Gala, Kanzi, Fuji, Red Delicious – these illustrious names represent four of the total of 18 varieties of apple that flourish in the sunny orchards tended by South Tyrol's farmers. Crisp, juicy and fresh, famed as a vitamin bomb and popular well beyond the borders of the region, there is plenty to learn about the South Tyrolean apple. Did you know, for example, that the apple originally came from Kazakhstan? Or that one in three of all organic apples harvested in Europe comes from South Tyrol? Together with apple grower Christine we set out on a journey of discovery through the local apple orchards. Our charming and knowledgeable guide shares plenty of interesting and curious facts about the apple growing industry in South Tyrol, about organic and integrated cultivation, the different varieties, the ingenious methods of naturally-derived plant protection and the protected designation of geographical origin. During the subsequent tasting of the different apple varieties participants can enjoy talking shop about the apples’ flavours and textures and their personal favourites. There will also be plenty of time to ask questions of our expert.

To start with you will be given an insight into their seasonal work processes and learn first-hand how the grape makes its way into the bottle. Come and delve into a real-life wine experience at the bio farm Rielinger. The wine farmer will give you a tour of the vineyard, explaining the different grapes and their cultivation. We cultivate the white wine varieties Blatterle, Müller Thurgau, Kerner and Riesling as well as the red wines Schiava and Zweigelt. After the vineyard tour you’ll hit the cellar where we show you how the wine is fermented and aged. At the end of the tour of course you may taste our in-house wines. Much is grown on the farm itself and turned into outstanding distillates, liqueurs, syrups and gin. Visit the orchards, discover their diversity and then let yourself be tempted by the end products. In case of rain, the tour of the orchards is cancelled. No alcohol is served under 18, but organic juices are available for tasting. Enjoy a Climate gallery taster visit

A special event for all allergy and hay fever sufferers! As the pollen count in the air rises, many allergy sufferers begin to sense problems with their respiratory tracts. So it's time for a trip to the Climate gallery! The ideal hygienic conditions of the air there can help relieve allergy-related and other breathing problems. On two Saturdays in May, the South Tyrol Mining Museum will be inviting all those suffering from pollen allergies to enjoy a free taster visit to the Climate gallery. The mine railway will bring guests into the gallery where they can stay and relax for 1.5 hours, enjoying clean, pollen-free air.

The exhibition offers a wide range of art works, showcasing various approaches and different materials. Bees are irreplaceable in our ecosystem and agriculture. Simply put: they are necessary for the survival of us humans. As the third most important "farm" animal (after cattle and pigs), bees pollinate 80% of our crops. To find out what has remained of this tradition, what winegrowing in the abbey’s vineyards involves today and the philosophy on which it is based, come on a vineyard tour. We’ll not only tell you all about Neustift winegrowing but also serve you its products. The tour of the vineyards together with the following wine tasting takes about 90 minutes in all. And lasts for longer. Participation in the vineyard tour is only possible with prior registration. Discover Lana - welcome tour. Every Monday, guests are welcomed in front of the information office in Lana, the weekly programme is presented followed by a tour of the historic centre of Lana. You will receive useful information about the holiday region of Lana (countryside and people, hiking, excursions, visits to restaurants, fruit and wine growing, etc.) and learn about interesting monuments from eight centuries. Christoph Gufler, who has published numerous books on "South Tyrolean regional studies", will be happy to answer your questions, starting at the Lana information office, 10.00 am.

The "Tartscher Bühel" is a special place of power in Val Venosta. On a leisurely walk, we follow the traces of the lost town, gain insights into the culture of Val Venosta and learn more about innovative development concepts (this tour is in German or Italian language)

Marc-Alexandre Dumoulin is Villa Arnica's resident artist for 2024. With his painting he is constantly searching for the incomprehensible, and the surface of the canvas is for him a kind of building site where, as he digs deeper and deeper, the image emerges. Dumoulin's paintings, drawings and etchings are thoughts that reveal their complexity through the sensual connection of colours, themes and formats. Dumoulin studied painting at Canada's Concordia University in Montreal and at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London. He holds a doctorate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where he lives and works. The artist will be interviewed by Hannes Egger. (In German)

Guided Bike Tour: Peter Mitterhofer Tour (34 km, 800 m elevation gain) Embark on the impressive Peter Mitterhofer Tour, covering 34 kilometers with an elevation gain of 800 meters. Our journey begins in Algund, where an experienced bike guide leads us through a panoramic landscape to Töll and the K&K Museum of Bad Egart. Continuing along the Apple Road, amidst blooming orchards, we reach Naturno and follow the bike path to Rabland, where the Typewriter Museum awaits. The Museum has over 2000 typewriters, making it one of the world's largest collections. The next leg involves a challenging ascent to the "Dursterhof" hut, rewarding us with a delightful lunch break and a tasty snack. Energized, we pedal back through Tell to our starting point in Algund. The diverse landscape and cultural attractions ensure this bike tour is an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts eager to actively explore the beauty of South Tyrol."
