    Today Badia celebrates the traditional "segra dl paisc", a festival for the whole village! The day begins with a solemn mass in the church, followed by the traditional homecoming of the cattle from the mountain pastures at 3.00 p.m. Of course, there are also culinary specialities and musical entertainment.     The legendary Schupfenfest in San Genesio is a rustic gastronomic festival that enthuses locals and tourists alike. The festival offers the opportunity to combine the pleasure of a beautiful hike in the alpine pastures with the enjoyment of traditional South Tyrolean specialities in mountain huts. The itinerary allows visitors to stop along the way at various 'Schupfe', or huts in South Tyrolean dialect, between San Genesio and Meltina, sampling various typical specialities, from the inevitable farmer's snack to dumplings, Strauben and other sweet pancakes. Of course, there is no shortage of good music or company. So, off to the Schupfenfest in Jenesien, possibly in traditional costumes: lederhosen and dirndl!

    Festival Sauders
    Villanders/Villandro, Brixen/Bressanone and environs
    The festival Sauders begins at 10:00 with the Holy Mass in the church of Sauders. From 11:00 then starts the festivities at the Winklerhof with performance of the folk dance group Oberrasen and the young Schuhplattler from Villanders. Music and entertainment will be provided by the Natterer Inntaler and the Südtiroler Tanzlmusig, where all dancing fans will meet on the large dance floor. Delicious Törggele dishes will be on the table, a raffle will be organized and for children there will be a playground and trampoline on site.

    Traditional celebration Name Maria with procession and festival
    Schlanders/Silandro, Vinschgau/Val Venosta
    At the celebration the statue of Mary descends from the altar and is solemnly carried in procession through the village, accompanied by the music band of Silandro and the group “Schützen” with saluting guns. Afterwards, the garden festival of the band of Schlanders will take place at the Matscher Au. History: 1799 Silandro was threatened by Napoleon's troops, and in this misery the “Schützen” sought their refuge in the grace picture Mary in the parish church. The "Schützen" praised to celebrate this Sunday for all time as a thank you and to bring the statue of Mary in procession through the city. In fact, the enemy withdrew.

    The return of the cattle

    When the cattle returns from mountain pastures, people celebrate it with a colourful event in autumn, every year the weekend before last of September. For this event, called “Almabtrieb”, the cows are decorated with alpine flowers, mirrors and bells. Traditional dishes, like "Krapfen", "Strauben" and "Tirtl" are made by the farmers' wives. Of course there is also traditional music, folk dance like the "Schuhplattler" and folcloristic spectacles of the "Goaslschnöller".

    37. Val Casies Mountain Pasture Festival

    Every year in September, the traditional Gsieser Almhüttenfest (Val Casies Mountain Pasture Festival) takes place in the Val Casies Valley, a highlight that attracts many hiking enthusiasts every year. The festival takes place alternately in the villages of Colle, S. Martino or S. Maddalena to give the many visitors the opportunity to get to know the numerous alpine pastures and the mountain world of the Val Casies Valley. This year the associations of Colle organise the traditional 37° Val Casies Mountain Pasture Festival on the Gallfallalm in San Martino. Starting point: S. Martino/village centre. The festival begins at 10.30 am. with a Holy Mass. In the characteristic alpine huts, various local dishes are served. Rustic folk music & children programme. A unique and unforgettable celebration to end the summer in Val Casies Valley.

    Saus dl Altonn - The Flavour of autumn
    Badia, Dolomites Region Alta Badia
    The peacefulness and colours of autumn are the frame to "Saus dl Altonn", the flavours of autumn, an event created to exalt this wonderful period of the year with good food, the genuine produce of the land and activities dedicated to nature and to the Dolomites. From September 15th to October 6th 2024, a few mountain huts of Alta Badia, that can be reached on foot, by bicycle or by cableway, will be matched with a producer and the corresponding locally product of excellence. Each mountain hut will present a menu specially created for the occasion, highlighting the product assigned. Over the three weeks of the event, the producers will be present at the huts to illustrate the special features of their products, which may also be directly purchased. The programme also envisages many other activities aimed at revealing the many excellences of Alta Badia, enjoying an absolutely unforgettable experience in the Dolomites.     Charming harp sounds
    Eppan an der Weinstaße/Appiano sulla Strada del Vino, The South Tyrolean Wine Road
    Together with three other artists - Adam Javorkai, Hannes Schöggl and Andrej Stepita - she presents music for solo harp and in an interesting combination with electronics, cello, percussion and dance. The following day she will also be giving a talk concert with students from Eppan. Veronica Klavzar is this year's winner of the Heinrich von Mörl Scholarship in the "Young Talents" category. She enjoyed early musical education from the age of five and attended harp courses at the Bruneck Music School. In 2016, she graduated from the harp course at the Monteverdi Conservatory in Bolzano with a diploma.

    TESTIVAL Day tour: Peaks & Trails 2.0

    This tour is a must because it's simply fun! The Plose Bike guides have discovered new, challenging trails that are accessible after an additional ascent. But don't worry, for those who want to take it easy, there is still the classic, easier route available. And for those who don't know the tour yet- look forward to three peaks and varied trails! The Gitschberg Jochtal cable cars do most of the elevation gain for us. After a steep, not too long ascent, we reach the Kleine Gitsch and thus our first summit. A varied mix of technical, flowing and rough trails lead us down into the valley of Vals, where a leisurely climb to the next cable car awaits us. After another ride on the cable car, we reach our lunch stop. Refreshed, we have another ascent to the second summit, the Stoanamandl. Take a short breather and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountain landscape. On the third peak, the Alte Karl, we enjoy our third summit moment.     From the Plätzwiese mountain inn, slightly ascending to the first turn-off and across meadows, later the path becomes somewhat steeper up to the ruined fortresses and up to the Strudelkopf with its imposing homecoming cross. The summit cross offers a fantastic panorama from the Three Peaks to the Cristallo, Cadini Group, Zwölfer and numerous other Dolomite peaks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The way back is via the Dürrenstein hut and its access road. Backpacking provisions or refreshments possibility. Difficulty: easy-medium. Time: 8.30 am.-3.00 pm. Walking time: 4 hours.
