There are many legends and stories surrounding cheese and its origins. Is it true that some varieties were discovered purely by accident, or even thanks to the forgetfulness of a master dairyman? Someone who really knows all about this – and gladly shares his extensive knowledge – is Andreas Österreicher. Every Tuesday, the certified cheese sommelier invites guests to a tasting at his home. He offers fascinating insights into South Tyrol’s cheese world, shows how to identify and accurately describe flavour notes, and explains why it pays to invest in origin and quality when buying cheese. And he also reveals how to create perfect pairings. With wine, chocolate, fruit or beer – harmony is key. It certainly helps that Andreas, being a musician, is well-versed in harmonies…

This extraordinary tour offers not only an unforgettable nature experience but also numerous health benefits. The cool night air and gentle movement strengthen the immune system, while the pure mountain air, whose high quality has been confirmed by studies from the Technical University of Munich, is particularly beneficial for the respiratory tract. The approximately two-hour night hike leads from the center of Partschins through orchards and deciduous forests to the impressive Partschins waterfall. The path covers about 430 meters in altitude.

Following the course of the Ziel stream, this attractive via ferrata climbs up to the Gingglegg ridge. A special highlight: two flying fox zip lines, which can be used to cross the stream as an alternative to the suspension bridge.

Discover the numerous, often inconspicuous herbs by the wayside with our expert and learn all about their healing power and effects on our herb & water walk. At the same time familiarise yourself with the different forms and possibilities (there are over 120!) for partaking of the famous Kneipp cure.

Father Sebastian Kneipp’s water therapy gets the metabolism and circulation moving and demonstrably strengthens the body’s defences. In addition, it also helps with numerous chronic illnesses and nervous complaints such as headaches, migraines, sleep disorders, allergies, stubborn infections, stomach and bowel problems, and inner turmoil.

The place and setting where the findings of Father Kneipp are put into practice is as special and impressive as the treatments themselves and the effect of the herbs and plants.

Gala, Kanzi, Fuji, Red Delicious – these illustrious names represent four of the total of 18 varieties of apple that flourish in the sunny orchards tended by South Tyrol's farmers. Crisp, juicy and fresh, famed as a vitamin bomb and popular well beyond the borders of the region, there is plenty to learn about the South Tyrolean apple. Did you know, for example, that the apple originally came from Kazakhstan? Or that one in three of all organic apples harvested in Europe comes from South Tyrol?

Together with apple grower Christine we set out on a journey of discovery through the local apple orchards. Our charming and knowledgeable guide shares plenty of interesting and curious facts about the apple growing industry in South Tyrol, about organic and integrated cultivation, the different varieties, the ingenious methods of naturally-derived plant protection and the protected designation of geographical origin.

During the subsequent tasting of the different apple varieties participants can enjoy talking shop about the apples’ flavours and textures and their personal favourites. There will also be plenty of time to ask questions of our expert.

Flower Festival at Naturno. After a cold winter, we are all the more looking forward to spring: Nature is at full throttle, it begins to bloom, fragrance and sprout. The warming sun attracts colourful flowers and bright buds. In Naturns we welcome spring with a colourful festival. From the farmers to the gardeners, everyone is on their feet organising the spring festival - the whole village and all guests are invited to celebrate! Gardeners present spring flowers and decorations and everything is framed by cheerful traditional music. Be there! The Merano Flower Festival is an event dedicated to flowers, herbs and ornamental plants, which is also held in the towns of Algund, Merano and Scena will take place.

Thanks to the sunny location, the mountain season starts earlier in Naturns than elsewhere. We open the new season on the Merano High Mountain Trail together with the mountain farmers of the Naturnser Sonnenberg mountain. The mountain farmers provide rare insights into their lives, traditions and everyday life. Another highlight is the culinary offer. The Sonnenberg mountain inns and farm taverns will spoil you with tasty dishes from the region.

Niedereben Farm is situated at an altitude of 634 metres on Nörderberg mountain. Benefiting from the advantageous climate, olives, grapes and cacti all flourish here. The Hofer family supplies the local organic specialist retailer (Biokistl) with its fruit and vegetables and sells a variety of home produced, typical South Tyrolean organic products in their own farm shop.

Cows, pigs, quails, ducks, geese and chickens all feel like “pigs in clover” on the farm! This introduction to the long history of the farm gives visitors an insight into livestock husbandry and wine growing on the Vinschgau’s Nörderberg mountain and shows the route taken from the first olives to the production of the farm’s own olive oil.

The following products are available to buy directly from the farm shop: speck (bacon), salami, smoked sausages, cooked herb-crusted ham, Coppa ham, farmer’s speck, seasonal fruit and vegetables, and in the autumn months chestnuts and pumpkins, apple juice and Vernatsch wine.

Around the beehive, many garden and wild herbs grow, such as sage, thyme, rosemary, wormwood, plantain, ground elder, yarrow, and nettle. Herbal drinks are made from these plants, with herbal expert Brigitta Patzleiner explaining the beneficial properties of each herb. Afterwards, the drinks can be sampled.

In addition, three take-home products are made together: a calendula salve or lip balm, an herbal salt, and an herbal liqueur.

Herbs are so valuable because all their components, such as minerals, vitamins, and nutrients, correspond to the elements of the human body. This allows them to be easily absorbed and transported within the body to where they are needed. For example, a green rosemary drink stimulates circulation, provides energy, activates the brain, and improves concentration and memory. The ancient Greeks already knew this: students would wear a rosemary wreath during exams. Today, this effect has also been scientifically proven.

Band leader Christian Laimer offers a varied and demanding program together with his musicians. During the farm tour at Lenkhof, you will learn all sorts of interesting facts about the individual production steps involved in making cheese and other dairy products as well as the history of the farm itself. Young farmer Georg will guide you through the barn, the processing and maturing rooms and tell you about how his animals are kept. At the end, you can of course taste the farm's own products. During a guided tour of the Wezl private distillery, Jochen explains the creation of grappa and the important role played by the grape. Both the grappa and the accompanying wine will be tasted. Because wine and grappa harmonize excellently with chocolate, this sweet seduction is served for tasting.

Along the banks of the Styx, countless souls have arrived, suddenly swept away by a lightning-fast, murderous, cowardly plague of boils and pox. The underworld is suddenly clogged, and Minos, the merciless judge of souls, must perform superhuman feats to assess everyone's sins. Everything grinds to a halt when Beelzebub, with great wisdom, steps in: he offers three jesters Zuan Polo, Domenico Tagliacalze, and Pietro Gonnella a reduced sentence, allowing them to return to what they did best in life: entertaining. The show draws from the ancient art of the jester the quintessential entertainer, the most devoted worshipper of satire and mockery. Since time immemorial, comedians have been both terrified of and drawn to Hell. It’s inevitable: the underworld is the final destination for those willing to do anything for a laugh. Hell and its sulfurous jailers form the foundation of folk traditions and the tales of wandering storytellers. It holds within it both the high and the low, the tragic and the grotesque. "We tried to explore, between the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance, some examples of infernal tales earthy, foul-smelling tracts," writes Stivalaccio Teatro, a company known for its unmistakable and irresistible reinterpretation of the Commedia dell’arte. "These episodes are told by three performers or rather, jesters, comedians, outcasts people willing to do anything to bring laughter. They make use of the jester's craft, that 15th-century mastery which later gave rise to the great tradition of Commedia actors. Strange characters, short tales, grotesque disguises, bizarre songs, demonic masks, and improvisations." If not, then this hike to the Niedersteinhof mountain farm is just the thing for you! After a hike, Walter will open the gates of his organic farm and take you on a passionate tour of his farming activities. He describes his philosophy, the self-sufficient concept of the farm and the skilful combination of his mainstays of farm holidays, green energy and South Tyrolean mountain meadow hay. The organic mountain meadow hay in particular, from harvesting to versatile use, has led to creative "haylights" such as cushions, hay beds, wallpaper, lampshades, flooring, liqueur and gin. After the impressive tour of the farm, you can then make your own hay cushion and taste the farm's own products.

By the way: for his particularly sustainable small-scale energy concept, Walter Moosmair of the Niedersteinhof farm was named Energy Farmer of the Year 2025 in Berlin.

The funeral service for Gernot Steinfels, head of the company "Feinwäsche Steinfels", who died at the age of 94, gets completely out of hand. His successor-to-be, Horst Bohne, planned everything meticulously. The text on the ribbon for the funeral wreath "In deep mourning. Your employees" doesn't work at all, according to marketing manager Alina Bergreiter and social media expert Kevin Packert in unison. Because where are the employees? One of them is the long-time secretary Rieke Schneider, who absolutely wants to sing at the funeral service. Intern Kim Olkowski has problems with the funeral saying "Only work was your life" because it "somehow stands for a totally toxic work-life balance". And whether Horst Bohne should become managing director at all must also be put to the test. It is no wonder that even Pastor Herbert Koch loses his nerve at such a funeral service. The comedy full of twists and turns dissects the abysses, pitfalls and rhetorical tricks of the current discussion about social etiquette with relishful devotion. What's the difference between wild bees and domesticated bees, how is a colony structured, and how is honey actually made?
Beekeeper Walter will answer these questions and share fascinating insights into the lives of nature's tireless helpers. Wearing protective gear, you'll get to look inside a beehive and experience first-hand how honey is created, harvested and processed. Afterwards, you'll make your own beeswax wrap to take home as a souvenir and finish by tasting the farm's own honey products.

Join Heinrich on a cultural-historical hike around Riffian/Rifiano.
First, our path takes us to the pilgrimage church "Zu den sieben Schmerzen Mariens", where Sepp shares fascinating insights into the centuries-old pilgrimage tradition.
We then continue together with Heinrich to the prehistoric Burgstall settlement from the Iron Age and learn interesting facts about life in bygone times.
We finish the excursion with a lunch at the Luferkeller.

A very special pleasure hike for you!
From the Schafflerhof farm above Saltaus/Saltusio, you'll take the scenic Merano High Mountain Trail to the Schupferhof farm cheese dairy. During a guided tour, you will learn everything about the production and origin of the farm's own cheeses. After the tour, you can put your senses to the test and taste the different types of cheese. After the tasting, you will walk back to St. Martin/S. Martino.

Join herbal expert Rosi on an exciting wild herb hike around St. Leonhard/S. Leonardo and discover plants that give you new energy. Learn how local herbs can help combat spring fatigue and gather valuable tips for everyday life. Afterwards we will prepare a small treat together from the collected herbs and enjoy it.

An exclusive spring treat awaits pleasure-lovers on 25 April, when Goyen Castle, unusually, opens the gates to its medieval courtyard. Accompanied by lively music, nibbles and sparkling beverages, on this special morning mouths will water and no heart will be left untouched. "Green events" are events that are planned, organised and implemented according to environmentally friendly criteria. Regional value creation, resource efficiency, waste management, mobility and social responsibility are the key factors.

Discover the secrets of wine on a hike through the vineyards above St. Martin/
S. Martino. During the discovery hike you will learn about the history of the Passir winery, the work of the winegrowers and you can taste the Solaris and Kerner wines that grow there. Finally, short guided tour of the winery with tasting appetizers.

Exhibitors from Five Countries For the 47th time, the large international collectors’ fair, Lanaphil, will take place on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Lana/South Tyrol. The event will run from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and will be a meeting point for collectors. About 50 exhibitors and many collectors will be present in the large hall, the foyer, and on the stage of the Raiffeisenhaus in Lana. Exhibitors and visitors from the following five countries will participate: Italy, Austria, Germany, Belgium, and the Czech Republic. Twice a Year Collectors’ Fair The founder and organizer, Albert Innerhofer, a passionate collector of old and historical postcards, first organized this collectors' meeting in Lana on October 22, 2000. Since then, the event has been very popular, taking place twice a year—once in April and once in October—in the Raiffeisenhaus of Lana, South Tyrol. Thanks to visits to many collectors' fairs both in Italy and abroad, many friendships and contacts with other collectors have developed, some of which have lasted for decades and are still ongoing today. At this fair, old historical postcards, stamps (including personalized stamps), coins, letters, pre-philatelic items, historical stock certificates, banknotes, military items, and other memorabilia such as books, engravings, old photos, and accessories will be available for trade, purchase, or sale. Personalized Stamps Each year at Lanaphil, new personalized stamps are released. Currently, the following personalized stamps are available: Heinrich Dalla Rosa (1909-1945), a priest from Lana who was executed by the Nazis on January 24, 1945 – 2024 Dipl.-Ing. Dr. h.c.
