    Hiking Bus Trip to Ortisei/St. Ulrich (Val Gardena)

    We organise a trip (one-way) to the neighbouring Val Gardena to Ortisei/St. Ulrich every Wednesday until the beginning of October. In Ortisei everyone is free to decide how to spend the day. Our suggestion is a hike back to Villnöss valley. Hiking suggestions TOUR 1: Ascent with the Seceda cable car until the middle station. From there walk on trail no. 5 leading to hut Brogles Alm (ca. 400 m height difference). Continue on the Adolf Munkel Trail until reaching the meadows of Gschnagenhardt (no. 35 & 34) and via the hut Dusleralm to Zans (no. 36). Alternatively, you can also descend from the hut Brogles Alm via trail no. 28 to Ranui. Attention: Panascharte is closed! TOUR 2: Ascent with the funicular Resciesa. From there via trail no. 35 to the hut Brogles Alm. Continue via the Adolf Munkel Trail to Zans (no. 35 & 6). lternatively, you can also descend from the hut Brogles Alm via trail no. 28 to Ranui. Start: The bus starts at 9.00 am in St. Magdalena/Ranui. You can get on at any other bus stop along the route according to reservation.     A hundred years of history, skilfully interwoven with the thousand-year-old frescoes of St Prokulus, told in an exciting and entertaining way. Selma Mahlknecht, who has already won the Sir Walter Scott Prize for the best German-language historical novel for ‘Helena’, has now published her second major historical novel. In it, she traces the upheavals, developments and transformations of the past hundred years in South Tyrol. The novel begins with the aftermath of the First World War and progresses through fascism, National Socialism and the Cold War to the present day, when the world is once again divided. ‘Selma Mahlknecht portrays an arduous ascent, flanked by ruptures and abysses - sensitively and ironically, bitterly and brilliantly told.’ Hans Heiss, historian.

    DOLOMITEN VERTIKAL Meeting with the Authors Fifteen years ago, Swiss photographer Ulrich Ackermann replaced the classic panoramic view in his work by using a panoramic camera in vertical format: thus, aerial shots were born that radically broke with previous visual habits. This type of photography seems tailor-made for the Dolomites. Few other mountain ranges possess such intrinsic verticality as this one, with its immediate proximity of steep gullies and spires soaring towards the sky, rock towers, and pinnacles. In the book "Dolomiti Verticali" his images are introduced by a geographical presentation by South Tyrolean author Ingrid Runggaldier. At the Visitor Center of the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park, on May 22, 2025, the two authors will meet again to reflect together on the fascinating challenge of aerial photography over the Dolomites and share their most interesting insights with the public.     LanaLive - Jaanika Peerna: Glacier Elegy

    With her performance Glacier Elegy, Jaanika Peerna (Tallinn/New York) confronts the climate crisis, specifically the melting of glaciers. The artist uses ice as a totemic representation of strength, beauty, and ecological fragility. As an artist in residence, Peerna is hosted at Villa Arnica, where she explores the garden and its essential foundation: the public good of water. Her work includes drawing, performance, and installation, all stemming from the rhythms and movements of the body. Peerna lives between Tallinn and New York, and her works have been exhibited in internationally renowned galleries and museums, including the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington, D.C.), the Zuccaire Gallery (Stony Brook University, NY), Real Art Ways (Hartford, CT), and the Espronceda Center for Art and Culture (Barcelona, Spain). On this hike around Klobenstein, we will discover old field names such as Fenn, Gaiderin, and Kematen, which reveal much about the rich linguistic history of Ritten.
