    Trail f | Jochgrimm - Schwarzhorn - Truden
Aldein/Aldino, The South Tyrolean Wine Road

This challenging hike begins from the Jochgrimm. You then have to master approx. 500 meters of altitude-differential until you come to the Schwarzhorn (2,439 meters above sea-level). The trail then leads you around and down the other side of the Schwarzhorn until you come to the Kugeljoch; from this pass, you have a magnificent panoramic view of the Fleims Valley. You can now proceed down the "Leitensteig" staircase until you reach the Kaltenbrunn "Ice Holes," where it's pleasantly cool even in the summertime. From Kaltenbrunn (where hikers will find a number of refreshment options and also access to public transportation), there is still a short segment slightly uphill to Truden. This is a uniquely beautiful hike and is – in spite of the level of difficulty – an absolute "must" for ambitious hikers.

    San Sigismondo/St. Sigmund butterfly trail
Kiens/Chienes, Dolomites Region Kronplatz/Plan de Corones

    San Sigismondo/St. Sigmund butterfly trail

Scattered throughout the sunny hillside between San Sigismondo/St. Sigmund and Terento/Terenten, the local farms have long shaped and fostered the landscape with great care. Colourful meadows in full bloom, scented forests and plenty of pristine nature – the perfect habitat for butterflies of all kinds and sizes. Along the path you can learn a lot of interesting information about the butterflies on display boards and rest on original benches.
Before setting off, don't forget to pay a visit to the beautiful Gothic church of San Sigismondo/St. Sigmund. This parish church is one of the most exquisite architectural heritage sites in all of South Tyrol. First mentioned in the records as early as 1363, the current form was built between 1449 and 1489 and is home to one of the oldest and most significant winged altars in the region which dates back to 1440.
Further on along the trail, many curious sights bear witness to the influence of nature and time: Alongside scores of glacial erratics, the Casteldarne/Ehrenburg Giants are the stuff legends are made of – and legend has it that they used huge rocks to tear down Guggenschlössl Castle, leaving only its ruins as a reminder of wilder times. The ruins of Aschburg Castle on the other hand are the only remnants of the former hunting lodge used by the Schöneck hunting gentry. Past the Schiffereggerhof you return to the starting point.

    Trail b | Aldein - Montan
Montan/Montagna, The South Tyrolean Wine Road

On this segment, you will proceed from Aldein uphill to Montan. At first, you can proceed along a relatively relaxing trail until you reach Holen. From there, it gets steeper until you reach the Aldein Bridge (known as the "Little European Bridge" when first built in the 1960s). This is a good opportunity to make a rest-stop and/or get some refreshments. You then continue along the former route of the Fleims Valley railroad, through spruce forests (common here on the southwest flank of the Cislon). Just before arriving at Montan, you'll pass by the Elsenhof farmstead and the impressive Enn Castle. Then, continue via the "Wine Forest Water" Trail to the center of the village of Montan, famed for its Pinot Noir, at an elevation of 500 meters above sea-level. This is the end of the route.

Mountain Tour to the Peak of the Hirzer Mountain (2,781 m)
St.Martin in Passeier/San Martino in Passiria, Meran/Merano and environs

A certain measure of sure-footedness and a good head for heights is needed for this Alpine tour. Below the ridge, there are a few uncomfortable passages on the craggy trail. Between the ridge and the peak, the terrain is steep and somewhat exposed. However, the well-trodden trail is well constructed everywhere where possible. The return trail between the ridge and the peak is on the Sarntal valley side. From the peak, magnificent panoramic views can be enjoyed.

The Val Gardena Railway trail - La ferata de Gherdëina
    Urtijëi/Ortisei, Dolomites Region Val Gardena

Val Gardena Railway was constructed long time ago, when the region was part of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy. In its 44 years during which it was operating, it strongly influenced the valley and brought many tourists to it, above all in the last years. The railway was running from 1916 to 1960 and was completed in record time. In fact, construction was started in September 1915 and in February 1916 the railway was officially inaugurated. 6.000 Russian soldiers who were prisoners during the World War did this great work.

On the comfortable way with panoramic view from S. Cristina to Roncadizza, you will find several information boards with historical pictures, which explain the Val Gardena Railway history.

    Elevation Trail Langtaufers
Graun im Vinschgau/Curon Venosta, Vinschgau/Val Venosta
A very long and challenging, but also very rewarding trail run high above the Langtauferer Valley. From Graun, the trail climbs steeply over the Rossböden Alm up to 2,700 m, where the high-altitude trail then leads partly inward. The path winds its way along the mountain ridge in a constant up and down. The views of the surrounding glaciers, especially the Ortler Group, are breathtaking! After about 20 km, there is the option to run to Melag if a storm is approaching or if you are already very tired. However, if the weather is good and you have enough energy reserves, you should definitely continue to the Weißkugelhütte, where you can replenish your energy stores before tackling the downhill.
Be sure to pay attention to having enough provisions; there are many streams to refill water, but no managed hut until the Weißkugelhütte.
