Have you ever seen the inside of a power station? Did you know how water becomes electricity? In South Tyrol, the Passeiertal Valley and especially the Hinterpasseier Valley is one of the valleys with the most water. For this reason, more than 22 power stations for sustainable energy production have been built in the Hinterpasseier Valley for about a century. One of the oldest is the power station in Rabenstein, which you can visit and explore. The guided tour offers unique insights into the power station and shows how water converted into electricity. The guided tour will be in German and Italian.

Traditional Bread Baking at the Tholer Farm The South Tyrolean kitchen is characterised by well-preserved old traditions. Elisabeth and Ernst of the Tholer farm let you sneak a peek behind the curtains and reveal to you their recipe for the traditional Paarl bread. Together you prepare the rye dough, form the bread and bake it in the old stone stove. You learn interesting facts about the rye cultivation and local baking tradition, and receive a recipe and some bread to take with you.

The long-awaited summer event begins with the parade of the Colfosco-Corvara Music Band, which marches through the pedestrian area of Corvara, attracting your attention with its music and beautiful traditional costumes. This is followed by the concert of the band with folk and modern melodies in front of the majestic Sassongher, Corvara's iconic mountain, illuminated for the occasion by the Mountain Rescue Aiüt Alpin Alta Badia and the lighthouse of the Corvara fire station. Who knows if you won't see a shooting star next to the illuminated Sassongher… In case of bad weather, the concert of the band will take place at 9.15 p.m. in the Corvara events hall and the illumination of the Sassongher will be cancelled. During the event photos or video footage may be taken for the purpose of documentation and promotion of the event and the region. On August 9, 2025, the South Tyrol CUP of the Volunteer Fire Brigade Youth will stop in Tesido, marking the second of three competition stages. Young firefighting teams will compete with skill, speed, and teamwork to secure victory. We start in the beautiful mountain village of Pfelders in Val Passiria/Passeiertal and hike on a somewhat steep path over serpentines to the rustic Schneidalm (approx. 1 ½ hours), always with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. We spend our lunch break here and enjoy the peace and quiet. We then hike along the Lazinser Steig into the valley and descend comfortably to Lazins and back to the starting point via Zeppichl. Every year in August, a particularly large number of shooting stars flit across the night sky. From 11 to 147th of August, the so-called "Perseids" reach their peak this year. This is also the case on Tuesday, 12th August and the Knottnkino cinema in Vöran is the ideal place to keep an eye out for the "lucky charms". Bring a picnic blanket, listen to pleasant sounds and enjoy some tasty snacks ... Members of the South Tyrolean amateur astronomers "Max Valier" will also be there, with telescopes and interesting stories to tell about the night sky. Photographs and videos may be taken at the event for the purpose of documenting and promoting the event and the area. The recordings may be used and published on websites, in social networks and in the media in compliance with data protection regulations.

An exciting adventure awaits you during the guided tour of the church tower! From our expert guide Oswald Tröbinger you will not only learn why the church and the tower were built separately, but also have the opportunity to climb the observation tower: 82 meters high, with more than 300 steps. The tour lasts one hour and is a must for every visitor. The tour is only in German and Italian. However, you can still take part to see the tower from inside.

At 1 p.m. special ride with the historic narrow-gauge railway from the train station Oberbozen to Maria Himmelfahrt and back. Accompanied by the train experts who tell interesting facts about the history of the Ritten Railway, followed by a short guided tour of the Remise in Oberbozen. Price: € 10, € 5 kids (6-14 years). It was 13 August 1907 when the Ritten Railway, which ran from Waltherplatz in the centre of Bolzano directly up to the Ritten, was officially opened. The railway overcame almost 1,000 metres in altitude in the section between Bolzano and Maria Himmelfahrt with the help of a cogwheel drive, before continuing from Himmelfahrt to Oberbozen, Lichtenstern and Klobenstein. The Rittner Bahn was a mountain railway based on the Swiss model; it was the time of the Belle Epoque, when the mountains were to be made accessible to wealthy tourists. Over the decades, however, the construction of this railway also proved to be a stroke of luck for the people of Renon itself. In 1966, the cogwheel railway was abandoned and a modern cable car was built from Bolzano to Soprabolzano. In May 2009, this first cable car was replaced by a modern circulating railway or Ritten cable car. The narrow-gauge railway, which is now the last of its kind in the whole of South Tyrol, now runs between Oberbozen and Klobenstein as the main line and a few times on the Maria Himmelfahrt branch line with historic and more modern railcars.

In a full-day tour you will hike with one of our professional guides through our vineyards from 900 m up to 220 m and taste 12 wines of our TERROIR line in their respective locations. At the typical morning snack, the so-called "Holbmittog", and the 3-course lunch in one of the top restaurants in Kurtatsch you can enjoy culinary specialties.

Making a wish is in again. If you see a shooting star, you can make a wish - but you can't tell anyone what it is. At the climax of the shooting star fall of the Perseids, the amateur astronomers "Max Valier" organise an open night at the "Max Valier" observatory. With your own blanket on the fields around the observatory, it is wonderful to sink into the night sky and count shooting stars. Visitors also have the opportunity to look through the observatory's telescopes and get a close-up view of exciting objects in the night sky. The amateur astronomers inform visitors about constellations, shooting stars and much more. Reservations are not necessary and the visit is free of charge.

During the guided tour on Thursday, 18 August, both the restored monument and the neoclassical parish church Maria Himmelfahrt will be presented. Guided tour by Dr. Hanns-Paul Ties and Prof. Dr. Carla von Braitenberg. Meeting point at 4 p.m. at the church Maria Himmelfahrt, participation is free of charge. The memorial of the Menz family is a unique neoclassical monument from the year 1818, commissioned by Peregrin Ritter von Menz in memory of his family.
