For three quarters of a century, the Hafling Music Band has been part of the community, and to conclude this anniversary year, they are having one more special musical statement:

On October 25 at 8:00 p.m., the Hafling Music Band invites everyone to the Generations Concert.

On stage, not only the current members will perform, but also around 30 former musicians who will once again play together with the band.

Almost exactly 75 years after the band’s founding, they revive memories, express gratitude and show how strong the connection between generations has remained.

The traditional Sterzing farmers' market ends with the Sterzing harvest festival on the town square. Experience traditional crafts, South Tyrolean delicacies, freshly prepared sweet temptations and a large selection of products straight from the farm. “Autumn is always our best time”, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe already knew that autumn brings with it a very special atmosphere: the fruit on the trees ripens, the leaves turn colorful and the sky turns a wonderful blue. This is also the case in the town square of Sterzing in South Tyrol on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26, 2024. Friday begins with the traditional farmers' market in the town square, which will take place for the last time in summer 2024. As every Friday, local suppliers offer their products from 09:00 - 13:00. From honey, Wipptal Valley herbal teas, homemade bread and baked goods to fresh vegetables and organic wines, you will find everything to make your heart beat faster at the Sterzing farmers' market. At the last edition, the Wipptal Valley farmers' wives will also be preparing traditional South Tyrolean specialties such as fresh “Tirtlan” with spinach or cabbage filling, as well as Sterzing doughnuts for visitors. The Sterzing Harvest Festival begins on Saturday at 10:00 am on the town square. Throughout the day, there is a farmers' and creative market for visitors, where you can admire and purchase homemade fruit juices and syrups, various tea blends and herbs, farmhouse cheese specialties, homemade jams, fresh eggs and much more. The Stilfes Advent market has a stand with handmade candles and other grave decorations for All Saints' Day. The donations for this will be donated to Südtirol hilft. Doughnuts, fresh apple juice, homemade sausage with cabbage or smoked meat - there is something for every taste! Of course, there is also the typical “Keschtn”, which is a must in the fall. Musical entertainment is also provided.

Some chestnut farmers invite you to the "Keschtnmorkt" in the village center of Jenesien. They await the guests with all kinds of delicacies related to chestnuts, good things from the autumn farmer's kitchen and naturally roasted chestnuts as well as home-grown wines and homemade juices of all kinds.

Every Tuesday a shuttle takes you to the Schartegg car park on the Tscharser Nörderberg mountain. There is the starting point for wonderful hikes to the different alpine pastures. Mountain bikers can explore the new bike area of Nörderberg mountain starting from the Schartegg car park. Limited booster seats for children are available. Dogs are transported only on request and with muzzle. The return journey must be booked separately.

Explore the area in a very special way: on a carriage ride with Haflinger horses. Twice a week, Sonja from the Sulfner riding stable harnesses her good-natured blondes and offers an animal and romantic experience for horse lovers of all ages. Duration: 1 hour In case of rain the carriage afternoon is cancelled.

After a wonderful hike on the Nörderberg mountain, a shuttle bus will take you back to Naturns in comfort. Limited booster seats are available for children. After 1945, many bunkers remained operational during the "Cold War" until they were decommissioned in the 1990s and transferred to the Province of South Tyrol. Some of these defensive structures hold historical significance, offering unique architectural insights today. The bunker at Töll was acquired by the municipalities of Algund and Marling and has been made accessible for guided visits. At Tholerhof, both young and old, have the opportunity to gain their first riding experiences and get a feel for sitting in the saddle of these fascinating and powerful Haflinger horses and Shetland ponies. After riding, children can help with grooming and taking care of the horses. For more experienced riders, Tholerhof offers great rides in the forest around Aschbach. From high up on the horse, you'll see the surroundings from a more impressive perspective.

Special exhibition: CALDERA, living with the supervolcano 280 million years ago, a supervolcano was located in the center of what is now the Trentino-South Tyrol region. Powerful porphyry layers still bear witness to its activity, while the rock formations in between tell of long periods of dormancy during which plants and animals settled. Fossils, animal models, and a simulation of the supervolcano make this distant world tangible in the Nature Park Visitor Center. Free admission; reservation not necessary.

Love, laughter, life's chaos: Heimatbühne Auer theater company performs “That's Amore” only in German A comedy about family, intimacy, and life's chaos, directed by Christian Mair A silver wedding anniversary that turns out very differently than planned: With Ursula Kaletta's lively comedy “That's Amore – Liebe auf Italienisch” (That's Amore – Love in Italian), Heimatbühne Auer is staging a play this year that provides hearty laughter and warm moments in equal measure. Christian Mair returns to the director's chair, and after several successful productions, he once again focuses on humor with depth. The focus is on the married couple Sofi and Raffaelo Pepone. For their 25th wedding anniversary, Sofi wants nothing more than a quiet weekend for two – no guests, no hustle and bustle, just time for herself and her husband. But that's not going to happen: the entire family announces their intention to join in the celebrations – loud, warm-hearted and with the best of intentions, but completely contrary to Sofi's ideas. What was planned as a romantic anniversary turns into a weekend full of broken plans, misunderstandings, and family turmoil. “‘That's Amore’ is a humorous family comedy whose plot revolves around a silver wedding anniversary celebration that goes completely off the rails,” explains director Christian Mair. “Sofi and Raffaelo hope for a quiet celebration, but all their relatives, with all their quirks, arrive. The play thrives on complications, comical misunderstandings, and characters that are all too familiar from our own lives.”It is precisely this closeness to everyday life that makes the play so appealing to Mair: “Almost everyone is familiar with such scenarios—relatives you hardly invited, old disputes, unspoken expectations. This makes it easy to relate to and laugh along with.” Despite all the comedy, the tone remains warm-hearted. “You don't laugh at malicious caricatures, but at characters who also have weaknesses and worries. The play shows that despite all the turmoil, you can still feel sympathy for each other.” Mair can explain why family stories are so well suited to the stage: “Families provide the perfect template for comedies. They know each other too well, talk past each other, dig up old stories – it's pure theater material. Even when it gets funny, the core remains human.” And what remains in the end? A message that everyone can understand: life can rarely be planned—and that's precisely where its charm lies. “You can make plans, but life gets in the way. It's important to remain flexible and not lose your sense of humor. Family can be exhausting, but without them, life would only be half as colorful,” says Mair. In addition to the permanent exhibitions ‘The Ötzi Find’ and ‘Flora, Fauna, Man’, the archeoParc in Unser Frau presents a small special exhibition every year. This year's edition is called ‘Glaciers and Me’ and is dedicated to two artistic positions on the topic to mark the Year of Glaciers: paintings by Jessie Pitt (Melbourne/Längenfeld) and photographs by Daniela Brugger (Karthaus) together with texts by glaciologist Georg Kaser (Karthaus) invite visitors to discover and reflect. The special exhibition to mark the 800th anniversary of the Castle of Taufers focuses on a medieval and social theme: the relationship between the nobility and the peasantry. The exhibition, curated by Marie Rubner and the Südtiroler Burgeninstitut, can be seen at Castle Taufers from April 18 to November 2, 2025.
The beginning of the 16th century was characterized by social, economic and religious changes. Serfdom severely restricted the rights of the lower classes and forced them to pay additional taxes to aristocratic feudal lords and the clergy. In 1525, the call for equality, justice and freedom grew louder and louder. Discontent soon turned violent and the Peasants’ War broke out like wildfire in Central Europe. 2025 marks the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the peasant revolt. To mark the anniversary, the exhibition “500 Years: Peasants‘ War - Striving for Freedom” allows visitors to immerse themselves in the history of this period.

Curated by Frida Carazzato with the collaboration of the Fondazione Bonotto, through the curatorial advice of Patrizio Peterlini, the exhibition uses the museum collection to explore the cultural legacy and artistic vision of Francesco Conz. This important figure, who worked with Fluxus, Visual Poetry and Concrete Poetry artists, played a decisive role in disseminating these artistic practices in Italy and abroad. The title of the exhibition is taken from a work by Gerhard Rühm, a visual artist, musician, poet and co-founder of the Wiener Gruppe, and one of the first artists with whom Francesco Conz began producing large-format editions. The “You and the Night and the Music” title stimulates reflections on the relationship between art, time and the links between artists, collectors and museum institutions. The conjunction “and” in the artwork becomes, in the title of the exhibition, a metaphor for both the network of cultural connections that has given rise to one of the main hubs in the Museion collection and the figure of Conz, whose passion bound together artistic and human experiences. A number of collectors and art critics, in fact, have played a fundamental role in the history of the museum collection. People like Paolo Della Grazia, who donated his collection to the museum in 2020, Luigi Bonotto, Henry Martin and many others, have helped to create an artistic heritage that is now an essential reference point for the study of neo-avant-gardes. Thanks to their activities, Museion has been able to enrich its collection with a body of works that bears witness to the value of publishing and screenprint production as a means of disseminating contemporary art. The exhibition is located in the central area of Museion Passage, a space designed to host dynamic installations that are open to the public. The central and corner sections – the latter can be visited until November 16 2025 – present a selection of screenprints on canvas produced by Conz and designed to be easy to transport and exhibit in various contexts. These works interact through videos, artists’ multiples and other editions to create an experience that reflects on the art of publishing both as an artistic tool and as an effective space of cross-genre exchange, in harmony with the Fluxus spirit.

On October 10 at 7 pm, Museion is proud to open the first retrospective in Italy dedicated to the work of Nicola L. (b. 1932, Morocco; d. 2018, USA). From the 1960s onwards, the French artist developed an equally playful and activist practice. Blurring the boundaries between various media such as sculpture, painting, drawing, collage, performance, and film, her work is imbued with subversive wit and the ideals of equality and collectivity. As part of the new Museion research line, THE SOFTEST HARD, the exhibition celebrates art as a social and urban practice of non-violent resistance and as an invitation to connect in times of crisis.
