Our Christmas market, the Alpine Advent Sarntal Valley, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. This year in Val Sarentino, the visitors of our Christmas street market will be enchanted by a myriad of Christmas trees. 20 wooden stands will display the traditional, handcrafted and unique products made in Val Sarentino, while the food and wine stands will offer local goodies such as sweet and airy Krapfen, Striezl (Sarentino-style fried bread) and rye bread. The Christmassy feeling will be heightened by music bands and carol singers and in addition there will be a hands-on workshop and animation shows for the children.

The Margreid Lantern Advent invites you to enjoy the pre-Christmas season in an atmospheric setting. Mulled wine stands, an idyllic Christmas forest and lovingly designed lanterns decorating the streets and houses give Margreid a special Christmas glow. A highlight is the Krampus run on 5 December, accompanied by St. Nicholas, who gives gifts to the children. Musical performances, Advent stories and culinary delights create a festive atmosphere for young and old alike. On 23 December, the traditional charity mulled wine stand invites you to enjoy music and community spirit – and the most beautiful lantern decoration of the year is also awarded a prize. Immerse yourself in the magic of Margreid and experience the enchantment of Advent in the brightly lit village on the South Tyrolean Wine Road!

The Villandro Nativity Scene Friends are creating a Nativity Scene Route in the village from the village to the parish church for the entire Advent period until the Three Wise Men. Showcases have been made in which various nativity scenes are exhibited.

On the first Sunday in Advent, the House of Culture in Steinegg is transformed into an atmospheric Christmas market, organised by the charity women of Steinegg. The traditional market offers a warm atmosphere, lovingly designed stands and a diverse range of handmade products, delicious treats and festive decorations. The special thing about this Christmas market is that all the net proceeds go to charity. The 20 or so active members of the association and numerous supporters from Steinegg and the surrounding area work hard to make this day a very special event. The female choir Chorisma is pleased to invite you on December 4, 2025, at 7:30 PM to the parish church of Niederlana for the Advent concert.

The branches of St. Barbara have always been cut and preserved on 4 December. In the warmth of our living rooms, the closed buds of the fruit branches open even in the cold winter months and bloom until Christmas Eve. At the Christmas market, we distribute the branches in exchange for a voluntary donation, which goes to the OEW partner project ‘Vida y esperanza’ for marginalised schoolchildren in Bolivia.

In a valley in which dialect and garb are still alive, it is not unusual that its tradition is thoroughly cultivated. The „Klöckeln“, is a pre-Christian custom practised the first weeks of December and has an old tradition.
