The Villandro Nativity Scene Friends are creating a Nativity Scene Route in the village from the village to the parish church for the entire Advent period until the Three Wise Men. Showcases have been made in which various nativity scenes are exhibited.

Lights and Christmas atmospheres transform Bolzano into the Christmas capital. The iconic Christmas Market takes place in Walther Square and Viale Stazione, in the Christmas Park from via dell’Isarco to the Parco dei Cappuccini, in many streets of the historic center, and in many other locations, which become meeting places for those who love the enchanting pre-Christmas atmosphere.

Glühwein (mulled wine) stand directly at the village center of Valas.

During Alm Advent, the Fane Alm transform into a cozy place filled with festive anticipation on all Advent Sundays from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Visitors can look forward to mulled wine, South Tyrolean specialties, a lovingly designed children’s program with crafting and storytelling, as well as stalls offering homemade products.

Each Advent Sunday features its own special highlight:

On the 1st Sunday of Advent (30/11/2025), an alpine devotion takes place at 2 pm, accompanied by a four-part choir and then the brass ensemble of the Valles music band.

On the 2nd Sunday of Advent (07/12/2025), St. Nicholas visits the hut at 2 pm, with musical accompaniment by the Terento men’s choir.

On the 3rd Sunday of Advent (14/12/2025), the brass ensemble of the Rodeneck music band provides contemplative music.

At the Christmas village in Klausen, the stalls are hidden behind fir branches and in old cellars, where you can buy local products. And there will also be plenty of culinary offerings as well as an extensive program.

Museion Passage and Piccolo Museion - Cubo Garutti

Museion continues to research and explore its own collection by presenting You and the Night and the Music – Francesco Conz Editions from the Museion Collection, an exhibition dedicated to art editions, especially those of Francesco Conz, one of the key figures in the promotion and artistic production of international neo-avant-gardes in Italy.

Curated by Frida Carazzato with the collaboration of the Fondazione Bonotto, through the curatorial advice of Patrizio Peterlini, the exhibition uses the museum collection to explore the cultural legacy and artistic vision of Francesco Conz. This important figure, who worked with Fluxus, Visual Poetry and Concrete Poetry artists, played a decisive role in disseminating these artistic practices in Italy and abroad.

The title of the exhibition is taken from a work by Gerhard Rühm, a visual artist, musician, poet and co-founder of the Wiener Gruppe, and one of the first artists with whom Francesco Conz began producing large-format editions.

The “You and the Night and the Music” title stimulates reflections on the relationship between art, time and the links between artists, collectors and museum institutions. The conjunction “and” in the artwork becomes, in the title of the exhibition, a metaphor for both the network of cultural connections that has given rise to one of the main hubs in the Museion collection and the figure of Conz, whose passion bound together artistic and human experiences.

A number of collectors and art critics, in fact, have played a fundamental role in the history of the museum collection. People like Paolo Della Grazia, who donated his collection to the museum in 2020, Luigi Bonotto, Henry Martin and many others, have helped to create an artistic heritage that is now an essential reference point for the study of neo-avant-gardes. Thanks to their activities, Museion has been able to enrich its collection with a body of works that bears witness to the value of publishing and screenprint production as a means of disseminating contemporary art.

The exhibition is located in the central area of Museion Passage, a space designed to host dynamic installations that are open to the public. These works interact through videos, artists’ multiples and other editions to create an experience that reflects on the art of publishing both as an artistic tool and as an effective space of cross-genre exchange, in harmony with the Fluxus spirit.

During the Bolzano Christmas Market music bands and singing groups will cheer the time with Christmas music.

A varied programme of events and children’s activities makes a visit to the Ritten Christmas Train Market (Rittner Christbahnl) an unforgettable experience, turning the Advent and Christmas season into something truly special. The Ritten Christmas Train Market at the Oberbozen railway station, in the historic Plattner Beekeeping Museum in Wolfsgruben, and in the village centre of Klobenstein is open during Advent and Christmas time on Fridays from 2 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Ritten Railway connects the three locations every 30 minutes. On all opening days: Nativity scene exhibition at the historic Plattner Farm in Wolfsgruben. On Saturdays and Sundays: Horse-drawn carriage rides from Klobenstein station to the village centre, introductory pony riding, and llama and pony walks in Oberbozen. A highlight of the market is the impressive life-sized nativity scene, lovingly carved by the sculptor Leo Moroder. Every year, new figures are added, making this artwork a vibrant symbol of the most beautiful Christmas traditions.

And when live music fills the air between the snow-covered huts, the market becomes even more enchanting. On certain evenings, concerts create a truly special festive atmosphere.

Last year, for every cup of mulled wine sold, €1.00 was donated to Aiüt Alpin Dolomites, raising a total of €3,000 in support of the valuable work of the mountain rescue team.
This year, the initiative continues, with a part of the proceeds being donated to another local association, sharing the magic of Christmas through solidarity.

On October 10 at 7 pm, Museion is proud to open the first retrospective in Italy dedicated to the work of Nicola L. (b. 1932, Morocco; d. 2018, USA). From the 1960s onwards, the French artist developed an equally playful and activist practice. Blurring the boundaries between various media such as sculpture, painting, drawing, collage, performance, and film, her work is imbued with subversive wit and the ideals of equality and collectivity. As part of the new Museion research line, THE SOFTEST HARD, the exhibition celebrates art as a social and urban practice of non-violent resistance and as an invitation to connect in times of crisis.

During the culinary winter-weeks "The Alpine Table", numerous mountain huts across the holiday area Gitschberg Jochtal invite you to experience alpine cuisine at its most authentic. From 14–21 December 2025 and 15–22 March 2026, participating huts serve special dishes prepared exclusively with regional ingredients and offered outside the regular menu. Each hut interprets local products in its own unique way, creating unforgettable moments of culinary enjoyment in the heart of the winter paradise. Museion presents What We Carry, an exhibition that interweaves contemporary art with the core values of the Milano Cortina Cultural Olympiad 2026: inclusion, sustainability, and legacy. Featuring newly commissioned works and research by Sonia Leimer and Christian Kosmas Mayer, together with a landmark collection of 43 Olympic torches (1936–2024), the project explores how the design and symbolism of the torches intersect with questions of power, visibility, and cultural legacy. What We Carry evokes the way these values are passed from hand to hand—like the torches themselves—creating a living legacy where art meets sport. With the exhibition Museion joins the Autonomous Province of South Tyrol in its mission to strengthen the region’s cultural identity and role as a hub for international exchange. At the heart of the installation, Sonia Leimer’ expansive setting unveils a 50-meter infinity-shaped sculpture that refers to a running track and doubles as a pedestal for 42 of the Olympic torches, on loan from the Olympic Aid and Sport Promotion Project. This dynamic sculptural display transforms the torches into a powerful reflection on continuity and change, and the evolving values of the Olympic Games. Known for her sculptural and video work, Leimer often explores how physical spaces and everyday objects reflect shifting social narratives. In this project, she brings those concerns into the exhibition space, inviting viewers to consider how we engage with objects and how their meanings evolve over time.
