    Climbing wall Montiggl
    The South Tyrolean Wine Road

    The climbing wall "Col dell'uomo" is located in the wood of Montiggl, nearby the Wilder Mann Bühel.

    Directions: Drive from St. Michael in the direction of Montiggl. Park at the sport center Rungg. Turn right from there and follow the path along the sports field. Going on from there the way is indicated by signs and you reach in ca. 20 minutes the climbing wall.

    On the climbing wall are at the moment 10 routes from the difficulty levels II to VII and the length from 6 up to 20 meters.

    Fishing in the lake Reschensee

    The northernmost area around Resia Lake retains its own fishing rights. Fishermen can enjoy their hobby with 2 fishing from the shore in the lake Reschensee. Boat fishing is not permitted. The fishing season begins on mid of May and ends on mid of September.

    Church of Pedross

    The Neo-Gothic church in Pedross was built from 1908 to 1912 according to the plans of the brothers Paul and Theodor Huter from Innsbruck under the curate Franz Habicher and inaugurated on 28 October 1912 by the Brixen prince-bishop Franz Egger. Patron Saint is the St. Martin, pictured in the large window behind the high altar. The church is painted yellow. It has an open porch and a rose window above the entrance to the west. The interior of the church is decorated with a barrel-shaped ribbed vault. The church has 10 large windows, all of which were donated by private individuals. The church has three altars designed, carved and painted by Josef Bachlechner. The pulpit, designed by Josef Bachlechner and made by J. Peitner from Wilten, shows Christ as sower and the four evangelists. The Stations of the Cross is a relief in wood, executed by the sculptor Franz Kobald from Schwaz. The left side altar is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the right to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The central theme of the neo-Gothic winged altar in the presbytery is the Holy Trinity. The outer sides of the wings show the victim of Melchizedek on the left and the sacrifice of Abraham on the right. Inside the altar shrine the saints Wolfgang and Wendelin are depicted. Wendelin is the patron saint of shepherds and peasants and was much revered in Langtaufers. The chapel in the nearby "Ochsenberg" is also consacrated the St Wendelin. Under the windows of the presbytery the seven sacraments of angels are represented in round medallions. On the ceiling of the whole church various herbs, flowers and medicinal plants are depicted. The cemetery is built around the church. Here the deceased are buried from thea first part of the valley.

    Chapel of Holy Leonhard at Nauders

    It is an insular, flat - roofed, long - standing church with a semicircular apse from 1130. Romanesque and Gothic frescoes lend the interior an extraordinary artistic appearance. The composition of the Romanesque frescoes is interpreted as traditio legis, the Gothic painting shows scenes from the life of Mary and the birth of Jesus

    Chapel of Melag

    The chapel in Melag dates from the 17th century. The bell in the wooden ridge is still rung every day in the morning and in the evening. Inside, a painting depicts the Coronation of Mary by the Most Holy Trinity and is signed with Jörg Fally. On the altar in a carved frame with foliage, vines and angel heads hangs a picture of Matthias Pussjäger, which represents the flight of the holy family to Egypt.

Barrique barrels in our naturalstone cellar hold special distillates up to 2 years, thus they get a pleasant mature and finesse! In our sortiment you will find various fruit brandies, berries brandies, grappa and liquors.

    Church St. Katharina

    The old parish church and the village of Graun were sacrificed for the sea stagnation in 1950. The new village was rebuilt in the fields of Margrond, and the church was much smaller in size than the new houses in Graun, planned by architect Erich Pattis from Bolzano.
    The church is a simple hall construction with a wooden ceiling. In the back of the church, in the simple sanctuary, is the organ, in the foreground the apse with the image of Catherine of Alexandria on the side to which this church is also dedicated. The main picture, however, shows the Assumption of Mary into heaven, since in the year of the consecration of the Church, the Pope had proclaimed a Marian year.
    The present parish church of Graun (foundation stone laying May 29, 1950, completion on 02.12.1951, consecration on May 18, 1954 by Bishop Josef Gargitter) was built together with the new village, but is much smaller than the old parish church.

    Little Montiggl Lake

    Imbedded between forest and hills scenery on 514 meters above sea level, small Montiggl Lake is located. A lot of different walking paths bring you to the lake. With the car you can park at the big Montiggl Lake or at the supercenter Rungg.

    The small Montiggl Lake has a shoreline of 890 meters and is only about 5 hectares big. Therefore it is a lot smaller then its “bigger brother”, but a lot deeper with a maximum depth of almost 15 meters.

    According to analyses the lake has very good data regarding the water quality and is therefore one of South Tyroles most popular swimming lake. It is not directly accessible by car, therefore it's more known for its relaxation and for enjoying the nature. One part of the lake has a grassed area and a small snack bar. Around small Montiggl Lake there is a walking path, along which you can find nice and cosy spots to relax or swim.

    To avoid car park problems, there is a public bus to Montiggl and back in the summertime.

    St. Anna church

    in the late Gothic style, was inaugurated in 1521. It contains an exterior wall fresco (1600) of George a martyr. Inside there is a endowment founded 1596 altar in Renaissance form is depicting the holy family, the Annunciation, James, John the Baptist and St. Agnes.     The chapel in Patscheid was probably built in the 17th century. It is a small building with a ridge turret and a bell from 1914. Inside the chapel hangs a panel painted on wood, depicting a picture of Mary with the saints Joseph and Anna.

    The chapel in the smal village of Gschwell was built in the first half of the 17th century. A votive tablet from the year 1661 shows Gschwell with the chapel and in the text below it says that a farmer from the "landtschwellhof" was taken by "a bull on the horn". Inside there is a carved altar and a Madonna and two bishops.

    Chapel of Kapron

    The chapel in Kapron was built by Josef Pläs (Blaas) in 1743 and renovated in 1908 by his granddaughter Aloisia Blaas. Both can be found in the inscription in the interior above the entrance of the chapel. In the chapel are various pictures with the cartridges: the ST. Sebastian, Our Lady with Child, Evangelist Johannes and St. Joseph. In May, Mayan prayers are held in the chapel and at funerals, processions and prayers the two bells of the chapel are rung.

    Bunker Resia Reschen

    The bunker 20 is located near Reschen to about 1550m above sea level. Here is also the source of the Adige, with its 415 km of Italy's second longest river. The bunker is dug partly into the rock and partly executed in concrete. It has a length of approximately 20 m and a walk-in area of ​​about 450 m²

    Naudersberg Castle was built in 1330 on behalf of the prince and served as a base and was the seat of a court. In 1499 the castle was stormed and lit. After the partition of Tyrol in 1919, the court was dissolved. Naudersberg Castle is now private property and includes a museum.

    Parish church in San Valentino/St. Valentin

    The first chapel of St. Valentin - a predecessor of today's church - was consecrated on 16 October 1140 and was the chapel belonging to St. Valentin's hospice, founded by Ulrich Primele from Burgeis.
    The present church was consecrated on 4 October 1832. The old bell tower was left out of money - except for a small increase.

    In winter you will find us mainly at Lake Reschen - a paradise for aspiring and active snowkiters. The spot is basically the whole area of the frozen, snow-covered Reschensee.

    Very briefly about the Reschensee:

    Lake Reschen, is a reservoir in the municipality of Graun in western South Tyrol. The artificial reservoir is six kilometers long and about one kilometer wide at the widest points and has a water capacity of 120 million m³. The reservoir at the Reschen Pass, with a church tower rising from its center, is the Mecca for kiters from many regions with optimal wind conditions almost every day. This makes snowkiters from neighboring countries also take the trip to Reschen.

    Church of Hinterkirch

    The church is located on a moraine heap at 1873 meters above sea level and is thus one of the highest parish churches in the diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas (6 December), the second patron is the St. Magdalena (July 22). It was first built in 1440. In the 1730 it was plundered by soldiers.

    Chapel of Raffein

    The chapel was probably built 300 to 400 years ago by the farmers of Raffein. It is a simple, small building with a round apse, a shingled roof and a wooden bell tower. The altar bears a picture of the crucifixion of Christ, below is a picture of St. Mary Magdalene. She is also the patroness of the chapel. In the case of a death in Malsau and Raffein, the bell is rung.
