Maybe it’s the special atmosphere or the wonderful memories that let us love the Christmastime, but also the Christmas bells spread the magic – it’s simply the happiest time of the year. Sterzing in the north of Southtyrol is surrounded by the beautiful sound of ringing bells in all its forms and sounds. The hollow and smooth sound of the church bells, or even the friendly bells of local cows and farm animals – every bell has his own importance. Christmas in Sterzing is all about joyful bells with their warming sounds.

On Friday, 28th November, the vigilius mountain resort will become a gathering place for wine enthusiasts. The Vigiljoch Wine Festival celebrates regional wine culture and personal encounters – set amidst unique architecture at 1,500 metres above sea level.

Winemakers from the foothills of the Vigiljoch will present their wines in person that evening. Through direct conversation with the producers, you’ll gain insight into the origin, cultivation, and philosophy behind each individual drop.

The wine tasting will be accompanied by a flying dinner from Chef Daniel Sanin’s kitchen, creatively reinterpreting regional ingredients in a modern way.

Our Christmas market, the Alpine Advent Sarntal Valley, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. This year in Val Sarentino, the visitors of our Christmas street market will be enchanted by a myriad of Christmas trees. 20 wooden stands will display the traditional, handcrafted and unique products made in Val Sarentino, while the food and wine stands will offer local goodies such as sweet and airy Krapfen, Striezl (Sarentino-style fried bread) and rye bread. The Christmassy feeling will be heightened by music bands and carol singers and in addition there will be a hands-on workshop and animation shows for the children.

The Margreid Lantern Advent invites you to enjoy the pre-Christmas season in an atmospheric setting. Mulled wine stands, an idyllic Christmas forest and lovingly designed lanterns decorating the streets and houses give Margreid a special Christmas glow. A highlight is the Krampus run on 5 December, accompanied by St. Nicholas, who gives gifts to the children. Musical performances, Advent stories and culinary delights create a festive atmosphere for young and old alike. On 23 December, the traditional charity mulled wine stand invites you to enjoy music and community spirit – and the most beautiful lantern decoration of the year is also awarded a prize. Immerse yourself in the magic of Margreid and experience the enchantment of Advent in the brightly lit village on the South Tyrolean Wine Road!
