Traditional Transhumance - welcoming of the cattle
    Kastelruth/Castelrotto, Dolomites Region Seiser Alm
Traditional Transhumance with Festivities and Folk Music. In October, it’s time for the cattle, horses, goats, and sheep that spent the summer on the Seiser Alm to return to the valley. On the Seiser Alm, the Transhumance is traditionally celebrated on Rosary Saturday, the Saturday before the Harvest Festival. Starting at 10:30 a.m., cows adorned with flower wreaths and bells fill the streets of Compatsch. The colorful herd of around 250 cattle, sheep, horses, and goats, along with decorated carts, then heads towards the valley and Kastelruth around midday. Festivities on the Seiser Alm in Compatsch begin at 10:00 a.m. with commentary - the „Goasslschnalzern“, alphorn players, the dance group „Alpler Plattler Gitschen“, the brass band "St. Martin in Thurn", the music group "Schlernblech", a farmers' market, and demonstrations of old farming crafts. Food and drink will be provided. Festivities in Kastelruth start at 10:00 a.m. with commentary - For many years, it has been a tradition to celebrate the return from the Alm with music, dancing, food, and drink. The Farmers' Buffet and the Hunting Association of Kastelruth will provide refreshments at the entrance to Kastelruth, along the beautiful promenade. The Alphorn players, the Garner „Schuhplattler“, the „Goasslschnalzer“ and the musical group „Schlernwind“ will provide entertainment. The festive procession with the animals and their handlers is expected to arrive in Kastelruth around 1:30 p.m. We recommend that you watch the entire Transhumance from the Seiser Alm to Kastelruth, as not all animals make it to Kastelruth. Some farmers take their animals to their farms before reaching Kastelruth. You can easily reach the Seiser Alm with the Seiser Alm Cable Car from Seis am Schlern. On this special day, you can use the Seis-Seiser Alm Cable Car at a special price of €14.00 (round trip)! Buses no. 3, 3A and 172 run between the Seiser Alm cable car and Kastelruth. Please note the road closures: after a certain time, no buses will run to Kastelruth, so you may need to travel to Telfen and walk from there to Kastelruth. Tour buses can reach the Seiser Alm before 9:00 a.m. Since the road will be closed for return traffic until 2:00 p.m., tour buses can only drive down after 2:00 p.m. Alternatively, tour buses can park at the Seiser Alm Cable Car station, and guests can reach the Seiser Alm by cable car. In Kastelruth, tour buses can drop off guests at the bus station and then park at the "Tirlerhof" parking lot, 1 km away. Please pay attention to road closures.

    The Original Törggelen
    Ritten/Renon, Bolzano/Bozen and environs
The bonfire of chestnuts kicking off the event at all the Buschenschänke taverns. Participating at Ritten/Renon: - Ebnicher/Oberbozen, guided tour of the farm and chestnut groves, tel. +39 329 6085866. - Rielinger/Siffian, wine tasting, tel. +39 0471 356274. Autumn is upon us. Leaves in hues of gold and scarlet-red begin to dot the mountains, and the aroma of grapes, ripened by the summer sun, still wafts through the vineyards. This is the environment in which the Törggelen tradition was born: the farmers would invite friends and neighbors to their wine cellars and cozy Stuben parlors in order to celebrate the crushing of the grapes. Today, in keeping with authentic practice of the tradition, chestnuts from neighboring groves are served together with homemade wine, and visitors can sample local specialties. As part of the Original Törggelen event, rural taverns known as Buschenschänke have been selected that meet the quality criteria of the Red Rooster brand. This year there are 18 taverns: located in the Isarco/Etschtal Valley, around Bozen and Meran, and along the Wine Route. The taverns in the Isarco/Etschtal Valley are connected to one another by the Eisacktal Chestnut Trail ("Keschtnweg"). Inauguration The bonfire of chestnuts, or Keschtnfeuer, will be lit at 7 p.m., kicking off the Original Törggelen event at all nine Buschenschänke taverns. In addition to serving fine wines, roasting chestnuts and preparing local specialties, the farmers will conduct tours and wine tastings starting at 6 p.m. Advance bookings are required at the participating farms (limited number of participants).

Exhibitors from Five Countries For the 47th time, the large international collectors’ fair, Lanaphil, will take place on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Lana/South Tyrol. The event will run from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and will be a meeting point for collectors. About 50 exhibitors and many collectors will be present in the large hall, the foyer, and on the stage of the Raiffeisenhaus in Lana. Exhibitors and visitors from the following five countries will participate: Italy, Austria, Germany, Belgium, and the Czech Republic. Twice a Year Collectors’ Fair The founder and organizer, Albert Innerhofer, a passionate collector of old and historical postcards, first organized this collectors' meeting in Lana on October 22, 2000. Since then, the event has been very popular, taking place twice a year—once in April and once in October—in the Raiffeisenhaus of Lana, South Tyrol. Thanks to visits to many collectors' fairs both in Italy and abroad, many friendships and contacts with other collectors have developed, some of which have lasted for decades and are still ongoing today. At this fair, old historical postcards, stamps (including personalized stamps), coins, letters, pre-philatelic items, historical stock certificates, banknotes, military items, and other memorabilia such as books, engravings, old photos, and accessories will be available for trade, purchase, or sale. Personalized Stamps Each year at Lanaphil, new personalized stamps are released. Currently, the following personalized stamps are available: Heinrich Dalla Rosa (1909-1945), a priest from Lana who was executed by the Nazis on January 24, 1945 – 2024 Dipl.-Ing. Dr. h.c.
