The Dolomites and the surrounding area are rich in geological diversity. This has created a unique landscape. The minerals and fossils in the rocks of our mountains are silent witnesses to the events that have marked the history of the Earth and, in particular, of the Alpine region. These treasures of science and beauty, which have fascinated mankind for millennia, are important for understanding the processes that led to the formation of this magnificent mountain landscape. All this can be seen and experienced through workshops, activities, excursions, talks and guided tours of the exhibition during the Geology Week. Join in!     Folk dance in Ortisei

    Dive into the fascinating world of traditional dance with the folk dance group of Ortisei. Experience an exhilarating performance as we dance with lively steps and graceful movements through the pedestrian area of Ortisei. Let yourself be carried away by our energy and passion for traditional dance, and discover the cultural diversity of our community in a truly special way! The folk dance group “Grupa Balarins de Gherdëina Urtijëi” was founded in 1963 and has been active without interruption since then. The group dances traditional folk dances based on a long tradition thereunder typical dances for thanksgiving, dances having the intent to attract the other gender and also typical “Schuhplattler”. The “Schuhplattler” dances are demonstrated by male dancers only. All dancers are wearing the “Grödner-Tracht” (traditional costume) which is known as one of the most beautiful and most precious of the alpine area. Due to numerous performances in our country as well as abroad and on TV, the group is very well known far beyond South Tyrol.

    Schloss Prösels: adventure nights with Fridolin Pröselstein - the last ghost
    Völs am Schlern/Fiè allo Sciliar, Dolomites Region Seiser Alm
    Knight Friedrich, the once most terrifying ghost of all castles and palaces, is apparently up to his tricks again in his home castle. However, he is getting on in years and has forgotten how to haunt properly. The task now is to track down the ghost and teach him how to "spook" again. Will the children succeed? But the children aged between 7 and 10 will experience a lot more at Prösels Castle. Under the supervision of professional guides, they will eat dinner together at the big knights' table, play medieval games, read from the big book of fairy tales and sleep in the knights' hall. After breakfast, the children will be collected by their parents.     Following the old railroad line of the abandoned Dolomites Railway to the Lake Lago di Dobbiaco, passing the war cemetery to Lake Lago di Landro. Enchanting panoramic view towards the world-famous Three Peaks. Via an old military road in direction of the Plätzwiese high plateau at 2000m with an overwhelming view of the Dolomites. Return via the Pustertal Valley bike route. Compulsory use of helmets. Suitable for children aged 12 and over. Possibility to stop for refreshments. Difficulty: medium-challenging.     Guided crossing of the Spronser Lakes
    Riffian/Rifiano, Meran/Merano and environs
    Hike to South Tyrol's largest mountain lake landscape in an incredibly fascinating and unique mountain world. We take the public bus to Pfelders/Plan. Our hike begins in the idyllic mountain village of Pfelders/Plan. With hiking guide Heinrich we hike along trail no. 6 to the Faltschnalalm and on to the Faltschnaljöchl and the Spronser Joch (2,581 m). From here we have a breathtaking view of the 3,000-metre peaks of the Texel Group as well as the lakes of Sprons. The descent takes us to the Oberkaser and further along trail no. 22 over the Mutkopf to the mountain station of the Hochmuth cable car. The cable car takes us back to the valley and from there we take the bus back to the starting point. Hiking time: ca. 7 h | Altitude difference: ascent ca. 960 m, descent ca. 1,230 m

    50-minute hike from the Auronzo hut (2330m) to the Paternsattel. The blue hour is the time of calm and transition, heralding the imminent sunrise with a picturesque play of colours. The hike to the Langalm and back to the starting point completes this unique nature experience. Round trip with the hiking bus.
