Barthlmastag is an important Rittner vacation with a long tradition. It is celebrated annually on August 24 and takes its name from the patron saint of shepherds and farmers, St. Bartholomew. In the past, on this day, the farmers met on the Rittner Alm for the cattle drive and the subsequent market. The cattle of the farmers, who spent the summer on the alp, are herded together at the Saltner hut and driven in at noon with “Goasslschnoellen”, Saltner calls, neighing and yelling. The meeting point is a fenced-in area, the “Stricker Pfarrer”, where in earlier years the Barthlmas market took place, where the farmers met to do various business. Today the market takes place in Pemmern, where agricultural products from the region are offered. Since 1927, the spectacle has been accompanied by the Wangen music band, which has also provided food and drink since the 1960s. After this highlight on the Rittner Alm, the afternoon continues downhill to Pemmern, where the Almfest becomes a meadow festival with music and children’s programs. It's hard to imagine the MTB calendar without the cult event, and in 2024 the racers will be serving up an even more festive menu: At the Trail Hunt in Val Gardena on 31th of August, enduro fans will battle it out on a completely new course with four tricky challenges. For the 2-person and 3-person teams (incl. separateE-MTB classification), one fantastic trail follows the next on the Sellaronda and in the enduro mecca of Canazei. We definitely can't get enough of what Mother Nature serves us in the middle of the Dolomites. But we can eat our tasty dumplings that are on the menu at the end of the day at the dumpling festival - with live music, lots of cool prizes and, of course, the Golden Giant Dumpling, which is won by the team with the best average time. BUT first you have to find all the checkpoints with smart tactics, good orientation and maximum fun and pass the four dumpling challenges. With a view of the Sellagroup, the Sassolungo massif and the majestic Marmolada, the bike buddies go uphill in teams of 2 or 3 by cable car - and then downhill on the finest trails, from flowing to challenging, from freshly built routes to technical natural trails, there is something for everyone's taste. For the sixth edition, the hunters start on Ciampinoi on a completely new route that has even more trail delicacies in store. The autumn festival in Riffian/Rifiano has a long tradition. The festival begins at 10:30 a.m. with a hearty morning pint "Frühschoppen". The highlight of the festival is certainly the folkloric procession starting at the ex-Kuenserhof in Kuens/Caines and ending at the festival square in Riffian/Rifiano. Local associations put their festively decorated floats on display. At the fairground, music groups provide musical entertainment and the sports club of Riffian-Vernuer takes care of the physical well-being. A children's area with a bouncy castle, painting and make-up corner awaits the younger guests. In case of rain, the parade will be cancelled.

Pawigl Bread Time. Experience the old tradition of baking bread on the farm. Where could this happen more authentically than in the Lananer mountain fraction Pawigl, on the southern slope of the Vigiljoch, where the mountain farmers still bake bread on their farms today, from 11.00 am. For two days, Kaltern will be all about its local wines. Starting from 6 pm, on Thursday, September 5th and Friday 6th 2024, at the main square, in the heart of Kaltern, the local wine producers will offer their wines for degustation. Visitors and wine lovers will have the chance to taste different wines, get informed by wine producers, cellar masters and wine experts and finally enjoy a nice conversation amongst wine enthusiasts.
