With a promising tone, lights and angels, Christmas trees and a small Christmas market announce the holiday season in Kaltern, which makes the most of its smaller size with nothing lacking. A contemplative village stroll if desired, enjoying wine and fine treats in festive garb, embedded in culinary traditions with both old customs and new practices that will join them. A celebration of joy, sharing, and community, surrounded by music and hospitality in the heart of Kaltern.

Arrival of St. Nicholas - A magical evening for young and old! Soon St. Nicholas will arrive in our municipality! A special evening dedicated to children and their families. 🎅 Arrival of St. Nicholas - St. Nicholas will enter solemnly and address festive words to the children (in German), bringing joy and warmth to all. 🎁 Gifts for the children - St. Nicholas will personally distribute a gift to each child present! ☕ Hot drinks and snacks - Hot drinks and delicious snacks will be available to make the most of the Christmas atmosphere. 🎶 Musical entertainment - The evening will be accompanied by music to make the atmosphere even more festive. The event is organized by the Catholic Family Association, which has taken care of every detail to provide an unforgettable evening for the whole community. We are waiting for you to experience the magic of St. Nicholas together!

In the chilly December air, the village glows in celebration of St. Nicholas's arrival. Families gather while children eagerly await the festivities. St. Nicholas, clad in his splendid red cloak, arrives accompanied by angels carrying sacks of sweets. As he distributes gifts to the children, he creates an atmosphere of joy and enchantment. Our local farmers from La Val delight everyone with traditional Ladin specialities, transforming the evening into a warm and festive celebration of community.

The KFS local groups of the municipalities of Kiens and Ehrenburg warmly invite you to the Kiens Christmas Market! On December 6, 2025, starting at 5:00 PM at the Community Center in Kiens. Come by and enjoy a cozy evening filled with Christmas spirit, delicious food, and lots of surprises!

On Friday, December 5, starting at 05:00 pm, the community gathers at the mulled-wine stand on the main square – the perfect way to get into the mood for the upcoming Krampus parade. The fearsome Krampuses roam through the village with thundering bells, giving everyone plenty of chills! On Saturday, December 6, from 05:00 pm, the mulled-wine stand will again be open; from 03:30 pm to 6:30 pm, the scouts will be serving freshly roasted chestnuts in exchange for a voluntary donation. At around 06:00 pm, Saint Nicholas will greet the children on the main square with a small surprise. Until 07:00 pm, the area remains Krampus-free, but afterwards the village once again transforms into a dark stage. At 07:30 pm, the spectacular Krampus show begins, where several groups showcase their eerie performances – an experience no one will forget anytime soon!

In the afternoon, young and adult musical artists will enchant visitors with Christmas melodies:

Food and drink are provided: warming drinks and home-made delicacies invite you to enjoy.

The parade starts at 5 pm at Hotel Jager Hans, leads to the village square, and is musically accompanied by the Jugendkapelle Passeier (youth band of Passeiertal Valley). Along the way, children can meet St. Nicholas in person and take a souvenir photo. Once at the village square, St. Nicholas and his angels hand out gift bags, and everyone sings together.
During the parade, food packages are collected for children in Moldova and Ukraine –
a wonderful opportunity to spread joy.
At the village square, the Catholic Family Association (KFS) of St. Martin/S. Martino provides warm drinks and sweet treats for a cozy gathering.

On December 6 and 7, the park in the Schwarzenbach sports zone will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland.

Our Christmas market, the Alpine Advent Sarntal Valley, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. This year in Val Sarentino, the visitors of our Christmas street market will be enchanted by a myriad of Christmas trees. 20 wooden stands will display the traditional, handcrafted and unique products made in Val Sarentino, while the food and wine stands will offer local goodies such as sweet and airy Krapfen, Striezl (Sarentino-style fried bread) and rye bread. The Christmassy feeling will be heightened by music bands and carol singers and in addition there will be a hands-on workshop and animation shows for the children.

During Advent, the Christmas Market takes place at Piazza San Giacomo square on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on 8 December, featuring stalls with local handicrafts and culinary delicacies.

The Margreid Lantern Advent invites you to enjoy the pre-Christmas season in an atmospheric setting. Mulled wine stands, an idyllic Christmas forest and lovingly designed lanterns decorating the streets and houses give Margreid a special Christmas glow.
A highlight is the Krampus run on 5 December, accompanied by St. Nicholas, who gives gifts to the children. Musical performances, Advent stories and culinary delights create a festive atmosphere for young and old alike.
On 23 December, the traditional charity mulled wine stand invites you to enjoy music and community spirit – and the most beautiful lantern decoration of the year is also awarded a prize.

Locally produced products simply taste better!
Fresh vegetables and fruits, eggs, spices, cheese, honey, wine, juice….and many more quality products cultivated and produced in Kaltern are being sold from 8 am to noon on the Square of the town. Come by and experience the taste of nature.
All these products have been produced and are being sold by the local farmers themselves.
In a matter of fact South Tyrol enjoys of a very good reputation as far as the production of quality products is concerned. Thanks to the accurate cultivation methods and the strict hygenic regulations there is no doubt that these goods are of the highest quality and of the best taste.
