    From 31st to 15th September 2024, the local hotels and restaurants delight you with dishes based on the Barbian plum and in the stores you can buy special products such as plum bread, jam, plum strudel and much more. During the plum weeks guided plum excursions also take place in Barbian: On 3th and 10th September 2024 you will learn all kinds of interesting facts about Barbian's delicacy on the plum trail and enjoy great plum dishes at a stop.     A lived tradition and pure pleasure you will experience at the "Buambfest" in the middle of the historic village facades of Kastelruth. The young boys of Kastelruth entertain the village in a musical and funny mood after the holy mass at 11:00 o'clock, in addition they lead the mass in melodic sounds. Afterwards the party takes place in the schoolyard of the middle school of Kastelruth. A great and adventurous event for young and old.

    Traditional autumn festival with parade
    Kuens/Caines, Meran/Merano and environs
    The autumn festival in Riffian/Rifiano has a long tradition. The festival begins at 10:30 a.m. with a hearty morning pint "Frühschoppen". The highlight of the festival is certainly the folkloric procession starting at the ex-Kuenserhof in Kuens/Caines and ending at the festival square in Riffian/Rifiano. Local associations put their festively decorated floats on display. At the fairground, music groups provide musical entertainment and the sports club of Riffian-Vernuer takes care of the physical well-being. A children's area with a bouncy castle, painting and make-up corner awaits the younger guests. In case of rain, the parade will be cancelled.

    Many legends and tales are entwined around the world underground: there are reports of treacherous Antrians, wise and good-natured Saligen and bulls gone berserk. The underground world invites you to dream and listen to fairy tales and stories. We tell these legends to all adventurous children and their parents on Sunday, August 27th, at the Prettau and Ridnaun locations and dive into the mystical world of the South Tyrolean mines and surrounding valleys with them. In the handicraft corner, the sagas are given a new look and the creative works for the stories are published in our children's gallery. Be part of the fourth day of legends at the State Museum of Mining and let yourself be enchanted by the legendary mining world.

    We start with the public bus to Vierschach/Versciaco and go with the cable car to the Helm/Monte Elmo (2.050 m). Here the hike begins via the Hüttensteig path nr. 20 to the Rif. Sillianer Hütte hut. After a refreshment (hut or self-catering), the way back is via the old Helmhaus at 2.434 m. With a 360° view between the Italian-Austrian border, we learn a lot about the exciting history of this area. Descent via hiking trail nr. 4a and the Rif.     The inner dimension of mountaineering Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, an Austrian mountaineer, is one of the most famous female climbers in the world. She has climbed all fourteen of the world's highest peaks above 8000 meters. She was the first woman to reach the summit of K2, the second highest mountain in the world, without using supplemental oxygen or the help of high-altitude porters. During this event, Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner shares her most intimate reflections on mountaineering, drawn directly from her mountain adventures. She talks about her physical and mental preparation, her passion, and how to overcome challenges. For Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, meditation, intuition, nutrition, and the connection with the mountains and nature are crucial elements. You can expect a conference with personal stories and captivating images of the mountains. (The conference will be held in German). Powered by Karpos.
