The Lago Gioveretto is an artificial lake in the Ortler Alps in South Tyrol. The reservoir has an area of 70ha, situated at an altitude of 1850m in Val Martello and is crossed by the river Plima. The storage capacity is 19.6million cubic meters. The reservoir is situated in the Stelvio National Park and is used for generation of energy. The associated hydroelectric power station is located in Lasa.
From June to September you are allowed to fish with a state licence. You can buy the ticket at the keeper of the dam.

In order to fish in Italy or South Tyrol, you first need to buy an Italian fishing licence. This costs 40 Euros (identity card or passport is necessary) and is valid for 10 years in the whole of South Tyrol and Italy.
In addition to the licence, you also need a day ticket. For the stretch of water from Quellenhof to St. Leonhard, the cost is 60 Euros per day. The day tickets can be obtained at the Tourist Office of St. Leonhard and St. Martin.
It is not allowed to take „marble trouts”.

The Oberlauf Falschauern stream extends from the center of St. Gertraud inland, traversing the peaceful meadows and forests located below Weissbrunn.
Note: In order to promote and enhance the fish stock, trout fishing in the Rio Gardena stream is not permitted in summer 2024!
Trout fishing on Rio Gardena: day tickets are available at the Val Gardena Tourist Offices. Guests from abroad who possess a foreign angling permit can purchase a local angling permit (validity 10 years) at the Tourist Office S.Cristina.

The Zoggler Tausee lake is highly popular among fishers. It is the largest reservoir in the valley, located between Kuppelwies and St. Walburg. Here, both fly fishermen and bait anglers can try out their techniques. The calm waters, relaxing atmosphere, and beautiful location make it an ideal spot for peaceful fishing in nature.
The Fishing Sports Club Bruneck/Brunico was founded in 1963. The sport-fishing area is one of the most well known fishing areas in the whole valley and a lovely meeting place for sport fishers during the summertime.
It is only possible to fish from the daybreak till the twilight.

We take great pride in our home cooking and one of our specialities is grilled trout (summer months only) which you can fish directly from our lake in front of the restaurant if you want.
Note: The lake can only be reached on foot. It takes approximately 2 hours of hiking to reach Lake Verde.
The Falschauerbach stream 265 is the section of the Falschauerbach stream that connects the two largest lakes of the valley, Zoggler Stausee lake and Stausee St. Pankraz lake. This cool flowing water is an ideal spot for trout fishing.
The Stausee St. Pankraz lake, located about 2.5 km above St. Pankraz at an altitude of 809 meters, is the lowest and second-largest lake in the valley. Its calm waters, along with the flowing inlet stream, provide ideal conditions for anglers to fish for trout and other species.
Guests from abroad require a host license for South Tyrol (available from the Tourist Association Dobbiaco). This is a prerequisite for the purchase of a day ticket: € 30. (valid from 08.30 clock until one hour after sunset) Section: # 226 Waldheim bridge towards the origin. At the lake Kalterer See there are numerous activities and sports to do. Fishing is only one of the activities that are allowed at the lake. There are many types of fish you may catch: luce, perch, carp, tench, eel, bream and some more.
To be allowed to angle at the lake Kalterer See you first have to buy the Italian fishing licence (from the age of 8, the prerequisite is the presentation of a valid identity card or passport). Only by owning such a licence you will be able to purchase a day ticket to go fishing at the lake. Both the licence and the day ticket are available at the Tourist Association of Kaltern (cash payment only).
