied by the Wangen music band, which has also provided food and drink since the 1960s. After this highlight on the Rittner Alm, the afternoon continues downhill to Pemmern, where the Almfest becomes a meadow festival with music and children’s programs. How to get to the Rittner Alm?: - With bus 166 from Klobenstein/station to Pemmern, timetable www.ritten.com/mobil - by own car or with the paid shuttle bus to the parking lot Pemmern. From parking lot Pemmern via hiking trail n° 1 you reach the Rittner Alm. Walking time: 40 minutes. Difference in altitude: 150 m. Over the years, Barthlmastag has become the largest folk festival in Ritten and is known and loved far beyond the borders of the municipality. If the 24th of August falls on a Sunday, the cattle drive and the market are moved to Monday since Sunday is not a market day according to custom. How to get to the Almfest? - with public transportation: With the Rittner cable car from Bozen - Oberbozen, with the Ritten Railway from Oberbozen - Klobenstein/station + Bus 166 to Pemmern, timetable: www.ritten.com/mobil - by own car or with the paid shuttle bus to the parking lot Pemmern.
