ONLY IN GERMAN AND ITALIAN! Around the beehive, many garden and wild herbs grow, such as sage, thyme, rosemary, wormwood, plantain, ground elder, yarrow, and nettle. Herbal drinks are made from these plants, with herbal expert Brigitta Patzleiner explaining the beneficial properties of each herb. Afterwards, the drinks can be sampled. In addition, three take-home products are made together: a calendula salve or lip balm, an herbal salt, and an herbal liqueur. Herbs are so valuable because all their components, such as minerals, vitamins, and nutrients, correspond to the elements of the human body. This allows them to be easily absorbed and transported within the body to where they are needed. For example, a green rosemary drink stimulates circulation, provides energy, activates the brain, and improves concentration and memory. The ancient Greeks already knew this: students would wear a rosemary wreath during exams. Today, this effect has also been scientifically proven.

The Hofer family supplies the local organic specialist retailer (Biokistl) with its fruit and vegetables and sells a variety of home produced, typical South Tyrolean organic products in their own farm shop. Cows, pigs, quails, ducks, geese and chickens all feel like “pigs in clover” on the farm! This introduction to the long history of the farm gives visitors an insight into livestock husbandry and wine growing on the Vinschgau’s Nörderberg mountain and shows the route taken from the first olives to the production of the farm’s own olive oil. The following products are available to buy directly from the farm shop: speck (bacon), salami, smoked sausages, cooked herb-crusted ham, Coppa ham, farmer’s speck, seasonal fruit and vegetables, and in the autumn months chestnuts and pumpkins, apple juice and Vernatsch wine.

Every Wednesday between 8.30 am to 12.30 am, the pedestrian zone and Peter-Glückh-Platz in Malles/Mals bustle with activity. Fresh local produce, such as fruit, berries and vegetables, cheeses, bacon and bread types, jam, vinegar, juices and herbal teas, are always available for sale at the market. There are also craft and handicraft products made of stone, wood or felt for sale, as well as textiles, leather goods, plants, and equipment of all kinds for house and garden. From June to September, the market is held together with the farmers' market in the pedestrian zone, where producers from the area offer bacon and cheese, fruit and vegetables. The surrounding guesthouses and restaurants offer special dishes to the respective market focus.
