Knödel, round dumplings, both savoury and sweet, are among South Tyrol's most popular culinary specialities and take centre stage in this festival taking place at Vipiteno/Sterzing in September. Savoury varieties are usually made from white bread kneaded with other ingredients and include Speck-Knödel, cheese gnocchi, spinach dumplings, while dumplings with apricots in the centre (Marillen-Knödel), strawberry and plum 'Knödel' are among the seductive dessert specialities. Of course the feasting will accompanied by entertainment including traditional Tyrolean music by local bands. Knödel spiecialities can be tasted in selected restaurants the week before and after the festival.

We are deeply attached to our Ladin traditions and we would like to give them as much value as we can. That is why we want to introduce you to our traditional music. And where better than in a mountain hut? The Dolomite peaks will be the setting for a concert by a local music group. During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. The footage may be used and published on websites, on social networks and on media in compliance with the data protection regulations.

King Laurin Alpine Hut Hike: Tradition, music and nature at the foot of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio! The alpine hut hike attracts many people from near and far every year to spend a beautiful, sociable hiking day together in the Dolomite mountains. Also, this year, the associations of Nova Levante transform the mountain meadows at the foot of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio into a small kingdom of delights and entertainment. But the event is crowned by the breathtaking backdrop of the two Dolomite mountains Rosengarten | Catinaccio and Latemar. The culinary delicacies and the matching music certainly guarantee an unforgettable day of hiking with family and friends.

Saturday, 13.09.2025 7:30 p.m.: Start of the feast in the fire station Sunday, 14.09.2025 Umes: Patronal day with holy mass at 11.30 a.m. Afterwards there will be a musical entertainment (Umser Böhmische & OlmanRausch). There will also be an entertainment for the children who can play “Flaschen ziehen”. Like every year there will be the “lucky dip” at the firefighter station Umes.

For centuries, each June shepherds have been driving their sheep from the Schnalstal Valley across the still snow-mantled saddles to graze in the pasturelands belonging to the farmers in Venter Valley in Austria. They return in mid September. About 1,500 sheep leave from the “Rofenberg-Alm“ in the early morning, reaching Hochjoch near the Bella Vista lodge (2845m) at about 11:30 a. m. The sheep arrive in Maso Corto between 3:00 p. m. The Bella Vista hut (2845 m) can be reached in about 1 hour on foot from the top station of the Roter Kofel chairlift (2543 m), follow the signs and trail number 3.

At the celebration the statue of Mary descends from the altar and is solemnly carried in procession through the village, accompanied by the music band of Silandro and the group “Schützen” with saluting guns. Afterwards, the garden festival of the band of Schlanders will take place at the Matscher Au. History: 1799 Silandro was threatened by Napoleon's troops, and in this misery the “Schützen” sought their refuge in the grace picture Mary in the parish church. The "Schützen" praised to celebrate this Sunday for all time as a thank you and to bring the statue of Mary in procession through the city. In fact, the enemy withdrew.

Ready for an unforgettable adventure in the Dolomites? The day begins with an exciting ride on the funicular from Ortisei in Val Gardena, taking us up to an impressive 2,000 meters of altitude. After the ascent, we face a short but demanding climb to the Raschötz Hut. The steep path rewards us with spectacular panoramic views. We continue toward Ausserraschötz, where a brief hike-a-bike section awaits. The natural beauty of the landscape more than compensates for any effort. A challenging trail follows, featuring both short technical climbs and thrilling descents, before we enjoy a well-deserved break at the Brogles Alm. This exceptional enduro tour takes us deep into the awe-inspiring mountain world of the Dolomites, all the way to the mighty Marmolada – the Queen of the Dolomites. A hike-a-bike section awaits on this tour, so the e-MTB stays at home – we pedal using pure muscle power. A shuttle takes us to Selva di Val Gardena, the starting point of our adventure. The first meters of elevation are tackled by cable car. Our first destination is the Sella Pass, from where – depending on the group’s ability – we choose a trail leading down to Canazei. There, another cable car takes us comfortably up to the Belvedere. At the top station, we’re rewarded with a majestic panorama of the Sella Massif and the Marmolada. The descent continues on alpine trails, part technical, part flowy, leading us all the way to Lake Fedaia and back to Canazei. This unique enduro tour promises unforgettable moments in the heart of the spectacular Dolomites. Interested in visiting one of our characteristic farmsteads? The Moarhof farm in the hamlet of Obergoste invites you to take a tour of its barn, stables, petting zoo and dairy farm. Following the tour, you can savour some farm products such as milk, butter, yoghurt, cheese, smoked sausages called „Kaminwurzen“ and bacon.

The earth pyramids of Perca are an architectural masterpiece of nature. These extraordinary formations were shaped by storms that caused landslides and erosion. The hike starts at the second parking lot in Vila di Sopra. A well-signposted trail initially ascends steeply through the forest, offering a varied and scenic environment. Along the way, oversized rock piles, intriguing figures, and diverse rock types create a unique hiking experience. The highlight is reaching the impressive earth pyramids, remarkable in size and shape. The return route follows the road to Plata and leads back to the starting point. Backpack provisions. We start at the Enzianalm in the rear Martell Valley and hike on a moderately steep path along a babbling brook. After a short hike, we reach the Pederstieralm (not open to the public) and from there continue on a gentle ascent to the Pederköpfl. During a short break, we enjoy the wonderful view of the Martell glacier on the opposite side. We then descend to the Lifyalm. After a refreshment stop, we continue downhill to Gasthof Zufritt at the Martell reservoir. Elevation gain: approx. 550 m Walking time: approx. 3-3.5 hours Difficulty: moderate

That’s why our guides take care of all the logistics for this enduro tour and explore the Sellaronda region with you – including some less-traveled paths beyond the well-known routes. The Sella Group is renowned for its picture-perfect alpine scenery. A solid level of fitness, combined with agility and experience, is essential for this tour. While the cable cars handle most of the climbs, don’t be fooled: the nearly 4,000 meters of descent are physically and technically demanding. We walk through the village to the wine-growing lookout point of the Eisacktal valley winery below, where selected wines are tasted in the middle of the vineyards. During the guided hike from Tiers to the Völsegg Peak, a breathtaking view of the Dolomites awaits you. In the family-run Tschafon mountain refuge between the the imposing Schlern Massif and the legendary Rosengarten Massif you will enjoy a special mountaineer breakfast featuring quality products from South Tyrol. In the late morning the hiking guide will take you back to Tiers. If you want to stay a little longer, you can relax on a blanket in the extensive meadow.
