In the Planetarium South Tyrol, visitors can experience the current and unique starry sky over South Tyrol, regardless of the weather and time of day. The Villanders mine in the Eisack Valley, with a wide view of the Dolomites, was one of the most important mining areas in Tyrol in the Middle Ages. At that time, silver, galena, copper and much more were mined. The Villanders Culture and Museum Association has carefully restored the mine in recent years. It is now one of the few mines in South Tyrol that is open to visitors. Guided tours only from April to October on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 and 14:30, Sundays at 10:30 (duration approx. 1.5 h) In July & August additionally on Wednesdays at 10:30 (duration approx. 2 h). IMPORTANT: arrive at the mine at least 10 minutes in advance! Individual special tours are available all year round on request. All prices can be found on the mine's website.

The pleasant circular hike starts at the large parking lot Saltnerstein and includes a visit at the mountain pine show distillery at the Marzuner Schupfe. Enjoy the open distant view of the Dolomites in the magnificent expanse of the alp. The lunch break is made alternately in one of the hospitable alpine huts. Merano 2000 Funivie Spa and the Tourist Association of Avelengo-Verano-Merano 2000 are constantly striving for a clean mountain and for this reason the project 'SpazzaTour' was born - a week at Merano 2000 in which young people from the Jugenddienst Bozen Land (Youth Service Bozen Land) collect all the rubbish left. From Monday, 29 July to Friday, 2 August, the young people will be on the hunt for rubbish along the trails in the area. The awareness-raising campaign also encourages all other visitors to participate: Equipped with sustainable gloves and a rubbish bag, you too can take part in the collection on Monday 29 July 2024.
