    The peacefulness and colours of autumn are the frame to "Saus dl Altonn", the flavours of autumn, an event created to exalt this wonderful period of the year with good food, the genuine produce of the land and activities dedicated to nature and to the Dolomites. From September 15th to October 6th 2024, a few mountain huts of Alta Badia, that can be reached on foot, by bicycle or by cableway, will be matched with a producer and the corresponding locally product of excellence. Each mountain hut will present a menu specially created for the occasion, highlighting the product assigned. Over the three weeks of the event, the producers will be present at the huts to illustrate the special features of their products, which may also be directly purchased. The programme also envisages many other activities aimed at revealing the many excellences of Alta Badia, enjoying an absolutely unforgettable experience in the Dolomites. During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.

    From Water to cheese, Hike in Mühlwald with cheese tasting

    Cheese belongs to our South Tyrolean valleys, just like the mountains, the wine and the farmers. Without cheese, our lives would only be half as good. And so, on this tour, we hike into the heart of cheese, so to speak. Where it is made, where it is produced, where it matures and where it is enjoyed. The day begins at Hotel Mühlwald in the side valley of the same name in the Ahrntal. We take a leisurely stroll along the stream until our wings of enthusiasm carry us up to a small and quite impressive waterfall. When we have all looked enough, we descend again, cross the stream and thus change the side of the valley. A little further up, then we reach the "Eggemoa Hof". There, at an altitude of 1300 metres, delicacies are produced that have earned a great reputation. They have sonorous names like Candidum, Larix, Steiner, Carbo or Herbarius and they are real delicacies in the big world of cheese. Of course, they are produced with South Tyrolean love, but above all, all these cheeses are the results of experience and skill, an obsession with detail and the will to meet the taste of cheese lovers. The stories of the Steiner family and of their farm are special and above all worth hearing. So on this day, immerse yourself up to your neck in the subject of cheese. It will be worth it, because sometimes you go a long way to get a piece of cheese. And we will taste the best of the good at the Eggemoa farm and let it melt in our mouths.

    The apple cultivation of Partschins - from blossom to harvest

    Gala, Kanzi, Fuji, Red Delicious – these illustrious names represent four of the total of 18 varieties of apple that flourish in the sunny orchards tended by South Tyrol's farmers. Crisp, juicy and fresh, famed as a vitamin bomb and popular well beyond the borders of the region, there is plenty to learn about the South Tyrolean apple. Did you know, for example, that the apple originally came from Kazakhstan? Or that one in three of all organic apples harvested in Europe comes from South Tyrol? Together with apple grower Christine we set out on a journey of discovery through the local apple orchards. Our charming and knowledgeable guide shares plenty of interesting and curious facts about the apple growing industry in South Tyrol, about organic and integrated cultivation, the different varieties, the ingenious methods of naturally-derived plant protection and the protected designation of geographical origin. During the subsequent tasting of the different apple varieties participants can enjoy talking shop about the apples’ flavours and textures and their personal favourites. There will also be plenty of time to ask questions of our expert.
