Bread from far away - exhibition in guest showcase ‘Bread from far away' is the title of the Women's Museum's new exhibition as part of the ARGE ALP project 'The journey of objects - tradition-diversity-change 2', in which it took part together with six other museums from neighbouring Alpine regions. Seven videos show how traditions are constantly adapting to change, especially in the Alpine region. To mark the occasion, the Women's Museum and Urania Merano are showing the exhibition ‘Bread that comes from far away’. The goal is to raise awareness of bread and the stories associated with it from the different cultures of our community through encounters and the exchange of knowledge: Bread that has existed for centuries, for example from the farming tradition in the country, and bread that has come to us over time through migrant women. International Museum Day and Plant Exchange Market On 19 May, not only is admission to the museum free from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but cuttings and seeds can also be exchanged easily and free of charge at the open-air museum. There is no minimum number of plants to bring: everyone swaps and exchanges. We are especially looking forward to local varieties that have been propagated for years in the same home or garden. And anyone who wants to drop by but has nothing to swap is welcome!

INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY HaflingerDok 249 Folie - Haflinger horse breeding in the Vinschgau Valley In 1874, in the stables of Josef Folie and his wife Anna Fritz, 249 Folie was born. Today, all purebred Haflinger horses descend from him. The Venosta Valley has a long tradition of horse breeding. The new documentary exhibition in the Venosta Valley Museum tells the story of Folie and his descendants in the Venosta Valley. The LanAntiqua Festival, organised by the LanAntiqua Association, aims to give "early music", which is an inexhaustible source of inspiration, its deserved place in the cultural life of Lana. This music, which is not limited to any epoch, covers the periods from the Middle Ages to Romanticism. The festival's highest maxim is: original sound, i.e. the performance of the music in an appropriate sound setting on instruments of the period and with the knowledge gained from the historical performance practice handed down in treatises. One of our first summer events is the summer start of the Marinzen Alm. The Schellrodel Musig organizes this festival with delicious food and musical entertainment with "die Stommtischar". From the Jochgrimm/Passo Oclini car park (individual arrival), the hike with hiking guide takes about 50 minutes through flowering alpine meadows and fragrant mountain pine forest up to the rocky, white summit of the Weißhorn/Corno Bianco (2313 m). A hiking adventure to discover South Tyrol's mountains and get to know this unique, enchanting, panoramic world better. Limited number of participants.

After 2017, the famous men's road cycling stage race returns to Val Gardena and for the first time to S. Cristina. Val Gardena, where cycling has always played a major role, has had the honour of hosting the Giro d'Italia nine times: the first time in 1940. On 21st May 2024, the Giro returns to the valley again: after a long stage with the Cima Coppi of the Passo Stelvio, the athletes cross the finish line at Monte Pana under the majestic Sassolungo at S. Cristina in Val Gardena. The stage starts uphill with the Passes Eira and Foscagno followed after Bormio by the Stelvio. Afterwards long descent and long plains to Bolzano along the Val Venosta and the Valle dell’Adige. From Cardano follows a long climb to Castelrotto and Passo Pinei. After crossing Ortisei, the last few kilometres are a gentle ascent up to the final climb to Monte Pana in S. Cristina.
