Starting and end point of this charming and varied hike is the traditional Niederdorf/Villabassa (1.154m), which we reach sustainably and in a pleasant short train ride. Here is also the heart of Pustertal Valley tourism, which got its start here in 1871. We first cross the charming village along the rushing Rienz river and through the beautiful park we reach the restaurant Weiherbad Hiking gently upwards in an impressive landscape scenery, we reach the sunny hamlet of Aufkirchen/Santa Maria (1.322m), characterized by its beautiful pilgrimage church. Here you can enjoy a splendid view of the Dolomites and the magnificent Toblach/Dobbiaco widening. After a short descent, we soon reach the center of Toblach/Dobbiaco (1.200m) and pass this well-known culturally rich touristic community in the "Land of the Three Peaks". Via a pleasant hiking trail, along the banks of the brook Silvesterbach stream towards the Mini Zoo Animal Park Olympia, then we return to the train station which was also the starting point. This year in December there will take place the 57th edition of the Saslong Classic, valid for the FIS Ski World Cup. The athletes of the Super-G will go in scene on Friday 15th December 2023 and the day after, Saturday 16th December 2023, will attempt the stars of the classic downhill race on the Saslong. Don't miss this amazing event with the stars and champions of the alpine ski world cup. On Thursday, the presentation of the Super-G athletes and the presentation of the Ski Club Val Gardena will take place on Piazza S. Antonio. On Friday there will be the Super-G award ceremony and the downhill athletes presentation.

Val Gardena is a paradise for skiers regardless of their level: newbies and passionate amateur skiers spend their holidays in the valley. However, for a few days a year, the skiing slopes of Dolomites Val Gardena attract the creme de la creme of skiing. And you, as our guests, will have the opportunity of following the skiing stars live from the edge of the slopes as they battle for a place on the podium of the FIS World Cup. The history of the World Cup in Dolomites Val Gardena goes back to the 1970s. The Saslong slope is one of the most beautiful and well-known stages of the world cup, what with its famous and feared ‘camel hump’ and speeds of up to 100 km an hour. The Ski World Cup took place in 1970 in Dolomites Val Gardena, among other places; on that occasion the whole skiing world set its eyes on the Saslong slope. Women and men took part in dozens and dozens of races on the slope as well as on the region’s other famous slopes: Ronc, Ciampinoi and Cir. Today, a super-G and a men’s downhill race take place in Dolomites Val Gardena once a year. Local celebrities and international legends fulfilled their dream of one day being the winner of the FIS ski World Cup in Dolomites Val Gardena.
