What is the difference between wild bees and breeding bees, how is a bee colony composed and how is honey actually produced? Beekeeper Walter answers all these questions and gives the participants further interesting information about the industrious helpers of our nature. With the appropriate protective equipment, you can marvel at the inner workings of a beehive and experience first-hand how honey is created, harvested and processed. At the end of the tour, you can make your own beeswax cloth to take home as a souvenir. At the end of the tour you can taste our own honey products.

Guided farm hike in Laion and its surroundings. The bus takes us from Laion to Pontives. From here we hike with our hiking guide Helmuth along the posttrail to the Oberspisser mountain farm, where we can immerse ourselves in rural life. In the meantime, the table is set for lunch (not included). We reach our third stop, the Fallerhof, via the posttrail. A tasting awaits us here and together we immerse ourselves in the world of the farm. The day ends with a hike back to Laion. In German language. First discover the old and new cellars of the Terlan winery, founded in 1893, see how the wine is made and how the bottles are bottled. It is strictly forbidden to bring animals, regardless of their species, for viewing and tasting.

ONLY IN GERMAN OR ITALIAN How is honey made, how is a bee colony organised and why are these busy insects that never seem to get tired so important for us? This guided tour into the world of bees and beekeepers provides the answers to questions like these and more. Expert Christian Kessler from the Partschins Beekeeping Association give an overview of the lives of these hard-working little pollinators, show how they work in the open beehive and the amazing social behaviour of bees, and explain how honey gets from the flower to a jar with the “Made in South Tyrol” brand label on it. Equipped with the right protective clothing, participants can marvel at and literally get to grips with the inner life of the bee hive at close quarters. The guided tour also explains the role that the beekeeper plays, what exactly he does and how his activities must be strictly aligned to the course of the bees’ year. Afterwards, participants can discover the outstanding quality of South Tyrolean honey for themselves by tasting various types of honey.

South Tyrolean culture is defined by decades of preserved culinary artistry. Elisabeth & Ernst from Tholerhof invite you to look behind the scenes and share their favorite recipe for the traditional South Tyrolean Paarlbrot. Together, you will prepare a rye dough in the preheated room, shape the loaves, and then bake them in the stone oven following tradition. You'll learn interesting facts about the cultivation and harvest of rye, which forms the basis for the traditional Paarlbrot. Finally, each participant will receive a Paarl recipe and some loaves to take home.

Immerse yourself in the world of traditional South Tyrolean cookery with our farmers wife Elisabeth! Discover the typical ways of preparing the traditional South Tyrolean vegetable, cheese or bacon dumpling on this cookery course and afterwards enjoy your own home-made dumpling speciality. And so that you can repeat what you have learned when you get home, you will also receive the recipe and handy hints from our cook. In the summer months, short hikes through the vineyards surrounding VIGNA Castel Ringberg are offered. Find out all about vineyard care dedicated to sustainability. Sonja will provide you with information about the South Tyrolean Alpine apple, variety overview, cultivation methods, field work, processing, and marketing. You can expect a tasting of apples and apple juice from a local producer, along with a short walk through nearby orchards. Duration is approximately 1.5 hours. Meeting point: at 10.30 a.m. Ansitz Waldgries Manor at S. Giustina/Bolzano. Duration: 1,5 hours, Price: Guided tour in the historic wine cellar and wine tasting € 20, with RittenCard € 17. Minimum of participants: 6, max 12 persons. At the Ansitz Waldgries Manor, in the middle of the famous wine-growing area of S. Maddalena, viticulture has a long tradition. Waldgries was first mentioned in a document in 1242. Today Christian Plattner leads the wine estate with enthusiasm and success in the 3rd generation and gives his wines a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. Unique is the wine path "Zeit in Waldgries", where the visitor learns a lot of interesting facts about the winery and the daily work. At the end of the artistically designed path, the visitor is rewarded with a magnificent view of the city of Bolzano and the surrounding castles.
