Food events in South Tyrol

The festival Sauders begins at 10:00 with the Holy Mass in the church of Sauders. From 11:00 then starts the festivities at the Winklerhof with performance of the folk dance group Oberrasen and the young Schuhplattler from Villanders. Music and entertainment will be provided by the Natterer Inntaler and the Südtiroler Tanzlmusig, where all dancing fans will meet on the large dance floor. Delicious Törggele dishes will be on the table, a raffle will be organized and for children there will be a playground and trampoline on site.

Every year in September, the traditional Gsieser Almhüttenfest (Val Casies Mountain Pasture Festival) takes place in the Val Casies Valley, a highlight that attracts many hiking enthusiasts every year. The festival takes place alternately in the villages of Colle, S. Martino or S. Maddalena to give the many visitors the opportunity to get to know the numerous alpine pastures and the mountain world of the Val Casies Valley. This year the associations of Colle organise the traditional 37° Val Casies Mountain Pasture Festival on the Gallfallalm. Starting point: S. Martino/village centre. The festival begins at 10.30 am. with a Holy Mass. In the characteristic alpine huts, various local dishes are served. Rustic folk music & children programme. A unique and unforgettable celebration to end the summer.

The peacefulness and colours of autumn are the frame to "Saus dl Altonn", the flavours of autumn, an event created to exalt this wonderful period of the year with good food, the genuine produce of the land and activities dedicated to nature and to the Dolomites. From September 17th to October 1st 2023, a few mountain huts of Alta Badia, that can be reached on foot, by bicycle or by cableway, will be matched with a producer and the corresponding locally product of excellence. Each mountain hut will present a menu specially created for the occasion, highlighting the product assigned. Over the two weeks of the event, the producers will be present at the huts to illustrate the special features of their products, which may also be directly purchased. The programme also envisages many other activities aimed at revealing the many excellences of Alta Badia, enjoying an absolutely unforgettable experience in the Dolomites. Tasting of speck and salami from Fronthof at the Südtirol Products Shop

A visit to the Ganoihof with Georg Profanter (social pedagogue, organic farmer) and Andreas Hudler (landscape ecologist) under involvement of biodiversity in interaction with management on the farm; insights into the current management of organic suckler cow breeding and an aperitif together on the farm. When autumn begins in the southern Valle Isarco/Eisacktal, it starts also the so-called Törggele-season. Chiusa/Klausen celebrates the beginning of this ancient tradition with a big festival. From 20th September to 22nd September, the artist's city Chiusa dedicates itself entirely to the traditions of the "Törggelen" and transforms itself into some kind of outdoor tavern. Through the streets of the town, gastronomic stands offer various South Tyrolean specialties, such as Knödel, Schlutzkrapfen, sausages with sauerkraut (fermented cabbage), doughnuts, Strauben and roasted chestnuts. A rich selection of white wines from the Valle Isarco completes the culinary offer. The festival has also a colourful entertainment program and a lot of popular music.

Festival on the festival place Tramin organized by the Ski Club. You are invited to taste many typical dishes, served up with good live music and excellent wines from the local wineries.

On September 21st, the traditional Matië market takes place in Ortisei.

Traditional autumn market with regional products of the harvest season. Food, drink and music are well provided for! In addition to local regional products, high-quality handicraft products as well as typical market items are offered. This market has been held in Prad every year on 21 September since the 19th century.

Shopping Sterzing / Vipiteno, in one of the most beautiful streets of the alpine area. Merchants and innkeepers are presenting the event "The red carpet" with fashion, music and culinary specialities. The red carpet will turn the whole medieval centre in a unique shopping mile.

From 23rd September to 28th September 2024, the little villages Verdings and Pradell dedicate a culinary week to the pear flour. AN EXPERIENCE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

A festival where local herb producers invite the public to learn about and taste their produce. The vending stalls showcase the stunning diversity of South Tyrolean herbs and provide interesting information. The day’s program also includes expert talks about herbs.

The guided hike with Günther leads through old farmsteads and mountain restaurants, through sloping vineyards, chestnut groves and orchards. You will have the possibility to learn more about typical farms and the winegrowing during a wine tasting at the Prackfoler farm. The lunch with traditional dishes at the Innerperskoler farm inn is not only a culinary pleasure, it helps you to recharge your batteries for the hike back to the starting point. Wine tasting: the three wines from the Prackfolerhof will be tasted. Children receive juices for free. Lunch: The price includes appetizer, main course ("Schlachtplatte"), chestnuts (if available) and sweet "Krapfen". Drinks have to be paid extra.

Even today, as in the past, the harvest festival is a reminder of Thanksgiving Day, celebrated in gratitude for what has been received during the past year. The establishments belonging to the Locanda Sudtirolese group have decided to take care of this tradition, this year putting the forest in the spotlight. Products such as mushrooms, chestnuts, berries, game, wild herbs and much more are transformed by restaurateurs into tasty dishes with an unmistakable flavor. The traditional fair also better known as "Micheli market" takes place yearly in Martelltal Valley. A wide range of products attracts guests from near and far to the typical market.

At the popular "Vieh- & Kramermärkte" you can find tasty and useful things. Four times a year, market stalls with local delicacies, everyday necessities and clothing await visitors.

The Dolomites Medium Delicious Trail is a foot race along the paths of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, about 35 km with 1,900 metres of positive difference in altitude, starting from the centre of La Villa in front of the tourist office. Maximum time: 9 hours. From the centre of La Villa, we descend to the start of the Artists' Path; from here we begin the climb along the Altin ski slope to reach the iconic Gran Risa and Piz La Villa, where the first Delicious refreshment stop is at the Club Moritzino hut. Continue on to the second refreshment point, the Ütia de Bioch hut and then cross the Störes meadows, from where a long descent to the Armentarola area begins. From here the trail climbs up to the Scotoni refuge, the third refreshment point, which greets the athletes as they enter the Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park. From here the route climbs up towards the Lagazuoi at 2,778m, with the final stage leading to the finish in Pocol. There are 3 wonderful refreshment points along the Alta Badia route, which have been set up by Team Delicious, where you can take a break and enjoy quality products and local specialities. Thousands of runners, from more than twenty countries around the world, have participated in the event in recent years on the trails that witnessed the historical events of the First World War. The Speck Alto Adige Festival at Kronplatz is a tribute to the traditional craft of South Tyrolean bacon production and presents one of the most typical culinary highlights of the region, namely the original South Tyrolean bacon in different ways. Here you can not only meet the best bacon producers of the region and taste their products, but also learn more about the history and production of bacon.

Marling's Music Group puts on its traditional Törggelen Festival on fairground in Marlengo. Hearty traditional Törggelen with roast chestnuts, sweet wine and musical entertainment!

ONLY IN GERMAN! From the beginning of October, at the end of the grape harvest, until the beginning of the pre-Christmas season is "Törggelezeit". After leisurely walks through the golden autumn landscape, guests and South Tyroleans enjoy the products of the harvest, especially chestnuts and new wine (Sußer). On this week's hike we visit the Holznerhof. We take the bus from the village centre of Schenna up to Verdins and hike via the Wieser Steig through the Vallplatz forest to the Holznerhof and after a cosy stop we descend to the Pichler restaurant. From the starting point you are free to decide whether to return on foot or by bus. A Törggelemenü and hearty music are of course not to be missed! Carriage ride with "Pferdemayer" through vineyards and apple fields around Tramin. Stop in a local winery, in a distillery with tastings and Coffee stop. Duration 90 minutes. A true adventure on the sunny plateau: the autumnal custom of "Törggelen" is a delight for visitors and locals alike. Understandably, for it is the ideal combination of exercise in the fresh air and culinary delights. After a hike across the colourful high plateau of Naz-Sciaves with our guide, we stop at a typical farm, where specialities from the Isarco Valley are served.* *Food and drink are not included in the price.

In Schenna, South Tyrol's "fifth season" is celebrated with the Törggele afternoons at the Raiffeisen Square. Various stalls offer South Tyrolean specialities to taste and buy. Of course, roasted chestnuts and new wine, the so-called Sußer, are not to be missed. Musical accompaniment is also provided!
