With the cablecar Speikboden and the chairlift Sonnklar it goes up to 2.400m, right in the middle of the Ahrntal valley mountains. Once arrived at the top, you have the opportunity to hike to the Sonnklar Cross, which is 10 minutes away, or you can hike tot he Speikboden cross, which is easily reached on foot in 30 minutes. “Oh rhyme, rhyme, whose disc should this be?" This is the quaint Venosta Valley spoken melody as it occurs in the archaic ritual of launching burning discs known as Scheibenschlagen. Every first Sunday of Lent the traditional Scheibenschlagen takes place - Winter is thereby expelled and love and fertility poetically evoked in a fire ritual. In order for Spring to show its blooming face, the demons of the cold and darkness must be expelled first. Wooden discs mounted on sticks are made to glow in an open fire. The red-hot slices are then sent flying off into the wide valley accompanied by rhyming chants and well-wishes. If the disc flew off easily and “flew well", then it will bring good luck. In the end, a witch made of straw, and a few meters tall, which symbolizes the Winter, is burned.

After a short introductory film, you can explore the entire cooperative in the company of our apple expert Franz and follow the storage, sorting, packaging and shipping of the South Tyrolean apple. Our apple expert will let you in on all kinds of secrets about our apples' goodness, the varieties and how best to store them at home. To round off the tour there is a brief apple tasting session. From 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the Gardenaccia slope will be transformed into an enchanting torch-lit trail, ready to give you an unforgettable evening in the snow. The Sponata and Ütia Florian huts will be open to make the evening even more extraordinary and there will be performances by artists and music that will make you dance in the snow. The Kronplatz Ski & Music Festival will once again delight all winter sports and music lovers in 2025. New this year: the festival will be offered in two different themed weeks, offering something for every taste: At the Kronplatz Ski & Music Festival Rock Edition from March 20 to 23, 2025, everything revolves around rock music. There will be plenty of rocking on the slopes and in the huts - well-known bands and street musicians from all over Europe will provide a rousing atmosphere while skiers can enjoy the breathtaking slopes of Kronplatz. The following week, from March 27 to 30, 2025, hip DJs take over the stage at the Kronplatz Ski & Music Festival DJ's Edition. We are pleased to inform you that the final of the Gran Premio Giovanissimi will take place again in Val Gardena in the coming winter season. After 2011, the final races are now returning and will take place this year from 25 to 28 March 2025. The Gran Premio Giovanissimi Kinder Joy of Moving is the most important ski competition for pupils from Italian ski schools aged 7 to 12. Every year, over 50,000 young athletes take part in more than 250 giant slalom races organised by the local and regional offices of the AMSI (Associazione Maestri Sci Italiani). The highlight is a grand national final with competitions in the disciplines of giant slalom, cross-country skiing and snowboarding. Sponsored by the AMSI, the Gran Premio Giovanissimi is the most eagerly awaited event for young ski talents. Each year, the final is held in a different ski resort to celebrate the Giovanissimi Italian Champions - the most promising young athletes in Italian skiing. For over 40 years, this record-breaking event has been inspiring spectators with its unique mix of sporting competition and emotional atmosphere. Thanks to the sunny location, the mountain season starts earlier in Naturno than elsewhere. We open the new season on the Merano High Mountain Trail together with the mountain farmers of the Naturnser Sonnenberg mountain. The mountain farmers provide rare insights into their lives, traditions and everyday life. Another highlight is the culinary offer. If you are looking for an exciting human-animal-nature-experience on the mountain, the Pirchhof-Lamas from Birchberg are just right for you. On the llama experience day we want to inspire you all around. First of all, you will look behind the scenes of our llama breeding, get to know our 24-headed llama and alpaca rascals and experience "up close" how our llama kids grow up. We will answer all your questions about husbandry, feeding, care, rearing, training and wool processing and turn you into little llama and alpaca experts. When you are really familiar with the topic, we will start on a leisurely llama and alpaca tour. Halfway through the tour we will take a short break and enjoy the wonderful mountain panorama of the "South Tyrolean Andes". A great backdrop to take souvenir photos with your llama or alpaca. Afterwards we hike back to the farm in a relaxed way. There, a skill course awaits you, which you will master with your animal hiking partner.
