Lying on a meadow overlooking the village and the entire valley, close to the forest towards Pian di Maia, is a small, simple wooden building. The building at first glance appears very modest, but stands proud and aware of its incredible significance and history. Between those planks, in fact, the famous Bohemian composer Gustav Mahler, accompanied by his beloved Alma, between the summers of 1908 and 1910, found peace and inspiration to compose some of his most beautiful and important symphonies, among them 'Das Lied von der Erde' (The Song of the Earth). After careful restoration, the composition house at the Trenkerhof finally reopens its doors to all those who want to breathe in the history and atmosphere of the Belle Epoque. During the summer months of July and August, every Wednesday and every Friday from 3 to 5 p.m., in collaboration with the Santer Family, owner of the cultural asset, every visitor will have the chance to step back in time and breathe in the magic of those places and the surrounding nature. They will be welcomed by a very special hostess... Alma, the composer's beloved companion until her death in 1911, herself an eclectic and important figure in the history of world culture, who will make the visit even more special with stories and anecdotes. A guided botanical walk along the Solda panorama path: Starting in the village centre, we walk past the parish church of St. Gertraud to panorama trail no. 7, which we follow into the valley past meadows, pastures, woods and small streams to the valley station of the Solda cable car. From Lago Smeraldo (Fondo - TN)) we hike on an easy path to Malga di Fondo -1480m- and continue through wide meadows and fields towards the Felixerweiher or Tretsee lake. After refreshments at the local inn, we enjoy the dark green water of the lake with its natural beauty and then hike back down to St. Felix through wonderfully fragrant larch forests. Knight Friedrich, the once most terrifying ghost of all castles and palaces, is apparently up to his tricks again in his home castle. However, he is getting on in years and has forgotten how to haunt properly. The task now is to track down the ghost and teach him how to "spook" again. Will the children succeed? Experience an exhilarating performance as we dance with lively steps and graceful movements through the pedestrian area of Ortisei. Let yourself be carried away by our energy and passion for traditional dance, and discover the cultural diversity of our community in a truly special way! The folk dance group “Grupa Balarins de Gherdëina Urtijëi” was founded in 1963 and has been active without interruption since then. The group dances traditional folk dances based on a long tradition thereunder typical dances for thanksgiving, dances having the intent to attract the other gender and also typical “Schuhplattler”. The “Schuhplattler” dances are demonstrated by male dancers only. All dancers are wearing the “Grödner-Tracht” (traditional costume) which is known as one of the most beautiful and most precious of the alpine area. Due to numerous performances in our country as well as abroad and on TV, the group is very well known far beyond South Tyrol.

With biologist and herbalist Carolin we go in search of local herbs and plants. We explore the wonders of nature combining folk medicine tradition and modern scientific knowledge. In addition to tips for identifying and collecting herbs, we will learn about their effects and various processing methods.
