This year, the Sterntaler Christmas Market in Lana becomes even more inviting. Warm lights and colours illuminate the Christmas time in the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This year La Val organises a special Advent calendar, on the facades of the houses, revealing the magic of Christmas. One by one, from 1st to 24th December at 5 p.m. the windows will be symbolically opened, illuminating a new window every evening. All the illuminated windows can be admired until 6th January. Visit the village of La Val and enjoy the lights that connect our houses in an exciting Advent calendar. During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.

For lovers of good wine, the Mercatino offers the Wine Lounge with a selection of typical Bolzano wines. The Villandro Nativity Scene Friends are creating a Nativity Scene Route in the village from the village to the parish church for the entire Advent period until the Three Wise Men. For the first time since their opening in 2001, the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle are opening their doors in the winter months for a magical attraction: The LUMAGICA Park of Lights, South Tyrol's only park of its kind, will open its doors on 21.11.2024 and take visitors on an incredible journey through the fascinating worlds of the botanical gardens. The LUMAGICA Light Park is more than just a light installation - it is a tribute to the beauty of nature and the diversity of life. Each handcrafted light installation has been carefully designed to reflect the unique themes and atmospheres of the botanical garden and enchant visitors of all ages.

The fossil museum is designed as an outdoor museum and is accessible to interested visitors at any time and explains itself by means of texts and audio stations. A guided tour for a group of the museum with one of our local experts is highly recommended. Booking is possible by means of direct requests to the tourist office: info@moelten.net It is now a long time – 260 million years – since trees resembling today’s araucaria grew in Mölten/Meltina. The ginkgos produced feathery leaves, while tree-high horsetails stood between the village of Mölten/Meltina and the Möltner Kaser hut. It is astonishing that clearly identifiable forms of these South Tyrolean primeval forests remain: trees fell into the riverbank or were carried along by the current, embedded in sand and finally transformed into fossils. They can now be seen in the Fossil Museum, which was revitalised in 2023 and designed as an outdoor exhibition. It shows the best of the finds from the area around Mölten/Meltina. Particularly noteworthy are the fossil tree and plant remains, some 260 million years old, as well as the footprints of a small reptile. What is special about the fossils in Mölten/Meltina? There are only three places in South Tyrol where plant fossils from the Late Permian have been recovered: the Bletterbach Gorge; Seceda; and Mölten/Meltina. The finds from Mölten/Meltina are the only ones that reveal entire trees. Details of their growth, their branches, roots and size are all clearly visible, which makes it possible to reconstruct entire forests. The Fossil Museum has a fully equipped multifunctional room that can be hired for events for up to 30 people.

We will guide you to eight especially beautiful and powerful cultural places in our region, all of which are marked and numbered on the map. There is an appropriate clue for each place. You need to find a wooden template with a picture on it and then copy it into the correct space on your sheet. Once every location has been visited and all of the images found and correctly entered on the map, the map can be handed in to one of the tourist information offices in Hafling, Mölten or Jenesien. In addition to visit the best cultural spots on the Tschögglberg mountain ridge, you will be rewarded with a little surprise. Important: Don’t forget your pen!
