Spectacular Dolomite peaks and legendary mountain passes: The Sellaronda is one of the most beautiful and popular circular routes in the Alps and offers all kinds of exciting options in winter or in summer. One of these is the Sellaronda mountain biking tour. The tour requires a good level of physical fitness and mountain biking experience, because there are some tricky climbs and a few difficult descents to manage. However, for the last few years there has been the option of avoiding some of the particularly steep climbs by using lifts, making it possible to complete the tour in a day.
Following the Sellaronda MTB Tour Anti-Clockwise there is a total height difference of about 1.020 m to be cycled uphill and several descents through single trails or forest roads. Therefore it is more suited to those who enjoy cycling uphill on your MTB or e-bike. The time needed to complete the tour varies according the ability of the biker: from a minimum 6 to a maximum of 9 hours, with a lunch break included.

Sterzing, Italy’s northernmost town, invites you to discover its historic old town with splendid bourgeois houses and Gothic churches.
The medieval atmosphere and hiking trails around Reifenstein Castle make Sterzing a truly unique destination.
The cycling route leads via Brixen and the picturesque Eisack Valley to Klausen.
Klausen, with its charming old town, narrow alleys, and historic buildings, is a paradise for explorers.
The route ends in the medieval artists’ town of Klausen, also known for its wine culture – especially worth visiting in spring, when the region’s culinary specialties are in bloom and the inclines are gentle.
Do not fall in love with the high valley of Schlinig - former stopping place of smugglers on the way to Switzerland.
Start at the visitor center culturamartell in Trattla and take the Val Martello path until Ganda and then towards Stallwies. Turn right above the Premstl inn and follow the road towards Radund. Take the forest road towards "Platzer Mahd". Continue on the forest road and enjoy the nature passing by mighty larches and lush mountain meadows. We warmly recommend you to stop at the Stallwies mountain inn that awaits you with excellent South Tyrolean cuisine. Return on the same route and don’t forget to make a detour to the "Suachbichl" viewpoint.
Flowing, partially rough trail with wonderful views. You will definitely win on this legendary Laces trail.
The famous trail no. 4 in combination with the panoramic and partially exposed trail no. 13 is a true enrichment. Start at the Malga di Laces mountain hut and go through the green forest landscape until the wayside cross where you turn right into trail no. 4. Continue on sometimes flowing and sometimes rough meadow and forest floor trails that wind through the forest until Plumargun and get you into the right trail mood. Don’t follow the steep and heavily washed out trail no. 4, which has been removed from the trail concept, but take the forest road and turn right into trail no. 13 below the distinctive tree. The slightly exposed flowing and narrow S2 trail turns into a heavy passage with some roots and debris towards the end. The view of the valley offers a wonderful panorama at sunset. Please note: “Share the Trail” sections on the hiking paths! The lower part of trail no. 4 from the forest road at Partschogg onwards as well as paths 4a and 4b are for hikers only!

The Upper Belpiano Trail is a special trail, it is perfectly adapted in the landscape and has challenging parts for all single trail-lovers. The trail starts at the mountainstation Belpiano and goes trough forests down to the brach-off in direction to the 3-Country-Trail. The character changes only insignificantly in the lower part. Wonderful cross-country skiing and deep views of Lake Resia make the Schöneben Trail an unforgettable experience - an experience that can be repeated over and over again thanks to the Schönebenbahn.
A very varied cycling trip through the wonderful scenery of the Pustertal valley.
Characteristics: The bike tour takes you sometimes on asphalt tracks and sometimes on well-maintained gravel tracks across meadows and through woods on the left of the main Pustertal valley road to Brunico/Bruneck. You start at 1,175 m in San Candido/Innichen and end up at 800 m in Brunico. The difference in altitude of only 400 m is deceptive; there are some sections that are really tiring. However, most of the route is flat, and from Valdaora/Olang it is almost all downhill. Conveniently, you can put your bike on the train to return. For less experienced cyclists or for families with children, there is the option of travelling back by train from any of the villages on the way.
Starting points: San Candido/Innichen (35 km), Dobbiaco/Toblach (30 km), Villabassa/Niederdorf (27,5 km)
This tour is also suitable for e-bikes.
flyer & train information
Easy bike tour through the lower Pustertal Valley, with some slight ascents.
Located in the lower section of the Herrnsteig trail and dotted with wide and flowing bends, this is the ideal line for riders looking for an alternative to root-covered “classic” trails.
Level: medium
This medium difficulty bike tour delights everyone, as it runs mostly on paved roads with flat passages and one very steep descent. The fantastic view of the neighbouring Dolomite mountains such as Rosengarten/Catinaccio, Schlern/Sciliar and Latemar is always fascinating.
Wonderful tour with demanding ramps to the winner of the alp cheese olympiad. Enjoy the afternoon snack "Marend" and the view.
The tour starts from Nalles and leads past the church to the castle Schwanburg (private property). From here, turn right in the direction of Sirmiano. Above the castle Payersberg (private property), a road will lead you to the Bittnerhof and onwards to the Pitzoner-route back to Nalles. This tour can also be done in the opposite direction: Turn left when you see the castle Schwanburg (private property).
Pleasant route across Montechiaro/Lichtenberg and the Platzhof farm into the 12er Trail.
From Prato/Prad, the gateway to the Stelvio National Park and to Solda/Sulden, you proceed across the Suldenbach streem to Agumes/Agums and from there via a beautiful meadow path with view to the fields, castles and summits of the Upper Venosta Valley in northerly direction to Montechiaro/Lichtenberg. Here starts the ascent on asphalt up to the Lichtenberg Fortress and then on gravel further up to Adelheid Schöpf Lechner from the Platzhof farm (1,354 m). After a nice snack (Brotzeit) with a view towards the direction of Sluderno/Schluderns and on the 3,202 m high Allitzer Spitz peak, you reach the highest point after a few metres further uphill. A flowy descent on narrow and wide trails (S1 and S2), with a few technical tight turns – no risk of boredom. From the Agumsbergerhöfe farms we carry on rolling, soon on tarmac back into the direction of the starting point to the interesting aquaprad National Park visitor center and look forward to a leisurely drink containing electrolytes.
Tip: The unusual name of the tour relates to a field name at the Agumser Berg mountain at the former climb from the Platzhof farm to Gawierg.

Thanks to several chairlifts and cablecars the height difference to ride up by bike is relatively small in the clockwise route of the Sellaronda MTB TOUR. There are several descents on bike trails, which require a medium level of bike practice. The time needed to complete the tour varies according the ability of the biker: generally from 5 to a maximum of 9 hours, lunch break included.
At the Braunhof farm there is a connection from the Hofer Alpl hut loop tour to the entrance of the Schnaggenkreuz loop route at the Tasioler farm. So you can quickly and comfortably switch between the tours.
The tour starts at the sports field in Pfalzen and follows MTB Route No. 441 through beautiful forested areas to the Pitzinger Alm, passing the Kofler am Kofel guesthouse and returning to the sports zone in Pfalzen. From the starting point, the route takes you along a paved road toward Platten, through green valleys and gentle hills. Soon, you reach a wooded area where the fresh mountain air makes the ride especially pleasant.
The trail winds through dense vegetation, offering occasional open views of the surrounding mountains and valley. Some challenging sections include steeper climbs, but the breathtaking views and idyllic nature make every effort worthwhile.
Once you reach the Pitzinger Alm, surrounded by an impressive mountain backdrop, it’s a perfect spot for a well-deserved break. The return route leads back to the Pfalzen sports zone, passing the Kofler am Kofel guesthouse, where you can savor local cuisine. Here, the views of the Kronplatz and the Dolomites are truly spectacular.
The 600 m long Hofer Alpl II variant is a connection from Moar Mühle to Peternaderhof farm, where you can enter in the Schnaggenkreuz loop rout or vice versa.
