The Peace Trail (Friedensweg) in Caldaro/Kaltern
Kaltern an der Weinstraße/Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino, The South Tyrolean Wine Road

The Peace Trail (Friedensweg) in Caldaro was created between 1995 and 2000 by an action group led by Georg Reider. It leads from the Sportzone St. Anton car park across the cultural and natural landscape through the Kardatschertal valley or the wild Rastenbachklamm gorge to St Peter’s Church in Castelvecchio/Altenburg.

Seven stations invite hikers and pilgrims to pause and reflect. Artists have interpreted the five themes of “Moderation, Wisdom, Justice, Belief and Hope,” artistically applying them to the environment. The sixth station (Courage) is the Rastenbachklamm gorge. The seventh, Love, is represented by the ruins of the early Christian St Peter’s Church in Castelvecchio, probably the oldest church ruins in Tyrol.

Sturdy footwear is recommended for the hike and sure-footedness is also essential in some places.

The Witches’ Chairs and the Marinzen Alpine pasture
    Kastelruth/Castelrotto, Dolomites Region Seiser Alm

This hike takes you on the trail of the famous Schlern witches to the mystical witch's chairs. According to legend, the two rock chairs in the Tiosler Forest served as a resting place for the Schlern witches. Whether these are objects of prehistoric significance or simply a game of nature - we cannot say for sure. For the little ones, there is a children's playground at the Marinzen alpine pasture.

    Dolomites High Route n. 2
    Brixen/Bressanone, Dolomites Region Alta Badia

The Dolomites High Route n. 2 was among the first of 10 “official” Dolomites High Routes to be described and signposted. The High Route is also known as the "way of the legends" as it passes through Dolomites mountains and valleys rich in myths and legends: for example the Odle group and the Sella group with the legends of the Ladin people or Feltre with the tales of ogres and witches. The multi-day excursion can be completed in several stages going from north to south. Starting point is Bressanone/Brixen, the quaint town of South Tyrol, rich in history. Arrival is the town of Feltre with the river Piave, witness of some of the tragic events of World War I. The route crosses three provinces, Bolzano, Trento and Belluno and 10 mountain groups (Plose, Pütia/Peitlerkofel, Odle/Geisler, Puez, Sella, Padon, Marmolada, Bocche, Pala, Feltre group), among which Plose, Padon and the Lusia-Bocche group are not part of the Dolomites. The Dolomites High Route n. 2 offers a nice variety of hiking and climbing and the chance to discover art and culture. So, for example, it is worth a visit the city of Bressanone with its museums and works of art and, not to forget, the many historical sites of the 1st World War that you meet along the way.

    Monghezzo/Getzenberg mountain farm hike
Kiens/Chienes, Dolomites Region Kronplatz/Plan de Corones

Traditions and a glimpse of times long gone
The mountain farmsteads on the southern hillside of the Pusteria/Pustertal valley are a remnant of the times when the Romans began to settle in the area. Only little is left of the ancient baths of Ilistra/Ilstern, to which the locals once flocked in search of the soothing medicinal effect of its spa waters. Not far off, a small chapel has successfully defied the centuries and can easily be reached on a meditation trail. But hiking along Monghezzo/Getzenberg also offers plenty of impressions of the hard life and labour of mountain farmers, and the ancient farmhouses are often named after the dwellers' special dedication: The Vögler farmstead for example recalls the old Tyrolean tradition of fowling, or bird-catching.
Half-way up the route at 1112 m, the Jausenstation Hoferhof inn is a fine place for a break and some refreshments. A small, carefully restored chapel is all that is left of a hermitage which is said to have been located not far from the Getzenbergerhof inn. The Kustoler-Hof farmstead was named after the Romance term for a fortified area, and the Roman milestone on the western edge of the hamlet Casteldarne/Ehrenburg is yet another witness of the ancient settlements in and around Chienes/Kiens.

    The Bioenergetic Park
    Bolzano/Bozen, Bolzano/Bozen and environs
The Bioenergetic Park, a gift from Nature

The bioenergetic path that runs along the Isarco river is an area that offers the unique possibility of experiencing, in an urban area, a very close and deep contact with Nature. A recent and innovative bio-energetic study of the park, has revealed the electromagnetic fields generated by trees and their beneficial interplay with humans. Some of these electromagnetic frequencies can have a very favourable effect on certain organs or systems of the human body and, in particular conditions, their effect can extend up to several metres away from the tree, creating bio-energetic areas that are particularly suitable for a people wanting to take a regenerating break. Walk along the promenade in order to find bioenergetic areas that help your well-being. Signposts show you the main human organs on which the energy of the trees can have the greatest therapeutic effect.

It is recommended that you stay in these areas for at least 15 minutes to enjoy the benefits generously offered by Nature.

    Treehugging, a conscious embrace
here you can experience embracing a tree or simply lean against the trunk with your back. It is suggested that you remain in direct contact with the tree for 10 minutes, so that your body and mind can benefit from the useful energy impulses, thus stimulating the correct performance of the biological functions indicated.

The path to the Dreiländerstein has South Tyrolean and Austrian signposts and leads to the iconic stone which indicates the borders of Italy, Austria and Switzerland. The view stretches as far as the Inn valley, the Engadine and the mountains of Nauders and Samnaun. The way back is along path no. 4 and 5 via the Rescher Alm mountain pasture to the village of Reschen.
