2nd joint animal show in Hafling

Hafling/Avelengo, Meran/Merano and environs

The South Tyrolean Farmers' Association local group Hafling and the local group Hafling of the cattle breeding associations of the Grey, Holstein, Brown and Fleckvieh cattle breeds, the breeding and riding association Hafling and the sheep and goat breeding association Hafling are organising the second joint animal show on 4 May 2024. After more than 10 years, this will once again take place at the foot of the St. Kathrein church in St. Kathrein in Hafling. Only cows, horses and sheep from Hafling will be exhibited. A total of around 200 show animals are presented. The cattle are divided into the categories of pregnant calves and cows in lactation. The horses are divided into young horses, mares and mares with foals. The sheep are divided into young female sheep and sheep and a category with rams. The competition starts at 9.00 am and the grand finale will take place at around 3.00 pm. A highlight is certainly the children's category, in which Hafling's youngest farmers will proudly present their calves. There is a petting zoo and face painting for our youngest visitors. The voluntary fire brigade of Hafling will provide refreshments.

35th edition International Triathlon Lake Kaltern

The 35th annual International Triathlon at Lake Kaltern is about to take place. As always, a large number of both national and international top athletes will be meeting this spring at our lake known for its beauty and mild climate, which provides for ideal competition conditions. The race will be held at Olympic distances: 1.5 km - 40 km - 10 km. Organized and judged by: Kaltern Sport Association - Triathlon Section During the Triathlon at lake Kaltern, the following roads will be closed for traffic between 2 pm and 4 pm: via Campi al lago/Klughammer, via Kuchlweg, the section between the Kuchlweg and the cooperative Egma and the Wine Road from Termeno/Tramin to Kaltern.

Festival of the "Maypole"

In 2015, the Krampus Association of Kastelruth brought this old Bavarian tradition to our beautiful municipality and, together with men from our partner municipality of Rottach-Egern (Germany), erected the first maypole on the village square. Since then, the maypole has been a proud symbol of the connection with our traditions and the partnership with Rottach-Egern. On Saturday, May 4th, around 08:30 a.m., the erection of the new maypole will begin. A party will be held on the village square to mark the raising of the maypole. Food and drink will be provided for the helpers and spectators. Nature excursion to the forest of Monticolo and mystical places

Who finds access to nature also finds his way back to himself. Against this backdrop, the guide will draw your attention to the close connection between man, nature, the many ecosystems and climatic peculiarities, history, geology and many plant species. You will learn about the basics of natural medicine, from the green pharmacy to the 4 elements - water, air, fire and earth - and their significance. Above all, however, you will experience nature holistically, where the true factors of well-being for body, soul and mind are to be found. Passing through the reed beds of Lake Monticolo (492m), we reach the remains of a megalithic structure, a cult centre for astronomical observations from the late Bronze Age and an energy centre (Jobenbnühel 570m). From here we penetrate into little-known forests and heaths, ideal places to relax, de-stress and recharge body and soul, before reaching a 400-metre-high vertical rock face with a spectacular view of the Etsch Valley. From here we move to the highest point of the Middle Mountain (Höhenbühel 695m), where we find the remains of an unknown Iron Age settlement and place of meditation. We discover monumental trees and exotic tree species. You will also learn about the Celtic horoscope, because plants never lie.
