Primary and secondary school children from Val Gardena participated in the Giro d'Italia drawing competition. A jury selected the 30 most beautiful, creative and original drawings. The 30 winning pictures will be exhibited on the town hall square of S. Cristina.

What varieties of mushrooms inhabit the forests of Alta Badia across different seasons? How do mushrooms contribute to the balance and biodiversity of forest ecosystems? What cultural and historical role do mushrooms play? How can the properties of mushrooms illuminate new paths in pharmacological science? What responsible and sustainable methods can be adopted in mushroom foraging? At least once, we've all 'gone' mushroom picking. But there's a difference between going and truly seeing. In the company of Andrea, an enthusiastic mycologist, it's possible to view the forest from the mushroom's perspective. This shift in viewpoint is exhilarating, fascinating, and unique: suddenly, the mushroom is not just a fruit of the earth but a connector that binds every form of life within the forest ecosystem. We are in the forests of La Val, areas that transform with the seasons, home to a variety of mushrooms that includes more than just the familiar porcini and chanterelles. With Andrea, the journey becomes a sensory and cognitive adventure where each encountered mushroom serves as a pretext for stories of ecology, biology, and chemistry. Thus, learning transforms into an art: the art of identifying, collecting, and respecting mushrooms and of discovering the wonders of the fungal kingdom, thanks to their extraordinary medicinal properties that often have anticipated new frontiers in pharmaceutical research. This experience is part of ATIRA: a series of weekly meetings and excursions designed to raise awareness about crucial issues for maintaining sustainable territorial development. With ATIRA, you become a guardian of the Dolomites: you will not only learn fascinating facts about the mountains but also how to actively contribute to the protection of our territory. It's an opportunity to connect with the Dolomite nature, which is everyone's heritage and thus requires everyone's respect. The tour starts at the Ratschings valley station in front of the Rent and Go bike rental. We follow the Pfeifer Huisele path along country lanes and forest roads towards the Klammalm. From here onwards, the technical riders are in their element. The trail towards Wumblsalm has it all. This is followed by a short descent across meadows before a partly challenging section leads to the highest point of the tour, the Wasserfalleralm. Here we enjoy a long break with good food. Strengthened, we follow a fantastic panoramic trail to the Rinneralm. The last few kilometers are downhill on the toboggan run back to the starting point.

From the first car park next to the Vernagt reservoir, we follow the "Tisenhof" signpost slightly uphill through the meadow slopes to the Tisenhof and from there briefly on to the Rafeinhof. From there, follow the path, which is narrow and slightly exposed in places, but good and equipped with a rope railing, to the Finail farmstead (snack station). From there, continue to the "Gerstgrasshöfe" and then slightly downhill to the Schnalser Talstraße, here via a wooden staircase up to the aforementioned suspension bridge and, crossing the slope for the most part, out to the dam and back to the car park. Altitude metres: 350 m Total walking time: approx. 3 hours. Moderately difficult hike (one section slightly exposed, but with a rope railing).

Mountain hike Across the Latemar Alpine Ridgeway with hiking guide Ferdinand Pardeller The hike begins with a bus journey from Welschnofen | Nova Levante to Obereggen. From there, we hike through the Latemar forest and after about an hour we change to the Latemar ridgeway. Below the "Erzlahn" at the foot of the imposing Latemar, we take a short break to enjoy the panorama. We continue along the high route with marvellous views of the Brenta Dolomites and as far as the Ortler region. After the 360° viewing platform, we descend to the Oberholz hut, where we can take a lunch break. We then descend for about an hour to the bus stop in Obereggen, from where we return together to Welschnofen | Nova Levante. If desired, it is also possible to take the Oberholz lift down to the valley station. Our hiking - guide Martin have chosen some of the most beautiful hiking - routes and will accompany you into a world of fascination and unforgettable impressions. Reservation until midday of the previous day in the tourist office of Marlengo. Detailed programme on request.

Together with the hiking guide, you will hike from Altprags/Braies Vecchia up to the rustic Putzalm hut, where a small alpine snack awaits you. The hut landlord Seppl is known for his typical, delicious dishes! After a refreshment stop, you hike up to the Allwartstein summit (1,954 m), where you have a breathtaking view. The descent takes you back to the starting point at Altprags/Braies Vecchia on a variant of the ascent route. The pure walking time of the circular hike is 4 hours with 600 metres of ascent.

The guided e-bike tour starts at the Rent and Go bike rental at the Ratschings valley station. We start with a group game and playfully learn the most important riding safety tips. Afterwards we drive together along the Pfeifer Huisele path to Flading to the barefoot path with Kneipp facility. There we have a little refreshment at the witches' fountain. Fun balancing exercises await us before we head back to the starting point. The tour is fun for adults and children from 8 years (with a minimum height of 140cm). The e-bike tour is accompanied by a trained South Tyrolean bike guide.

Drive to Vernuer/Vernurio to the parking space at Oberöberst. Ascent on trail no. 21A via the Hahnenkamm to the Pfitschkopf, continue on a trail called "Lustiger Kameradensteig" and the Obisellalm to the summit. Beautiful panoramic view of Meran/Merano and the Etschtal Valley. Descent via the Obisellalm and trail no. 5 to the parking space. At the Gampen Pass, we visit the Gampen bunker, a military bunker built during the Second World War. We then hike on a gravel road, then along a footpath and uphill in serpentines until we cross a wide valley at the foot of the small Laugenspitze. Continuing on and climbing gently, we reach the small, idyllic Gfrillneralm where we stop for a bite to eat. Marvellous views as far as the Dolomites await us there. Afterwards we hike along a pleasant track down to the Gampenstraße from where we take the bus back to Lana. Walking time: 4 hours Altitude difference: 400 m Difficulty: medium

The ascent begins with a somewhat steep climb through the cool forest. We then enjoy a relaxed hike through the quiet side valley, which offers an idyllic atmosphere with its alpine flair, horses and cows. During the hike, participants experience nature up close and with all their senses. The babbling of a small stream invites you to feel the real summer freshness and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings. It is a wonderful opportunity to escape from everyday life, admire the beauty of nature and can help us to calm down and feel ourselves again. After the hike, a cozy stop at Manfred's rustic alpine hut awaits us. It is the perfect end to an eventful day in the mountains that is good for body, mind and soul alike.

We start in Maiern in front of the Rent and Go bike rental in the direction of Bergl, go past the birthplace of the Ridnaun giantess and on to the Martalm. From there we cycle along the forest road to the Gewingesalm. After a little refreshment continue to cycle to Entholz and along the Erzweg back to the starting point.

Alta Badia will host the start of the Lavaredo 80K, Saturday 29 June 2024 at 7 a.m.. The village of La Val will welcome the thousand participants of the "La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail by UTMB®", who will cover the 80 km with 4600 metres of positive altitude difference to arrive in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The Fanes-Senes-Braies and Puez-Odle Nature Parks, declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009, frame the area and are a paradise for those who want to experience unspoilt nature in all seasons of the year. The village of La Val, this year's starting point for the Lavaredo 80K, is renowned for its authenticity and tranquil atmosphere, ideal for those who want direct contact with the Dolomites. Here you can admire the traditional Ladin architecture, with the characteristic 'Viles', in which the ancient inhabitants used to live. Bib pick-up for guests staying overnight in Alta Badia: Friday 28 June from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the event hall in La Val, in San Senese 14 street.
