Theatre - Liebe, Lachen, Lebenschaos: Heimatbühne Auer "That's Amore"
    Auer/Ora, Alto Adige Wine Road
Love, laughter, life's chaos: Heimatbühne Auer theater company performs “That's Amore” only in German A comedy about family, intimacy, and life's chaos, directed by Christian Mair A silver wedding anniversary that turns out very differently than planned: With Ursula Kaletta's lively comedy “That's Amore – Liebe auf Italienisch” (That's Amore – Love in Italian), Heimatbühne Auer is staging a play this year that provides hearty laughter and warm moments in equal measure. Christian Mair returns to the director's chair, and after several successful productions, he once again focuses on humor with depth. The focus is on the married couple Sofi and Raffaelo Pepone. For their 25th wedding anniversary, Sofi wants nothing more than a quiet weekend for two – no guests, no hustle and bustle, just time for herself and her husband. But that's not going to happen: the entire family announces their intention to join in the celebrations – loud, warm-hearted and with the best of intentions, but completely contrary to Sofi's ideas. What was planned as a romantic anniversary turns into a weekend full of broken plans, misunderstandings, and family turmoil. “‘That's Amore’ is a humorous family comedy whose plot revolves around a silver wedding anniversary celebration that goes completely off the rails,” explains director Christian Mair. “Sofi and Raffaelo hope for a quiet celebration, but all their relatives, with all their quirks, arrive. The play thrives on complications, comical misunderstandings, and characters that are all too familiar from our own lives.”It is precisely this closeness to everyday life that makes the play so appealing to Mair: “Almost everyone is familiar with such scenarios—relatives you hardly invited, old disputes, unspoken expectations. This makes it easy to relate to and laugh along with.” Despite all the comedy, the tone remains warm-hearted. “You don't laugh at malicious caricatures, but at characters who also have weaknesses and worries. The play shows that despite all the turmoil, you can still feel sympathy for each other.” Mair can explain why family stories are so well suited to the stage: “Families provide the perfect template for comedies. They know each other too well, talk past each other, dig up old stories – it's pure theater material. Even when it gets funny, the core remains human.” And what remains in the end? A message that everyone can understand: life can rarely be planned—and that's precisely where its charm lies. “You can make plans, but life gets in the way. It's important to remain flexible and not lose your sense of humor. Family can be exhausting, but without them, life would only be half as colorful,” says Mair. With “That's Amore,” the Heimatbühne Auer theater company is staging a comedy that will delight audiences with its wit, charm, and realism – an evening that not only provides laughs, but also reminds us with a wink of what really matters in life. The performance will take place in the Aula Magna in Auer. Dates: October 24 (8 p.m.), 25 (8 p.m.), 26 (6 p.m.), 30 (8 p.m.), 31 (8 p.m.) and November 2 (6 p.m.). Tickets can be reserved by calling 334/7060612 (6-9 p.m. or via WhatsApp).

Theatre play in Italian - Operaccia satirica - Onore i padri e paga la psicologa
    Meran/Merano, Meran/Merano and environs
In Italian: A comedian in therapy with his psychologist and two trusty musicians - who act as his live soundtrack both in life and on stage - confesses his dark sides and honours the fictional memory and legacy of his masters. All in front of his audience. A leading comedian par excellence, Paolo Rossi has for forty years ranged from clubs to large stages, from traditional theatre to cabaret, from television to the circus tent: everywhere he proposes his personal way of “making a show” which, while immersing himself in the themes of today, never disregards the teachings of the ancient and modern classics, from Shakespeare to Moliere to Brecht and the much-loved Commedia dell'Arte. In this new version of the satirical Operaccia Rossi improvises his past, to remind himself of his and others' present. With the proceeds he will pay the psychologist, as well as other debts for various and sundry issues in these difficult times. ‘The satirical operettas are extravagant creations that arise from various inspirations: the reading of great literary classics that are transformed into funny compositions, episodes ’stolen" from lived life and from my personal repertoire then reworked and transformed into comic poems that, thanks to the musical accompaniment, turn into a popular song. The language is incorrect, varied, full of mispronunciations, strange words and suggestions, but easily understood by all. They remain fundamentally stories: we strive to tell them as best we can. By and with Paolo Rossi. With Caterina Gabanella and with musicians Emanuele Dell'Aquila, Alex Orciari. Production AGIDI Duration: 120 minutes

Theatre performance at the Theater im Hof - Schwanen
    Bolzano/Bozen, Bolzano/Bozen and environs
"Schwanen" with Eva Sotriffer A puppet theatre (almost) without words, freely inspired by H.C. Andersen’s “The Ugly Duckling.” Too big, too long, too skinny, too wobbly, too grey, too slow, too clumsy! Why am I different from all the others? The little duckling is out of luck. It doesn’t fit in anywhere, always stands out, and yes — it’s ugly, too. Even as an egg, it didn’t look like the others. So the duckling stumbles from one uncomfortable situation to the next. It encounters loneliness, exclusion, rejection, and even some cruelty. But then, something begins to stir inside. Where did that wing come from? Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s famous fairy tale The Ugly Duckling, Schwanen questions the ideas of “beauty” and “ugliness”, and explores why it can be so difficult to truly see ourselves as we are. Eva Sotriffer (IT/Südtirol) For children aged 4 and up Duration: approx. 45 minutes Start: 5:00 PM

The sixteenth edition of the festival “Corpi Eretici 2025/26”, curated by Teatro la Ribalta – Kunst der Vielfalt, opens with the premiere of “Pinocchio nel ventre della balena”, directed by Paolo Grossi, a fairy tale that recalls the adventures and misadventures of Pinocchio and his father Mastro Geppetto. Next comes “Vorrei una voce”, in which Tindaro Granata, through the voice of Mina, brings to the stage the stories and experiences of women imprisoned in Messina. With “Re Lear è morto a Mosca”, directed by César Brie, eight young actors retrace the careers of Solomon Michoels and Venjamin Zuskin, executed by the Stalinist regime because of their art. In “Vizita”, Davide Iodice reflects on intolerance toward the foreigner, inspired by H.G. Wells. Kicking off 2026 is the debut of “Studi Teatrali de La Tempesta”, directed by Antonio Viganò, a new creation born during the artistic residency with Teatro Cristallo. In February: “C’è urgenza d’azzurro”, poems by Vasco Mirandola with music by Sergio Marchesini, and “Quando gli dei erano tanti”, in which Marco Baliani tells the story of Calasso. In March, “Edipo Re”, directed by Stefano Tè and performed by inmates from the Castelfranco Emilia Prison, stages the story of the city of Thebes and Oedipus' desperate attempt to save it. In April, “Un attimo prima”, a poetic experience by Gabriella Salvaterra, will lead small groups of spectators through an intimate, sensory journey inside a labyrinth of memories, immersing them courageously in the theme of symbolic rupture and healing. In May, “La parola femminista” by Vanessa Roghi and the Writing Workshop of Experience with Lea Melandri close the program with a reflection on feminist culture. Rut Bernardi & Eseleptitun: "L'ert per l'ert"
    Bolzano/Bozen, Bolzano/Bozen and environs
Author Rut Bernardi repeatedly pushes the boundaries of understanding because she writes in her native language, Ladin. This led her to develop wordplay and the musical interpretation of the ‘Ladin sound.’ Ladin is a Romance language whose vowels are particularly well suited to wordplay. This sound attracts the audience's attention – but it is much more than just a gimmick: the poems are intended as critical statements and are therefore also made available to the audience in translation (DE, IT). The name of the distinctive ensemble Eseleptitun – which originated in a confused dream – already suggests that musically, an idiosyncratic and multifaceted world of sound is about to be entered. Schreiber vs. Schneider: “Paarcours d‘amour”
    Bolzano/Bozen, Bolzano/Bozen and environs
They are Switzerland's most famous author couple. In their now cult columns ‘Schreiber vs. Schneider’, they analyse everyday life as a couple with humour – with pleasure and sincerity. Because many years of living together are not a 100-metre sprint, but a 3,000-metre obstacle course: with barriers, water ditches, disastrous falls and sudden cramps. The German woman and her Swiss husband tell stories, provoke, joke and improvise – even on stage – with great success! Schreiber vs. Schneider make their way, authentically and spontaneously, through the pitfalls of life as a couple. Their conclusion: those who love should also know how to breathe – and above all have a sense of humour. Because self-irony is the best energy drink for tackling any Paarcours d'amour. Theatre play in italian - Resto qui
    Meran/Merano, Meran/Merano and environs
Trina and Erich. A young woman, a man. Two voices. Two witnesses. Two victims. We are in Curon in the Vinschgau Valley, just a few kilometers from the Austrian border. The beautiful novel Resto qui by Marco Balzano becomes a theatrical play with two characters and many more voices, brought to life by the bodies and mastery of Arianna Scommegna and Mattia Fabris: they are Trina and Erich, witnesses, victims, and, when necessary, even executioners. They are the witnesses of an entire community wiped out in the name of progress and a dam that was almost useless—except to erase the lives of some hundreds of families who had resisted everything, including the First and Second World Wars, changes of nationality, fascism, and forced choices. “Through a dramaturgical weave of narrated parts and dialogues, this yet another ugly chapter of Italian history unfolds. A simple, lean staging: as Melville would have written it, ancient and melancholic. A story of dirty hands and tenacity, anger, violence, and remorse. Sketches. The story of simple women and men who did not accept surrender and now—before the Tribunal of Humanity and for a daughter who is no longer there—relive their long and humiliating defeat,” writes Francesco Niccolini, author and director of the play. The two protagonists, husband and wife, each tell their own version of the story: between Fontamara and Rashomon, there will be partly coinciding, partly different and complementary versions that will compose a pale and painful but dignified picture to present to the audience. Because you can lose the battle, but not be defeated: this is exactly what happens to Trina. By Marco Balzano Theatrical adaptation and direction by Francesco Niccolini With Arianna Scommegna and Mattia Fabris Set design: Antonio Panzuto Costumes: Emanuela Dall’Aglio Lighting: Alessandro Verazzi Original music: Dimitri Grechi Espinoza Production: Teatro Stabile di Bolzano, Piccolo Teatro di Milano – Teatro d’Europa
