    The small village of Rina is preparing to celebrate Ferragosto (August 15th). You will be able to enjoy the tasty dishes of the local tradition, accompanied by the music of the music band of Rina, which will offer an engaging concert, with a mix of traditional music and pop and modern adaptations. It will be a true village festival, in a small town in the heart of the Dolomites.

    At the harvest from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on the church field in the centre of the village, the crops are cut with a scythe, bundled into sheaves and the Kornmandlan, or “grain people”, are stood up to dry. The arable crops are harvested. Visitors are invited to take part. The traditional Marende snack, called “Neinern“, is just as important as traditional equipment.

    --Jita sal Hartl-- An insider tip is the hike to the Alpe Hartl on Alpe di Siusi: it impresses with a unique and untouched cultural landscape and a fantastic postcard view of the Sassolungo Group. The start is at the S. Cristina Tourist Office, from where you hike via "Triech" down to "Soplajes". Now the trail goes uphill to the district of "Tlesura" and past old, picturesque farms to the Alpe Hartl. Silence reigns here, so that you can enjoy the Dolomite landscape and the alpine blossom in all peace and tranquility.     In Villanders, processions are an integral part of religious and cultural life. On special church holidays such as Pentecost, Corpus Christi, the Feast of the Sacred Heart, the Assumption of Mary, and Rosary Sunday, the village community walks through the streets in a procession after Holy Mass. They are accompanied by the Villanders brass band and the “Anton von Gasteiger” rifle company, who lend the traditional celebrations a dignified and atmospheric character.

    Gioacchino Rossini: Stabat Mater
    Vahrn/Varna, Brixen/Bressanone and environs
    Gioacchino Rossini's Stabat Mater belongs to the last creative period of the great musician from Pesaro and was written in 1832 after a compositional break lasting more than ten years. Gioacchino Rossini hesitated to compose the Stabat Mater; in his youth he had been deeply impressed by Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and was convinced that no one could have composed a better one. Rossini's Stabat Mater premiered in Paris in 1842. Jacopone da Todi's text is treated like a melodrama and given a musical setting of great power and formal complexity. The work is characterized by its dramatic and operatic structure, with varied forms such as arias, duets, quartets, and choruses.
