Shuttle to the Nörderberg mountain – parking lot Kreuzbrünnl: Not in the mood for the narrow and steep mountain roads in South Tyrol? Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday a shuttle bus will take you from Naturns directly to the Kreuzbrünnl parking lot, starting point for wonderful hikes to the alpine pastures of the Nörderberg mountain, the Monte S. Vigilio or the mountain station of the Aschbach cable car. Alternatively, a shuttle from Kreuzbrünnl will take you back to Naturns. The return trip must be booked separately. In addition to the permanent exhibitions ‘The discovery of Ötzi’ and ‘Primitive? Skilled!’, the archeoParc in Madonna di Senales presents a small photo exhibition every year in the museum’s cafeteria. This year’s edition features works by the young hunter Simone Santer: photographs of animals, plants, and landscapes. In addition to the permanent exhibitions ‘The Ötzi Find’ and ‘Flora, Fauna, Man’, the archeoParc in Unser Frau presents a small special exhibition every year. This year's edition is called ‘Glaciers and Me’ and is dedicated to two artistic positions on the topic to mark the Year of Glaciers: paintings by Jessie Pitt (Melbourne/Längenfeld) and photographs by Daniela Brugger (Karthaus) together with texts by glaciologist Georg Kaser (Karthaus) invite visitors to discover and reflect. The special exhibition to mark the 800th anniversary of the Castle of Taufers focuses on a medieval and social theme: the relationship between the nobility and the peasantry. The exhibition, curated by Marie Rubner and the Südtiroler Burgeninstitut, can be seen at Castle Taufers from April 18 to November 2, 2025.
The beginning of the 16th century was characterized by social, economic and religious changes. Serfdom severely restricted the rights of the lower classes and forced them to pay additional taxes to aristocratic feudal lords and the clergy. In 1525, the call for equality, justice and freedom grew louder and louder. Discontent soon turned violent and the Peasants’ War broke out like wildfire in Central Europe. 2025 marks the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the peasant revolt. To mark the anniversary, the exhibition “500 Years: Peasants‘ War - Striving for Freedom” allows visitors to immerse themselves in the history of this period.

Europe’s largest monastery complex in Tirol/Tirolo. Founded in 1142 by the Bishop of Brixen/Bressanone at the intersection of two important routes - the Brenner and the route to the Pustertal valley - the Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery was recognized, among other things, as a hospice and rest area for pilgrims. Today the Monastery makes a name for itself as a place of agriculture, culture and education. From the monastery winery to the herb garden, from the electricity plant to the educational center, several businesses are united in the monastery. The Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery in Vahrn/Varna is the largest Monastery complex in Tirol/Tirolo. The Monastery has an holistic conception and was independent and versatile from its very foundation. A walk through the Monastery complex will let you understand its size and importance as a former important cultural and economic hub of the Eisacktal/Valle Isarco valley. The first thing that will catch your eye are the architectural elements: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. With the Engelsburg, the late Baroque collegiate church, the Gothic cloister, the miracle fountain, the library’s unique manuscripts and the historic Pinakothek, the Augustinian Neustift Canons Regular Monastery is one of the most remarkable sights of the Eisacktal valley.

Fancy a varied hike where you can experience the secrets of nature? This guided tour through the Texelgruppe Nature Park has the motto "Precious water" - because water has played a central role here for centuries: as a life-giver, landscape shaper and also as part of the regional culture via the historic irrigation channels. The hike starts at the "Kratzegg" car park in Ulfas and leads us first to the Ulfaseralm hut. We continue through flowering mountain meadows, where a variety of alpine herbs grow, to the Hahnl - a panoramic mountain ridge with an impressive panoramic view over the entire Passeiertal Valley. From the Hahnl we descend to the Waalerhütte hut and then follow the Ulfaser Waalweg - a quiet, water-accompanied path that takes us back to the "Kratzegg" car park. You will be accompanied by a trained nature park guide, who will provide fascinating insights along the way: which plants grow here? How does the landscape change throughout the year? Which animals are native, and how do humans and nature share this space? The tour is part of a series of nine guided hikes through the Texelgruppe Nature Park - each with a different destination, each path offering new perspectives. Discover the Infopoint Steger Sawmill! Visitors can explore a Venetian frame saw from the 16.th century as well as the former sawmaster's house. In addition to these witnesses of Alpine craftsmanship anc cultural heritage, the infopoint also features various exhibition elements. These include a sound station for bird calls, a film booth, a visitor information system about the fauna, flora and geology of the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park. With the photo series “Existential Dualism”, Bolzano-based artist Elisa Cappellari explores the presence of animals in urban spaces and the subtle boundary between nature and society, between the wild and the domesticated. The 14 photographs, taken between 2019 and 2023 in Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, and Slovakia, portray animals — such as giraffes, dogs, snakes, or cattle — in everyday, human-shaped environments: streets, zoos, museums, stables, or shops. The images speak of relationships marked by proximity and distance, dependence and power, inviting viewers to reflect on how animals are perceived in contemporary society — as living beings, but also as symbols, ornaments, or tools. Completing the exhibition are five poetic texts that delicately explore the relationship between animal, space, and observer. “I photograph animals that live alongside us. I’m interested in what happens when one living being encounters another — maybe something is born that goes beyond the image,” says Elisa Cappellari. The artist was selected as one of the four winners of the 2024 Open Call launched by the museum, focused on the relationship between humans, animals, and nature. The exhibition is included in the museum admission ticket and can be visited between the first and second floors.
