From Laion, we take a taxi to the starting point at the "Ramitzler Schwaige" hut. From there, we hike with our guide Herbert up to Resciesa. Upon reaching the summit cross, we can enjoy the first rays of sunshine and the breathtaking view. Afterwards, we return to the "Ramitzler Schwaige" hut, where a delicious breakfast awaits us (not included). After breakfast, we continue our hike back to Laion. Gottfried, the farmer and host, fires up the old stone oven and takes you on a little journey back to a time when baking bread was still pure craftsmanship – done by hand, with heart and tradition. From mid-May to early October, you can join in every second Friday to watch how flour, water and years of experience come together to form a crusty farmhouse loaf. And who knows – Gottfried might even share one or two secrets of his recipe with you. 40 YEARS OF THE MERANO HIGH MOUNTAIN TRAIL This impressive hike along the historic Merano High Mountain Trail is a journey through time on one of the oldest high-altitude trails in the Alps. Upon arrival at the Texelbahn cable car mountain station, breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Merano basin unfold. The historic trail, once an important connection between mountain farms, leads past original alpine farms and lush mountain meadows. When walking in nature with your eyes open, you will find lots of materials that can be used to create surprising things. In the small workshop in the centre of Ortisei, pebbles, moss, seeds, wood, leaves, pinecones, and other natural materials are used to build small works of art together with the children. Thanks to this workshop the creations can be taken home and remind even after the holidays what great things can be made with such simple materials and a little imagination. During the workshop we build together a new home for useful insects made of natural materials. All children are welcome to participate. The price will be 15,00€ - 20,00€.

The journey takes place by bus via Chiusa to the Alpe di Villandro. Our hike starts at the Gasserhut and leads over the Alp “Mair in Plun” to the saddle “Gasteiger Sattel”. From there, we follow the broad ridge until we reach the mountain hut at the summit of the Corno del Renon. Once at the top, we enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Dolomites. After a leisurely break, the trail leads us to the “Huberkreuz” cross in Barbiano, where the taxi is already waiting for us. On the 22nd of July 2025, the Patronal feast in Honor of Saint Mary Magdalene will take place at 10 a.m. in the idyllic chapel garden of Hocheppan Castle. On this festive day, the Romanesque castle chapel opens its doors to all interested visitors from 11 am to 4 pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire the impressive and unique Romanesque frescoes that adorn the chapel free of charge. These frescoes are not only a valuable work of art, but also a fascinating testimony to times gone by. Expert guides are on hand to answer your questions and give you detailed information about the castle's architectural and artistic history as well as the exceptionally well-preserved frescoes. Immerse yourself in history and let yourself be enchanted by the stories about the medieval works of art. After the mass, the tavern of the castle with its charming garden invites you to linger. Anni and Lisa will give you a warm welcome and spoil you with a variety of culinary specialties. What does their presence indicate? Which animals live in the forest? Do carnivorous plants also exist in the mountains? Many topics will be covered. Each participant will be given an observation magnifier, do you know it? These are useful jars with a magnifying glass on the lid, an indispensable tool for field research. A true Ranger cannot do without one! In the afternoon, back at the Visitor Centre, there will finally be the awarding of the Dolomiti Ranger diplomas!
