    Church Sanct Moritz

    The little church of the saint Mauritius in Sauders is situated to the south of the village centre. The church was mentioned the first time in an official document in 1406. Around 1670 the little church was converted in a baroque style. However, the church and some surrounding houses were burned to ashes by the French in 1793. Nowadays, the painting at the high altar represents the patron saint of the church. The key for a visit can be received at the “Winklerhof – farm”.

    Military stone of the romans
    Olang/Valdaora, Dolomites Region Kronplatz/Plan de Corones

    The roman miliary stone (201 a.C.) was found in 1958 by the Prugger brother while building the power station in Oberolang. The miliary stone stil reported the original incisions made by the roman Emperor Settimo Severo (193-211 a.C.) and his sonsCaracalla and Geta. Now the roman miliary stone is positioned near the Hotel Alte Goste in Oberolang/ Valdaora di Sopra.

    Named after the Virgin Mary, the church and its tower date back to
    Romanesque times. The church was rebuilt and re-consecrated in 1638. A
    stone with a magnificent coat of arms is set above the pointed archway
    and the 17th Century Cross on the west façade survived a devastating
    village fire in 1876.

    On the Val Venosta wine route hikers can enjoy an insightful and pleasurable tour throughout the year. For long distances the wine route follows the rogge, which were originally built as artificial irrigation channels. At times, it runs past farms or crosses private property and vineyards. The people who live and work here are happy to offer passers-by a glimpse into their wayof life and work. Hikers and lovers of nature asked to respect the property and traditions of this region and to approach nature with care. Along the way notice boards provide information on the landscape, the wine, the restaurants and other food outlets, and the local wineries.
    The 2.5 hour long hike can also be undertaken in sections and in both directions.

    Paul Flora Museum
    Glurns/Glorenza, Vinschgau/Val Venosta

    Paul Flora, graphic artist and illustrator from Glurns, drew cartoons for Die Zeit for about 25 years. His life centred around Innsbruck, but Glurns always remained a point of reference for him. Thus it was his wish to be buried here in 2009. There is a permanent Paul Flora exhibition in the church gate tower.

    "Burgfrieden" chapel - Rasun di Sopra

    The chapel near the court Burgfrieden on the western side of the valley is one of the youngest chapel in Rasun / Rasen. It is privately owned and belongs to the Burgfrieder farm.

    Patronal feast: 6th of December

    The core building dates back to the 13th century (late Romanesque brickwork on the tower floor and on the west wall). Around 1520, a new building was built by construction workers from Como. Vault paintings have been made by Bartlmä Dill Riemenschneider, son of Tilman Riemenschneider. Since 1733 pilgrimage place.

    The idyllic Lech Sant (Ladin for ‘Holy Lake’) is the largest mountain lake on the Mastlé Alm. The meadow at the edge of the lake with a magnificent view on the Odle peaks invites you to linger and relax.

    St. Andrea church in Chiusa/Klausen

    The church is mentioned for the first time in the year 1208. The today lategothical building was implemented by the master Benedikt Weibhauser from Brixen and inaugurated in the year 1494. On the inside a leaflet explains the building history of the church and the artistic equipement.

    Church of St. Vigilius
    Kurtatsch an der Weinstraße/Cortaccia sulla Strada del Vino, Alto Adige Wine Road

    The Parish church of St. Vigilius with its Romanesque church tower was mentioned for the first time in 1337. The old baptismal font inside dates from an earlier time, from 1033. At the beginning of the 16th century, the church was remodeled and a sandstone arch was added. In 1850, the late Gothic high altar was built where the baroque altarpiece showing the martyrium of Str. Vigilius was built in. A further gem inside the Cortaccia church is the legendary crying picture of the Virgin Mary which was first exhibited on July 17, 1738 and has since been the goal of many pilgrims.

    The story of the Benedictine Monastry of Muri Gries Dates back to the 13th Century, commissioned by the Counts of Morit-Greifenstein. It was first inhabitated by Augustinian Monks, then pillaged during farmer's war, destroyed during the Napolenic war and discontinuing during the Bavarian government. The curch ist dedicated to St. Augustin and houses important frescoes by Martin Knoller. Access permitted only to the inner gatter.
