From July 2 to 22, 2025, the Merano Drama Festival presents the world premiere of “The Great Awakening” – a historical open-air play about Michael Gaismair, the Anabaptist movement, and the Tyrolean Peasants’ Wars, directed by Pepi Pittl. Performances take place at the unique festival area above Trauttmansdorff Castle, next to St. Valentine’s Church. The play combines history and the present with powerful imagery and a profound message. The Merano Festival is under the patronage of the European Region of Tyrol, the patronage of the province of South Tyrol and the patronage of the municipality of Merano and the district community of Burggrafenamt. ‘The Great Departure’ is the eighth world premiere in a row to be staged at the Merano Festival as part of the initiative for premieres and first performances.

This apple tour will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about our local fruit. You can explore the plantages in the company of our apple expert Franz and follow the storage, sorting, packaging and shipping of the South Tyrolean apple. Our apple expert will let you in on all kinds of secrets about our apples' goodness, the varieties and how best to store them at home. In July and August, Dorf Tirol's shops open their doors every Monday evening from 8 until 10 pm for night-time shopping overlooking the roofs and lights of Meran. Your night-time shopping trip will be accompanied by a colourful surrounding programme of events for young and old, musical entertainment and all kinds of delicious treats from local kitchens and wine cellars.

Immerse yourself in the wonderful world of the honey bee. Together with beekeeper Michael you will open a beehive at one of his traveling stands, watch the watch the busy little bees at work and learn learn all kinds of interesting facts about them. The crowning glory is a tasting of various honey of various honey products. Photographs and videos may be taken at the event for the purpose of documenting and promoting the event and the area. Michael Höllrigl’s expressive stone and bronze sculptures will adorn the gardens of the Kränzelhof in 2025, true to his motto “The hand knows more than the head.” “Letting you dream on and on” is the goal of the sculpture exhibition. Fancy a varied hike where you can experience the secrets of nature? Then join us on our guided tour through the picturesque Seebertal valley - a real jewel in the Texelgruppe Nature Park. The guided hike starts at the Oberglaneggalm hut car park and takes you through an impressive high mountain landscape to the Seebersee lake. Surrounded by mighty rocky giants such as the Hochfirst (3,403 m) and the Granatkogel (3,302 m), the view is a sight to marvel at. Reed grass is reflected in the green-blue water, fish frolic beneath the surface - and with a bit of luck, you might even spot marmots. Their characteristic whistling can almost always be heard. Perhaps one of the rare alpine butterflies will cross your path - keep your eyes peeled! The way back is via the Seeberalm hut back to the starting point. You will be accompanied by a trained nature park guide, who will provide fascinating insights along the way: which plants grow here? How does the landscape change throughout the year? Which animals are native, and how do humans and nature share this space? The tour is part of a series of nine guided hikes through the Texelgruppe Nature Park - each with a different destination, each path offering new perspectives. From the Gampen Pass, we hike along a beautiful forest path to the ‘Schöneck’ viewpoint on the Mendelkamm. We reach the Felixeralm via Moschen, where we stop for refreshments. We then reach the beautifully situated Felixer Weiher, also known as Tretsee, in just a few minutes. We descend comfortably through larch forests to the car park. Every Tuesday, music enlivens the city center, accompanied by events and much more. It's a popular occasion for locals from Merano, who flock into town along with visitors from the surrounding area to enjoy the summer atmosphere. For guests of the city, it's the perfect opportunity to get to know Merano and its residents. On the upper via Corso della Libertá, a market featuring handcrafted products (6:30 p.m – 11:00 p.m) accompanies the events. In addition, a craft market along the Passeggiata Lungo Passirio invites visitors to discover from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Kids Corner: On the Passeggiata Lungo Passirio, a space directly in front of the Kurhaus is dedicated to children. Magic shows and clowns, baby dance, creative workshops full of imagination, and a face painting corner offer plenty of fun activities. Participation is free of charge. With their extensive knowledge of herbs, they explain how to safely identify spring and summer herbs and how to harness the power of plants in cooking, health, and skincare. The Kneipp and health trainer Annemarie Santer Nock invites you to the Vettererhof and reveals the five principles of Sebastian Kneipp. You will learn how you can contribute to a better attitude to life and to maintaining your health with refreshing water treatments. Tingling waterfalls and invigorating arm baths make the Kneipp tour a special experience for body and soul. This alpine wellness programme also introduces you to valuable and edible medicinal herbs. The tour starts with a short introduction about llamas and getting to know the absolutely child-friendly and curious animals. We don't ride the lamas, but load them up with provisions and equipment and then we're off! We walk with the fuzzy animals for about 2 hours, past meadows and forest clearings.
