    The three Holy Wells
    Vinschgau/Val Venosta

Located at the foot of King Ortles, the church of the three Holy Wells in Trafoi tells a special story: In the 13th century, the shepherd Moritz saw three little streams break from the rocks in the spot where the chapel now stands. Each of the streams carried a cross. The shepherd was able to grab two of them, but the third was washed away. When the little church was erected in the 15th century, the site became a place of pilgrimage and the healing powers of the holy wells are still spoken of today.

    Minnehus
    Lajen/Laion

Walther von der Vogelweide is the most successful and most quoted singer of the Middle Ages and, according to historical research, almost certainly Lajen's most famous citizen from a past century. About 500 stanzas have been preserved by the master of „Minnesang“ and have been preserved for posterity in various manuscripts. On the basis of his song texts, it is possible to reconstruct his eventful life, his values and his role in medieval society. Walther was an admirer of women, a mouthpiece of his time and sometimes a strenuous contemporary due to his sharp tongue.

The interactive exhibition in the Minnehus is dedicated to the life and work of the medieval star in more than 40 interactive, creative, acoustic and visual stations. Visitors soon realize that although Walther lived in the 12th and 13th centuries, his echo still resonates today.

    Hochmuth Viewing Platform
    Meran/Merano and environs

On the Hochmuth below Steinegg there is a viewing platform that looks like a stylised basket. This references the historically arduous life working the land on the steep slopes of the Muthof farms, where, with the help of winches, baskets of earth and manure were pulled up to the fields so that they could be cultivated again.
The viewing platform provides a breathtaking panoramic view of Merano and the Etsch Valley as well as the surrounding mountains. The platform is equipped with two telescopes and provides information on the mountains that can be seen from the Hochmuth, as well as on the cultivation of the steep fields of the Muthof farms in days gone by.

    Biotope Ilstern/Ilistra
Kiens/Chienes, Dolomites Region Kronplatz/Plan de Corones

The Ilsterner Au biotope extends along a 1.3-kilometre stretch of the River Rienz/Rienza  and is located in the municipalities of Kiens/Chienes and Vintl/Vandoies. It consists of four hectares of water area and eight hectares of biotope area.
Floodplain forests are rich in water and plant nutrients, which provide an ideal setting for a colourful range of vegetation. While grey alders are the most common trees to be found in the Ilsterner Au floodplain forest, parts of it are also densely populated by spruces and pine trees.
Ash trees are the predominant plants in the eastern part of this biotope, which is a bustling home to many different animals. Countless fascinating insects and birds live here all year round, and many migratory birds can be observed on their way north or south.
The ecological function of a floodplain forest however is not limited to merely protecting its native wildlife: Biotopes also play a key role in maintaining the hydrological balance of their surroundings, since they act as a large water reservoir.  Moreover, in terms of landscape, it is an enriching counterpart to the intensively used landscape areas.
In the course of the sustainable revitalisation project, large parts of the terrain were lowered and the river bed widened and several groundwater ponds were created. The upper area with theme board is also considered a nature-oriented recreation zone for the local population in general and families and schools in particular.
