Experience the “Almabtrieb” in Terento! The ceremonial driving of cattle and sheep from the green pastures back to their home farms and warm barns is a long-standing tradition in Terento. For over 100 cows, calves and sheep this event marks the end of their stay in altitude where they enjoyed the fresh mountain air, tasty grass and cool nights. The animals are adorned with bells, wreaths, fresh flowers and ornate whetstone holders and they are driven down the valley by their herders. Plünderfuhren (procession floats), Goaslkrocha (whip crackers), Schuhplattlern (folk dancers) und and musical entertainment.

In Val Casies Valley, in the village of S. Maddalena, the traditional "Kirschta" (church day) is celebrated in autumn. We particularly recommend the "Original Obolola Almabtrieb" on Saturday afternoon. The farmers, dressed in traditional costumes, bring their livestock, such as cows, sheep and goats, directly from the mountain pastures back down to the valley. The animals are lavishly decorated with flowers, wreaths and bells. At the end of the valley, there is traditional food and musical entertainment until the end of the festival. On Sunday, the Kirchtag is celebrated with the traditional morning pint in the S. Maddalena Association House with traditional music and local, regional specialities.

It is probably the most beautiful pilgrimage across the whole Alpine region: when autumn is at its most colourful, on the second Sunday in October, the villagers of Ortisei go up to the Chapel of San Giacomo. The location itself is heavenly: the chapel and the visitors look out across the Sassolungo from a spot on the steep mountain forest. From here, the mountain comes across like a cathedral of nature. Blessed as one is after a view like this, on Monday go to the traditional Segra Sacun market. Here it's all about the more earthly delights. The whole pedestrian zone is a lively market square, where walking through can be a bit difficult at times. Culinary delights, craftsmanship, carved and painted, are on offer. Another old tradition takes place in the market place: men ripe for marriage will buy a pear at the market, which they will decorate with a ribbon and give as a present to their chosen one. During Easter the following year, the woman has to give the man Easter eggs. Important: the man cannot forget to pick up the eggs if he wants to win his woman over.

The festival will begin at 11 a.m. at the elementary school of Avigna. There will be a lots of tasty local delicacies with roasted chestnuts.

Every year after the village festival in St. Jacob, on Monday the market "Segra Sacun" will be held in the pedestrian area of Ortisei. The “Segra Sacun” market is the largest market of the year, which is filled with numerous stands that offer culinary delights and craft products. According to an ancient tradition, girls and women, on the occasion of this day, will be gifted with decorated pears as a sign of sympathy and love.

ONLY IN GERMAN! From the beginning of October, at the end of the grape harvest, until the beginning of the pre-Christmas season is "Törggelezeit". After leisurely walks through the golden autumn landscape, guests and South Tyroleans enjoy the products of the harvest, especially chestnuts and new wine (Sußer). On this week's hike we visit the Rastlhof. We take the bus from the village centre of Schenna to Verdins and hike via the Wieser Steig up to the Schenner Waalweg. Via the Bergerweg we finally reach the Rastlhof and after a cosy stop for refreshments we walk back down to St. Georgen. From the starting point you are free to decide whether to return on foot or by bus. Of course, a Törggelemenü and hearty music are not to be missed! Every farmer’s wife has her culinary secrets! At the farmer’s kitchen on the Raiffeisenplatz market square, Scena's farmers’ wives offer authentic traditional and tasty specialities. "Törggelen" is a popular autumn custom for enjoying harvest fruits like chestnuts, apples and grapes. Ham and cheese, young wine and local dishes, all taste so much better when enjoyed in company and good music!

Guided "Törggele" hike with guide Helena Graf, with a stop at the traditional farm "Obermoserhof" and a cosy get-together in the "Stube". Meeting point: 10.00 am Tourist Office Feldthurns, return: around 4.00 pm. Walking time: 2 - 2.5 hours, easy hike. Minimum number of participants: 2 persons, free hike for guests of member accommodation, otherwise € 10.00 per person (excl. consumption).

The guided excursions about the cestnut to Glaning/Afing will start every Thursday at 10 a.m. at the tourist office of San Genesio. During this excursion, you will learn many secrets about the cultivation of these precious autumn fruits admiring the colorful chestnut trees. There will be breaks with local product tastings at the "Törggelen" restaurants of San Genesio. Registration is required: within 12 noon of the previous day, by telephone or by e-mail contacting the Tourist Office S. Genesio.

The ingredients are all there for a spectacular autumn in the castles of the Alto Adige Wine Road. From 17th October to 3rd November 2024, several prestigious concerts will be held in the ancient walls of the towns that unfold on one of the most beautiful wine roads in Europe, combined with the excellent wines of this territory. Wine, the stories behind its production and great music will be the protagonists of the first edition of “WineSounds on the Alto Adige Wine Road. The entrance to the concerts includes the concert itself and different tastings to discover the best of local wines that, together, constitute the Alto Adige Wine Road’s family. 4

The South Tyrolean Unterland Tourism Association invites you to the concert at the Turmhof Tiefenbrunner Castle Winery with the Aurora Duo - violin and harp - on 18 October 2024 as part of the "WineSounds of the Alto Adige Wine Road" festival. Access from 6.30 p.m. onwards. The concert will start at 8 pm. The Turmhof Tiefenbrunner Castle Winery in Entiklar/Kurtatsch is an 800-year-old property surrounded by beautiful vineyards and an idyllic courtyard with ancient trees and a large castle park: the perfect setting for the concert. The concert is accompanied by exquisite wines and refined appetisers.

The Event Delights Market from 18th to 20th October on Algund's church square offers a culinary tour through South Tyrol. For three days exhibitors present fine wines, homemade syrups, jams, honey, cheese, meat and sausage as well as handcraft products.

Wine Lane Termeno/Tramin in the historic centre. Enjoy a glass of wine, a few typical dishes, music and folklore. From early afternoon till late at night the famous "Traminer Weingassl" or Wine Alleyway will be scene of exciting adventures which, for a few hours at least, will take you far from your daily routine and offer you a special evening in the magnificent autumn detting, along the Wine Road. The celebrations of the "Wine Alleyway", in the heart of the historic centre of Termeno which is open only to pedestrians, is an appointment not to be missed: the best Traminer wines will be offered in cups made for this very occasion along with special South Tyrolean delicacies in an atmosphere of music and folklore.

As part of the “WineSounds on the South Tyrolean Wine Road” in late autumn 2024, we warmly invite you to the concert in the Von Braunbach wine cellar. The "Alpentales Quintett" plays music from all directions with a double bass, trumpet, drums, vocals, Styrian harmonica and violin. The historic residence of the Teutonic Order is the perfect atmosphere for the concert. With exquisite wines and sparkling wine from Terlan wineries, Terlan wine soup and small appetizers. The Jenesier chestnut farmers invite you to the "Keschtnmorkt" in the village center of Jenesien. They await the guests with all kinds of delicacies related to chestnuts, good things from the autumn farmer's kitchen and naturally roasted chestnuts as well as home-grown wines and homemade juices of all kinds.

First held in 1886, the Merano Grape Festival delights with intriguing performances, delicious South Tyrolean food and a wide range of concerts (including some fairly experimental ones). Keschtnriggl - Chestnut days. The Chestnut Weeks and the Törggelen in Merano and Environs have been a South Tyrolean Tradition for years. Chestnut days in Tesimo/Tisens - Prissiano/Prissian, Foiana/Völlan and Lana gets ist Name from the "Keschtnriggl" - a hand-braided basket for Peeling roast chestnuts. For three weeks, a colourful Event Programme is put on for visitors: Chestnut walks, torchlight processions from castle to castle and the "Keschtnfestl" feast in Foiana, with Music, farmers market, chestnut delicates and traditional crafts. The aromatic fruit with ist spiky Shell, grows particularly well in Merano and Environs, and during this green Event has pride of place in the specialities of traditional inns and prestigious Restaurants, as well as in exquisite chestnut products such as sweet chestnut hearts, aromatic chestnut beer, hearty chestnut stollen, tasty chestnut spraed, luxuriant chestnut cake, fluffy chestnut bread, the excellent chestnut panettone as well as the noble chestnut praline.

From 19th October to 10th November 2024, Feldthurns celebrates its autumnal cultural fruit: the chestnut. During the 27th Chestnut Weeks there is a varied program with guided tours, hikes, tastings and much more!. Discover pleasures of the chestnut from the rural cuisine and wine cellar at the period of the traditional "Törggelen". It is requested to arrive in an environmentally friendly way. Experience a special evening in the medieval courtyard of Haderburg Castle. Live music by Hortus Musice and tasting of different wines. In case of bad weather, the event will take place on Saturday, 26 October 2024 at 6.30 pm.

The music bands of Eppan vitalize their audience with a diverse repertoire in the historic walls and courtyards. The visitors walk through palaces, castles and residences and experience on this simple walking route a pleasant mix of autumnal atmosphere, history and music.

The "Welsberger Kirta" starts with the festive parade of the Monguelfo music band through the village center. A request concert follows on the main square, where visitors can enjoy their favorite music. Food and drink are well catered for, with Tyrolean specialties, drinks and Kirtakrapfen. This event promises not only musical delights, but also a convivial get-together in a festive atmosphere.
