Winter Hike: from Moso/Moos to the Nemes Alp
    Sexten/Sesto, Dolomites Region 3 Zinnen

"A wonderful, easy winter hike with a lovely mountain hut to stop at for refreshments.
Route: The trail goes uphill from Moso towards the Berghotel. If you turn right at the first fork you come to the Froneben mountain inn (1,540 m). Now you walk on trail no. 139 across the Obere Oltl upland moor to trail no. 13, a forest road. This leads through dense pine forests to the gorge carved out by the Sextner Bach stream. At a fork in the trail near a tall cross, you continue straight on to a lovely high plateau called ""Saumahd"". From here it takes about 30 minutes to reach the Nemes Alm or the Sextner Alm Alpine farms (1,877 m; refreshments available). Wide areas of Alpine pasture extend in all directions. There is also a wonderful view of the Sexten Dolomites and the Cadore mountain range. From the Nemes Alm Alpine farm it takes about 45 minutes to reach the Coltrondo Alm Alpine farm.
Return: From the Nemes Alm or the Coltrondo Alm farm, head down to the Kreuzberg Pass and return to Moso either on foot (1.5 hours) or by bus.
Tips and special remarks: No car is required for this easy hike; you should take a hiking map. You can also do the tour in the opposite direction, travelling to the Kreuzberg Pass by bus and so saving a climb of about 250 metres. "

Its exposed location also made it one of the oldest prehistoric settlements in South Tyrol.
The Romanesque church of St. Hippolytus is enthroned on the hill.

    The Pinot Noir Trail
Auer/Ora, The South Tyrolean Wine Road

The Pinot Noir Trail in the south of South Tyrol is a new educational path where you can learn more about our land’s culture and its wines. It winds through the famed Pinot Noir vineyards and along the Trudner Horn Nature Park. It starts at the quaint villages of Auer, Montan, and Neumarkt in the Unterland district and leads you through Italy’s best Pinot Noir terroirs in Mazon, Glen, and Pinzon. You can choose between a 14-km-long one-day outing or three half-day tours.
Along the way, hikers and strollers will encounter various historical spots and cultural highlights – e.g., the significant archeological sites of Castelfeder, the oldest segment of the Fiemme Valley railway, St. Stephan’s Church in Pinzon with its late-Gothic Altar by the Master Hans Klocker, the idyllic St. Michael’s Church in Mazon, the ruins of Kaldiff, and the handsome Enn Castle. Along the way, information panels and interactive stations will help you learn more about this unique wine-growing area and its history. You’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the Unterland district. The differences in elevation shouldn’t be a problem as most of the route is relatively level. But there’s a lot to explore and discover, for young and old alike! It’s easy, comfortable, and suitable for
families. The route is open 12 months a year. A red “B” will lead the way.

    Hike on the Alpinism Trail
Sand in Taufers/Campo Tures, Ahrntal/Valle Aurina

Since ancient times the population of Ahrntal was always closely related to its mountains. The south side of the Zillertal Alps, the Hohe Tauern and the Rieserferner mountains have left impressions on its surrounding life and people. Whereas years ago the high peaks were unaccessible and unclimbable, the situation changed with land surveying in the 19th century and the flourishing of tourism around the turn of the century. Alpinism can thus be seen as a foundation for tourism in Sand in Taufers. The valley became interesting as there was a lot of, until then unknown, new climbing territory which attracted climbers from England and Germany to conquer first ascents. Simultaneously, the need for mountain guides and the construction of shelters and paths emerged. The most famous local mountain guide around the previous turn of the century was Johann Niederwieser Stabeler, the most famous local climber of the modern era is Hans Kammerlander. The path gives us insight into the mountaineering of the valley from past to present times. Charts and symbols along the way. Trail conditions: forest road. Difficulty: easy, walkable from spring to late autumn.
