After 1945, many bunkers remained operational during the "Cold War" until they were decommissioned in the 1990s and transferred to the Province of South Tyrol. On May 4 2025 Naturns invites you again to the South Tyrolean Bacon Day. Enjoy innovative bacon dishes in a great ambience: children's program, music, as well as a small specialiätenmarkt around the South Tyrolean bacon. The solemn procession into Bressanone Cathedral begins at 9 a.m. for the festive mass with Bishop Ivo Muser. At around 10.15 a.m., the procession of St. Cassian begins with the holy relics through the streets of the town, accompanied by local bands and the Brixen citizens' band, the marksmen, clubs and associations. The procession is opened by the processional flag and the parish of Vahrn. This is because the people of Vahrn saved the relics of the diocesan saints from theft and desecration during the French period. On Sunday, 4 May 2025 at 6.00 pm in the Municipal Theatre in Sterzing, the Tölzer Sängerknaben will sing an entertaining program of Bavarian, German and European folk songs under the direction of Christian Fliegner and - as a special highlight - will also present scenes from the Three Boys from Mozart's “Magic Flute”, which are sung by soloists from the Tölzer Sängerknaben at the world's great opera houses. Where Max Valier, almost one hundred years ago, set up his telescopes to bring the starry sky closer to the people of Bolzano, we now continue that tradition: on May 5, 2025, Waltherplatz will become a window to the universe. Two telescopes will be available to the public for observing the Moon and other celestial objects, right in the heart of the city. Participation is free and no registration is required. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday a shuttle bus will take you from Naturns directly to the Kreuzbrünnl parking lot, starting point for wonderful hikes to the alpine pastures of the Nörderberg mountain, the Monte S.
