Val Gardena is a paradise for skiers regardless of their level: newbies and passionate amateur skiers spend their holidays in the valley. However, for a few days a year, the skiing slopes of Dolomites Val Gardena attract the creme de la creme of skiing. And you, as our guests, will have the opportunity of following the skiing stars live from the edge of the slopes as they battle for a place on the podium of the FIS World Cup. The history of the World Cup in Dolomites Val Gardena goes back to the 1970s. The Saslong slope is one of the most beautiful and well-known stages of the world cup, what with its famous and feared ‘camel hump’ and speeds of up to 100 km an hour. The Ski World Cup took place in 1970 in Dolomites Val Gardena, among other places; on that occasion the whole skiing world set its eyes on the Saslong slope. Women and men took part in dozens and dozens of races on the slope as well as on the region’s other famous slopes: Ronc, Ciampinoi and Cir. Today, a super-G and a men’s downhill race take place in Dolomites Val Gardena once a year. Local celebrities and international legends fulfilled their dream of one day being the winner of the FIS ski World Cup in Dolomites Val Gardena. Among the winners of the downhill we have known skiers such as Peter Müller, Rob Boyd, Michael Walchhofer and Kristian Ghedina.

The traditional monthly market is held on the market square from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm.

In the meantime, the formation has played many live gigs at home and abroad. A contemplative village stroll if desired, enjoying wine and fine treats in festive garb, embedded in culinary traditions with both old customs and new practices that will join them. A celebration of joy, sharing, and community, surrounded by music and hospitality in the heart of Kaltern.

The Helios Youth Group from Ortisei in Val Gardena was founded in 1977 by local young people with the support of the then chaplain, Mr Jakob Ploner. The youth group sings at Holy Masses, youth festivals, weddings in South Tyrol and also abroad. The group was among the first in South Tyrol to sing modern rhythmic songs in church and was an example for many other groups. The style of music relied heavily on the songs of the groups 'Gen Verde' and 'Gen Rosso'. In the meantime, the group developed its own style and wrote numerous songs. This led to the first recording of a cassette tape with songs in the Ladin language in the 1980s under the title 'Ulon viver' ('We want to live').

It's Christmas time! The whole family listens to the wintry stories read by the volunteers of the library of Seis. Afterwards tea and biscuits round the fire. The event is held in German.

The evening will be accompanied by the sounds of Helga Plankensteiner & Michael Lösch. The proceeds will be donated to a good cause.

They want to make a positive impact on the global choral community by taking part in respected competitions and festivals. With a focus on musical passion and showcasing their culture, the Ladinia Women's Chorus keeps moving forward. Their beautiful voices connect with people, showing the world the rich heritage and talent of the Ladin community. The successful choir from South Africa "Eunice Vitae Cantamus Chor" under the direction of Retha Visser will sing in S. Cristina.

Jingle Bells Rock - The Christmas season is introduced with swinging tones. A group of singers, the youth choir of the music school Lana as well as the music school band invite you to the X-Mas feeling, Capuchin garden Lana, from 16.00-17.30.

At the Christmas workshop we make Christmas tree decorations and lanterns. The participation is free of charge, no registration needed.
