Starting point of the ski tour to the Glockhauser mountain is the car park in Melago/Melag. From there north-westward across soft ground up to the last post of a disused ski lift. Across the steep slope towards the right and further towards Melagtal Valley. At the bridge, cross to the right-hand side of the valley and at a height of 2,300 m veer left to the Schönkar ridge. After the large trough from right to left across stepped terrain on to a shoulder. Across the back, left up to the ridge (take care!) and further up to the summit. Your climb is rewarded with a beautiful valley view and panoramic view to the nearby summits.

The brand-new "SONNEN" 10-seat cable car will launch in December 2023 at Klausberg in the Skiworld Ahrntal. It replaces the old 3-seat "Sonnen" ski lift and offers a modern and comfortable ride for 10 people per cabin to over 2,100 m in just 6:12 minutes.

After comprehensive planning, the project started in November 2022. The new lift is a tried-and-tested model from Doppelmayr, chosen for its performance and safety. With a capacity of 2400 people per hour and a focus on child safety, the lift offers an impressive upgrade.

The work is primarily carried out by local companies to ensure short production and delivery routes and to support the local economy. The project will be completed in the fall of 2023 and the first rides will start in December 2023.

Along with the lift upgrade, existing slopes are made wider and safer to enhance the skiing experience. Therefore, "SONNEN" offers a complete upgrade, both in terms of the lift system and the slopes.

    Summer hiking tour: Neutoblach /Dobbiaco Nuova - Source of the Drau/Drava River - Innichen/San Candido - Haselsberg/Costa Nosellari - Toblach/Dobbiaco
    Toblach/Dobbiaco, Dolomites Region 3 Zinnen

The medium difficulty hiking is especially recommended on sunny days. The hike leads past the "WoodWonderWorld" (children's playground in the middle of the forest) and past the source of the Drava River.

The walk begins in the WoodWonderWorld, a playground in the forest and an adventure world and leads along a gravel path to the source of the Drau, about halfway between Dobbiaco and San Candido. It then goes Haselsberg and then leads back to Dobbiaco. Due to its quiet location, the relatively short walking time and the low degree of difficulty, the walk is particularly recommended for families.

The WaldWunderWelt is a play, adventure and information facility on the subject of the forest.

    Looped trail around Vernagt reservoir
    Schnals/Senales, Meran/Merano and environs

The looped trail around the lake is well worth the effort because a pastoral pathway runs directly along the waterfront and is, of course, particularly beautiful from about mid-July when the reservoir is full. In the winter, water is released from the reservoir to generate electricity and, depending on the water level, the tower of the immersed church may be visible. There are some photos on display in the chapel in Vernagt of the flooded plain and farms.

Trodena Trail of Legends (Sagenweg Truden)
    Truden/Trodena, Bolzano/Bozen and environs

Legends from Trodena/Truden include all sorts of mythical heroes whose stories have been passed down through generations, giving many people in Trodena the shivers. In order to give a brief insight of Trodena’s fabulous beings to interested parties, in 2009 the staff at the Trodena primary school decided to develop the "Trail of Legends". Pupils of the 4th and 5th grade worked on that, they recorded and treated all of the sagas.

The 2 km long circular trail along the Forchwaldegg (trail no. 8) in Trodena proved to be a perfect spot for the Trail of Legends. It is set amidst larch, pine and spruce trees and is very easy to hike.

    Siebeneich - Greifenstein Ruins (Sauschloss)
Eppan an der Weinstaße/Appiano sulla Strada del Vino, The South Tyrolean Wine Road

Greifenstein castle is enthroned high above the village of Settequerce / Siebeneich.  It was first mentioned in 1159.  During the war between the Counts of Tyrol and the Bishop of Trient, in 1275 / 1276, the castle was destroyed.  Only in 1334, the small aristocrats, the Lords of Greifenstein decided to re-built it again.  On a few years later, in 1348, it was burnt down.  In later years (once more re-built in 1363), Greifenstein went into the hands of the Lords of Starkenberg.  In 1420, when a part of the Tyrolean aristocracy went into war against the sovereign Duke Frederick of Austria, the sovereign had the castle besieged and starved out.  Amongst the duke's enemies was also the minnesinger Oswald von Wolkenstein.  He wrote a poetic song about the duke's besieger and made fun of them.  The duke's army could not take Castle Greifenstein, but the fight of the aristocracy and the castle's owner, Wilhelm von Starkenberg, became meaningless and, therefore, the Lord of Starkenberg escaped probably through a crevice at the south-western part of the castle.  His 18 servants gave up their resistance once they were promised free withdrawal.  Today, Castle Greifenstein is merely a ruin.  In common language, it is also called the Sauschloss.  This name derived from a legend, which speaks about the time of the siege.  During this time, the people inside the castle had to face fact that they were left with no food.  There was only one well fattened big in the castle's cellar.  Suddenly, one of the servants had an idea: instead of slaughtering the animal, they threw it with much laughter over the castle walls and down the rock just in front of the besiegers.  When those realized what just had happened, they lost all courage as they believed that the castle's inhabitants still had lots of food available.  Therefore, they withdrew ..... and Greifenstein was saved.
